I just went over to Edmunds, and for $h! & giggles, I priced out an '09 Aveo5. Here's my option list:

2LT

sunroof

ABS

leatherette seats (vinyl, for God's sake)

aluminum wheels

rear spoiler

$17,635!!!!!

That's the most hilarious thing I've read all day! I am so sure they'll sell like hotcakes at that price.

thats not too far off from what they were when i was at the dealership, 07's...

high would have been around 16,3 and they didnt include leatherette... 2 years later, with a little price inflation, and a bit better model... might be a modest increase in price...

cars are going up in price... and if the general can sell them at whatever price, let the general work...

lets see what the yaris can do for comparison sake...

i remember when gm made the aveo the only new car under 10k... was kind of a big thing, but we were a truck dealership couldnt cater to people...

well for a 08 yaris, with every option, (doesnt have letherette, or a sunroof)was 17,380 and thats a 2008 model.

for the 08 aveo, with every option, (does come with sunroof, no letherette) 16,215... bout the same as they were when i left the dealership

Nice to see you can now get ABS without opting for the automatic.

I'd much rather have the Cobalt, though - even if the Aveo is trimmed more nicely, the Cobalt at least has (relatively) modern "bones" and recent technology like, gasp, curtain airbags and available stability control.

And it's made in the US, not Korea like the Aveo, which is surely the whole point of buying American.

Insane when you can get a brand new 2008 Hyundai here for 9995.00 cash. Thats no frills, but still.

That's the smell of your butt hairs burning when you first sit on the luxurious leatherette seat in July...:smilewide:

:neenerneener:

If I was gionf to get an Aveo, I think I would try an LT with a sunroof...

Or just a cheaper model....

I would just buy used.

...and not a used Aveo.

Wow if I had $17,000 to burn here's what I'd do:

Buy a '70 Cadillac Eldorado hardtop (WTF, FWD!?!) with a 8.2 liter V8....

one can be had in excellent mechanical shape for $10,000

Then I'd use the $7000 to feed it Sunoco gasoline. NOW THAT's ECONOMICS! :D

Oh, and the remaining $635 I would spend on german chocolate & lesbian porn!

I could do a lot of stuff to my cars and have money leftover to buy a classic. :smilewide:
