The Union of Concerned Scientists, a non-profit science advocacy group in the U.S., has released its 2nd annual Hybrid Scorecard. The hybrid scorecard grades hybrid models on fuel efficiency, environmental impact, value-for-money and their so-called “forced-feature premium”. The last one being a measure of features that don't improve fuel economy, but make it more appealing to buyers.

Thirty-four hybrids were tested, graded on the criteria, and placed into their respective categories. The top models in the Non-Luxury Models category are the Toyota Prius, Honda CR-Z, and Honda Insight. In the Luxury Models category, the Lexus CT200h, Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, and Lexus HS200h were on top. The bottom model on the two lists were the Volkswagen Toureg Hybrid in Non-Luxury and the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 in Luxury.

Under the Environmental Improvement Score they list the Prius as the highest score awarded but it hasn't any conventional equivalent, or have I missed this? :confused0071: Please inform me of the Toyota stable mate.

"Environmental Improvement Score (0-10, 10 best)

measures the smog-forming and global warming pollution performance of the hybrid against its conventional counterpart."

i'm just guessing... the corrola. but it's stuck with the whimpy 1.8L and a 4speed, Still. easy progress over that when you put a hybrid engine to a .."very good" 2.4L. right?
