  1. Fresh locally-sourced Key Lime pie was one of things i enjoyed about growing in the Florida Keys.

  2. Random thought of the day: Humidification of the cabin and aircraft. I had the opportunity to fly on the Boeing 747-8i, the last rendition of this beautiful aircraft. It was meant to be Boeing's answer to the Airbus 380. Its main features are more length (and passenger capacity), better noise suppression, better fuel economy, better bin space, and better humidification and illumination in the cabin. I can't say that it delivered on quiet, and one passenger told me the A380 is the quieter of the two, but it must have delivered on humidification ... never have I gotten off the plane after the more arduous westbound trip and not felt like a wet noodle. The overhead bins in steerage are really spacious. Very few airlines have opted to order and operate it in pax form. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner preceded it and has some of the very same features. You can sample the 787 domestically and on fairly short hauls. I'd sure like to know if the 787 makes for a better flight experience than the 767 it replaces.

  3. I'm waiting for pumpkin pie, and even pumpkin pancakes. I try to limit myself to 1 slice of Key lime pie when it's in season. Unbelievable!

  4. Mercedes is knocking this one out of the park. You can have it look rugged or look slick. This trick suspension is very capable. I’d venture that if this thing had a Maybach variant, it’ll kill the Bentayga in almost any metric, including price.

  5. "Later, we'll see two AMG models: the GLE53 will get a more powerful version of the inline-six with an electric supercharger, while the GLE63 will be powered by the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 seen in other AMG models. There's also another plug-in hybrid in the cards. Choose 4Matic all-wheel drive, and the GLE can be specified with an optional low-range transfer case to give it genuine off-road capability. " C/D Yes, Please.

  6. It is cost savings yes, but inline six is the smoothest engine there is and this one here makes 362 hp/369 lb-ft and they will put a 429 hp/384 lb-ft version in the GLE53. It is quite the combo of power and fuel economy. Really, GM could do the same thing, what do they need V6's for? If the XT5 was on a rear drive chassis they could put an I-6 in it, and all GM's trucks, the Cadillac CT4, CT5, CT6, and Corvette and Camaro are rear drive. The only place they "need" a V6 is on the Lambda SUVs, but you could do turbo 4 with electric assist or hybrid there if you had to, especially in the 2020s when the engine downsizing really hits. The Impala and LaCrosse will probably be dead by then, if they are still here a turbo 4 is enough there too.

  7. "What's happening in the sport car segment, there's a lot more volume in the low-to-mid part of the market. We do a phenomenal job with our loaded SS's, and it's great business for us, but the reality is there's an awful lot of people who just want a great looking sports car somewhere in that $30,000 range, and that's what we're going to deliver," said Steve Majoros Yeah, no sh!t sherlock. The Camaro used to be about being an affordable sports car, then they wanted it to be about putting 500-600 hp V8s in there and charging $70,000 for it, but that is what the Corvette is for. The Camaro's focus should have always been $25-50k price range, they lost focus. Nothing they do will help Camaro sales unless they totally redesign the car to give it more interior room and windows you can see out of. The Camaro has a disproportionate number of male buyers )or potential buyers), mostly older male buyers, which means you have a lot of larger people trying to fit in this car. Every year at the auto show I see guys in their 50s and 60s saying the Cadillac CTS is too small, not enough head room, too hard to get in and out of, etc. Compare that to a Camaro. If people can't fit in it or can't see out of it, doesn't matter what the price is.

  8. Gotta like that new MB dash and infotainment setup. Really classy. Also encouraged that MB is returning to an I6 engine after a 20 year hiatus. One question: so when will GM give Cadillac an I6 worthy of the marque? And upgrade CUE as well? Remember when GM had torquey V6 engines and now the 3.6 is rather weak on torque? Bring back a (smaller) Atlas 4200 I6 please.

  10. The new Camaro looks so fckn ugly that nothing will help the refreshed one sell. They done screwed the refresh up.

  11. The numbers speak for themselves. The overwhelming sales figures for those cars spoke to what Americans liked ... at that point in time. GM's mess ups in the '80s (think V-8-6-4, CCC that wasn't totally debugged, and general sloppiness) didn't help them even though their cars got much better by the next decade. On top of that, throw in that it then became cool to drive European and Asian cars (reinforced by both media and peer pressure) and the pendulum swung further away from cars like GM coupes. Since I've never been disappointed by any of the domestic (GM) cars I've bought, I will keep driving them and lament the slow disappearance of the memorable ones I teethed on.
