I tend to go the other direction. I like when there are modern takes on older songs. I recently stumbled onto this new version of Clocks, even more chill than the original.2 points

Choice Hotels has announced a deal with Tesla to install chargers across its range of properties. Participating brands Radisson, Quality Inn, Cambria, Comfort, Country Inn & Suite, and other Choice brands can add four or more Tesla Universal Wall Connectors for guests to use. Guests are able to filter their hotel search to find properties offering charging inside the Choice Hotels app. Customers who have one of Choice Hotels' branded credit cards will be eligible for points bonuses when used for charging at Choice Hotel locations. The Tesla Universal Wall Connector is a 240-volt unit that uses a 48-amp circuit and can provide 11.5 kW of power. Its primary connector is the North American Charging Standard (NACS) format while a J1772 adapter is stored in the unit itself. While not a fast charger, the availability of these units at a hotel solves the issue of charging while traveling. For a Tesla Model-3, this charger can add up to 44 miles of range per hour. The Tesla Universal Wall Connector costs $595 per unit at the time of this writing and is natively compatible with virtually all new EVs on the road today. Owners of the Nissan Leaf and other older EVs, however, are out of luck. The Cambria brand of Choice Hotels has been aggressively expanding its EV charging availability, with 41% of properties already offering at least one charger and a goal of 100% by the end of 2024. The Choice Hotel footprint includes over 7,500 hotels in 46 countries. Choice Hotels joins the Marriott and Hilton hotel chains' similar recent announcements of expanding EV charging access. Our take: Charging while you sleep has always been one of the selling points of EVs, so charging while you sleep away from home makes perfect sense. Cheers and Gears is reader-supported. The lack of AWD (which is criminal IMO) is what's keeping the Carnival from being the perfect van. Even lacking that, I would take one over any other minivan and about every CUV/SUV. Don't know if I care for the revised from end very much but will hold judgement until I see one in person. I like the clean look of the current model.1 point

Fresh off Hilton's partnership announcement with Tesla to install 20,000 chargers, Marriott has announced a partnership with EV Connect to deploy, manage, and service EV chargers at Marriott locations across the U.S. and Canada. Marriott brand hotel operators will have a turnkey solution from EV Connect to add and manage charging stations at their properties. Rather than a one-size-fits-all solution, EV Connect offers various charger capacities, including DC Fast Charging, tailored to the individual property's needs. EV Connect's interface will allow hotel operators to offer incentives and discounts to customers as well as control access. Over 6,000 Marriott-branded hotels qualify for the EV Connect package, however, each property will need to opt in. Hilton has announced that they will install up to 20,000 Tesla Universal Wall Connectors at 2,000 hotels across North America, creating the largest EV charging network in the hotel industry. The project will start in early 2024 and include at least six chargers at each selected hotel. Hilton says that customers are increasingly searching for EV charging at their hotels, with the charging availability filter being the second highest attribute that converts a search to a booking. For Hilton, allowing EV owners to charge where they park means no unnecessary stops along their journey and that adds value to Hilton's product. The Tesla Universal Wall Connector natively supports both NACS and J1772 type plugs, covering the vast majority of the new EV market, however, owners of older EVs with CHAdeMO or the Nissan Leaf will not be able to use these chargers. Using a standard 220-volt / 48-amp circuit, the 11.5 kW Tesla Universal Wall Connector can charge a Tesla Model-3 up to a rate of 44 miles of range per hour. When set up in groups of six, the Tesla Universal Wall Connector is capable of managing access, allowing locations to monitor when and who is using the charging stations. Our take: Building a charging network at locations where people naturally spend a significant time parked brings in additional customers who might otherwise go elsewhere.
