Opel Astra in US - where are plates from?

Recommended Posts

Hello, there is an Opel Astra supposedly for sale in the US. Since the laws here really don't let you import a car, with a handful of exceptions, it's almost certain the car (if it is really here) is here illegally.

i am curious what country's plates are on the car...can someone help identify?

see the picture here:

THANK YOU!

That could very well be a generic novelty European-style plate as, while Opels are sold south of the border, Latin American nations either use US-sized plates or very distinctive Euro-style plates.

I would simply guess the car made its way here from Latin America somehow.

I forgot to mention that the seller claims he brought it from Norway..fwiw

Wow, weird. It's a weird color.

The rental 2001 Astra I had in Slovakia was a 5dr version of this.

Hmm, the government should allow imorts of more vehicles, they are still clean, catylized cars, still safe, and in many cases, small Euro vehicles are highly efficient.

So much for "free market" and "global economy", hehe.
