  1. Did ya try the Rav4 Hybrid, everyone I know says it is night and day different than the rest of the Rav4's and once you drive one, you wonder how you could ever drive a traditional ICE version let alone many of the competition products. I am interested to know if you did test drive one what you thought compared to the commercial reviews. Or the less options is due to the bulk of society wants a certain image, certain jones jones competition of being seen in the same type of auto. I use my 4x4 / AWD all the time off road and up on the mountain passes during winter and yet the bulk of the folks in my cul-d-sac never go out especially if it is a little icy here in the suburbs. As such, very much a jones jones thing has led to the death of the car over the bulk of everyone wanting a cuv/suv or truck.

  2. They. Have. To. Be. Priced. Competitively. You can't displace $45K IC trucks with $80K and $125K EV trucks. It's disconnected from reality and the market to believe so.

  3. The sketch I've seen looks something like this, which is easier on the eyes than the current Camaro (and I'm not necessarily saying the current Camaro is bad) I guess that, if it were to be branded as a Buick, the Pontiac crest would give way to a round Buick medallion placed right above the ridge, and flat, from where it is currently shown. I've liked every generation of Firebird a little more than every generation of Camaro.

  4. I rarely wander over this way. Just saw this. Attractive grille and front 3/4 views. Great color.

  5. $10K is unrealistic, tho your statement is correct.

  6. Yes, once a customer is convinced that a BEV is the way to go, they are converted to embrace not just the car but all the technology that comes with it. The vast majority of US car buyers are still on ICE because most BEVs are still expensive and current BEVs are not cheap enough to displace the USED car market at all. Small devices are one thing; a BEV is a completely different proposition. I still remember when a cellphone was expensive and did NOT have a touchscreen at all. I remember when the iPhone came out In June 2007 for $600 that you had to pay for upfront. Three years later came the iPad at $500 to start. A LOT of people embraced both technologies very quickly (even if it was a $99 Android phone and/or a $69 Android tablet). BEVs on the other hand are still a niche product because their market share is less than one percent. I would like to one a BEV one day, but the prices are simply too damn high. Most people would agree since they could not afford the monthly payments on a finance job or even a subsidized lease. Moreover, used car prices are such that a BEV looks too expensive for a lot of people right now or even two years ago. Now, create a quality BEV with the range of a top of the Tesla for $10K and a LOT of people will line up for their own BEV.

  8. Among my family, friends & many customers, I only know 1 person who has a RAV4.

  9. Unfortunately, that 'most people' is a micro-sized portion of the market as a whole.

  10. Bet the local fleet dealers dumped the vans from inventory very cheaply to get them moved and off the lot. I rarely see them at the dealerships anymore when I was out and about. I live between two nissan dealers in my area, one down by costco to the south and one up north by business costco. They both like the Mercedes-Benze dealer used to carry a ton of the vans, now nothing that you can find, all special order.

  11. I am going to disagree that it is unproven. With most people having smartphones, tablets, laptops and so many other electric products, charging and having a battery operated product is not unproven, mostly just unknown and the best way to do that is bring out the trucks and suvs and have driver days where people can stop by, take it for a spin and see how they like it compared to an ICE. Most people who have taken an EV for a test drive have quickly made the change over to regen breaking from traditional breaking and found the instant torque to be very delightful.

  12. 100% my thoughts on every point you touched. Im not one to discriminate against a country. (I said country. I never discriminate against the people.)(and there are a few countries to which I have saltiness for) China’s political leadership stinks. From their bullying of certain territorial waters to their bullying of doing business in China and especially their cover up of Covid 19, I think GM should reconsider wtf they want to do in China going forward. I understand that China has billions of people and GM sees dollar signs, but at what American cost does that mean? And yes. I sees plenty of Mazda in this. But then again, its a CUV. They all look the same anyhow.

  13. Sadly we are going the opposite way now. Less choices equal more profits for Wall Street.....

  14. Your right, you will be dead by the time they are mainstream in your area. For others they are becoming main stream which is why on the West coast you have charging everywhere and see so many. Once full size trucks are available, the change will happen even faster and jump again once full size EV SUVs are available.

  16. The comments are making fun of her fairly accurate observation. The believers assume that all car buyers are like them. That is truly hilarious. Barra 1, believers 0.

  17. @smk4565 It was not that long ago that GM makes DID compete against each other. Prior to the Chevy Vega, GM brands were competing against each other in almost every segment of the US auto market. Then came the 71 Vega and the dreaded homologation that led to the dismantling of different characteristics for each brand. That is the biggest reason that Oldsmobile and Pontiac (as well as Saab and Saturn) have died.

  18. GM makes so few of their vehicles in US anymore. Encore = Korea, this in China...my TourX was Germany. I get the 'world market' part of this, but maybe GM will learn that sending most of its production (by model count) outside our borders is a shitty deal. is this sort of "Buick Mazda CX-5" looking? I hope it is not SMALLER than the current Envision.......

  19. And @daves87rs @USA-1 we are having a nice discussion. I like it. Having a lower priced corvette for the masses with a possible ttv6 will probably alter the Vettes image in a negative way Vettes are just out of the reach of regular folk. THAT is one aspect that appeals to people. Keeps folk wanting to work hard to get one. Its like a carrot on a stick dangling in front of a rabbit. And because so many are bought new year after year after year, the used market is full of cheap Corvettes. That is how most Corvettes become people’s dream machines anyway since now on the used market, a Vette was picked up on the cheap, and money is left over to be personalized and tuned and hot rodded. THAT would be another aspect that appeals to Corvette loyalists. A Cadillac supercar will NEVER be able to compete with that. Used Corvettes of a decade ago, or 5 years ago are bought in the used market on the cheap, modified to the nth degree and money spent on them can range between very few dollars spent to astronomical amounts and the performance of these machines are not even touched by the new supercars of the day. Again. Cadillac has to deal with 67 years of Corvette history consisting of great sales over the years, legends, myths, race victories, restoration of classics and hot rodding madness. The Corvette IS the top. Best of the best

  20. Shame Nissan did not look to the green crowd and bring their Electric vans that are doing well in China and Japan and starting to take off in Europe here earlier. Is decent delivery van. If GM does get their EV Van out for delivery companies, they could really wrap up the bulk of the market fast.
