'06 Chevrolet Vectra Mexico

Just checking out some pics posted over on GM Media. The Vectra as we know is the Chevrolet Vectra for Mexico. A few pics below, the first one I'll post is funny as it still features the Opel badge.

Okay, the details, then.

Basic Vectras have front-end details identical to the Aura's.

EDIT - here it is, a Vectra Caravan. The front bumper looks just like the Aura's.

Isn't the Chevrolet Vectra from Brazil? And isn't it different from the German Opel Vectra?

The Brazilian model is built on the Astra platform, essentially a 4-door Astra. The Mexican model is the European Opel Vectra.

That's not what it looks like from the website. It seems to be the Astra-derived Brazilian Vectra and not the Epsilon-derived German Vectra.

Nice steering wheel, headlamps, dashboard, and grille! Lousy rest of car if its the 2002-vintage European model I'm thinking of, though.

That's the Euro Vectra with a Chevy badge.

EDIT - Click here to see the Mexican Vectra. The site is in Spanish.

It has a 250hp 2.8L V6 turbo engine which is also used by the Saab 9-3 and the Cadillac BLS. I have a feeling that front end will be the Aura Redline's front end.

You all realize that GM would be wasting a ton of money to have two different Vectras with identical styling, the same size, on two different platforms, one of which doesn't come with an independent rear suspension regardless of global application? (Epsilon vs. Astra).

I don't buy it.
