Anyone got the fleet numbers on the G8?

Featured Replies

I've seen a lot of G8s on the road in the year they've been on Canadian roads.... the thing is that I've only seen two that weren't fleet cars or rentals of some kind. By my own estimations I've seen more privately owned Impalas and LaCrosses than I have G8s proportionally speaking.

G8's are a rare bread here in Seattle, WA. The few I have seen are all private ownership and they have all been really nice.

As of August of last year, it was 4.4%. Unfortunately, thats the most recent Automotive-Fleet has, they dont have a full 2008 breakdown and its almost June, 2009.

There's also more to "fleet" than just seeing the bar code from a rental agency. My sister drives an Impala, but it's a company car that she pays personal use $ to her employer on...but it's a fleet purchase. And her husband's Impala is her former company car that they got a huge discount on when it was due for replacement (and they'd had it since new), replacing a Taurus that pre-dated the Impalas as another fleet purchase by her employer.

Next year she gets a Malibu.

One of my co-workers just replaced his Grand Prix GXP with a G8 GT and seems to really like it.

Some were rentals but some didn't have barcodes. In Alberta fleet cars have a distinguishable license plate (ie C32948) or a fleet designation sticker on the plate instead of those "year" stickers.

I mostly see G8's on dealer lots right now. Only see a few on the road and even had the wife tell me she wants to see one on the road and yet has seen one.

I expect a lot of GM cars will find fleet use soon as they need to dump inventories. They have just got too many cars as most companies and they are not going to sell them all in the next three months.
