doesn't the aura have a ~224hp 3.5L base engine right? that's ~13 hp over the impala, so can they (re)tune the 3.9L for more like 250 easily if they wanted?

or did gm just move the torque up the powerband to have a HO 3.5L for saturn?

Doesn't the 3.9L get 270hp in the 2007 G6?

You know.... I think I'm going crazy. Before I made that post, I checked, and I found it in the Pontiac Forum... something about the 3.9 making 270hp in the GXP... now, I've looked for 15 minutes, and I can't find it at all! So maybe I'm losing my mind :) If I find it, I'll post it here!

It's official that the G6 GXP will be at New York in two weeks!!!!!

Pontiac's G6 mid-sizer-known in some Detroit circles as the car that Oprah built-gets a high-performance edition at the coming New York auto show. The April expo will showcase the new 2007 G6 GXP, a spin-off of the two-door coupe(most likely the sedan and vert will make it to production also) that gets a 270-hp, 3.9-liter V-6 engine along with body mods. The G6 GXP will share New York show space with the new Mitsubishi Outlander, the revamped Audi TT, and a host of other new vehicles, most of which you can see in our New York show preview:

ah...  but you forgot about the "official" release of the 07 g6 specs,  gtp has the 3.6 w/ the 6speed auto.

Yes, but this is the GXP... isn't that the highest trim level?

yeah, but...but...but... :(8)

it hasn't been announced right? and it's 270Hp is aftermarket anyway

I took it as just a concept when the "official" changes were put up on here. maybe it'll be a "secret" option later in the year?

wonder how truely noticable that boost in power would be?

back to the real question...what's keeping gm from making it a 250hp or so engine instead of just the ~233-242hp ...just "production limitations" aka "regulations" or bean counters?

On the Impala, yes, from 242 to 233. I doubt it would be noticed anyways. And IIRC it's only the Impala that's getting AFM. Not sure about the CSVs, but the G6 for sure not getting it.

EDIT: CSVs aren't getting it either.
