OK...the first post that Ill make to turn it around. Montreal has allocated I dont know how many more billions to fix the Olympic Stadium's roof once again. It is cheaper to spend billions than to tear it down. And at this point, the Olympic Stadium, for better or worse, symbolises Montreal. The architecture that is both beautiful and unique but arrogant and self serving and corrupt. This stadium is part of Montreal's fabric whether we as Montrealers like it or not. So might as well embrace it. Love it and live with it. Show case it the way we showcase other Montreal beauty. It is the start of the renovation project. Beautiful photography. Enjoy.3 points

While the gentleman from St Louis and the gentleman from Montreal sling dog feces at each other on the forum, America continues to decline, including American brands like Dodge and Chrysler, as well as Jeep. Multiple reasons my next car will be a Subaru or a Mazda, Toyota maybe. Although the Ranger has been excellent, just hit 121 K. There isn't much fighting for it at this point. ITs sort of like the world trade center after it got hit by a fully fueled Boeing, what has happened will lead to an inevitable (and spectacular collapse.) Rather than a short term temper tantrum on the part of both of you, perhaps we can just rationally conclude that any special relationship the two countries had is now over.3 points

Urban hiking in Montreal is awesome. Lots of locals bitch about our bike paths. And to a certain degree, they would be correct as bike paths have taken over. And as an automobilist in Montreal...yeah. BUT...what most automobilists in Montreal have failed to realize that the people, the young families that CHOSE to ACTUALLY LIVE in the city centers ENJOY those bike paths. The safety and the ease of biking anywheres in the city centers with their KIDS enjoying the OUTDOORS. Montreal was ALWAYS a walkable city until the cars invaded. The walkable and bike-able paths fought back to re-acquire what was rightfully theirs before the automobile made its appearance. And this is not even on the mountain. The mountain has its own natural preserved beauty. This is in Anjou. A burrough to the north east of the island.2 points

Montreal is cool. But all the enlightened Americans know that already. Its useless for me to state how wonderful Montreal is, its to deaf ears. Why? Miserable Americans themselves do not know how cool their own country USED to be. When America actually meant for something, let alone for them to give a shyte about Montreal. My life is great. Thanks for the encouragement. Nobody on here (certain posters) gives a shyte for that though. So...they get a dose of American reality instead. Believe me, I know how lucky I am to be living where I am. Montreal has got its problems. We are on civic elections shortly and the shortcomings of Montreal, and the Province itself (language laws again) is front and center which will spill unto the Provincial elections next year. Or the next. I now MORE about American politics at this juncture than of my own backyard... Canadians are rallying ALL by themselves to boycott ANYTHING America. It is quite the contrast of decades past to where Canadians are THAT much united. However, Quebec politics of language and Quebec culture and the protection of has crept in in these elections and are about to open old wounds DESPITE how much Quebecois are united with the rest of Canada. Our politicians. whether its Maple Maga, or Quebec culture protectionists, or Albertan, play by the Trump political playbook...2 points

You know the Blue states of which I live in one is very Anti-Idiot47! There is only so much that can be done till enough of the Red State Idiots wake up to how much the moron has taken from them. Hopefully sooner rather than later Sadly, the Supreme court just like all positions should never be for Life. Yet that will never happen sadly due to power hungry idiots that feel than can benefit from keeping the same idiot in the position for life. Honestly, voting for a party is Stupid no matter the country as it should be voting for the person with the best skill set to represent the people. Sadly, ignorant people make ignorant votes.2 points

Please keep in mind that one could consider your posts to be Trolling too! Both of you are playing to the emotions of each other and while I get you are trying to be informative as to how one out of this country is seeing it by an Idiot administration that thinks they can just take what ever they want and another that is laughing at poking the up north bear and thinks it is funny till it truly bites them in the butt. At this point, the USA is screwed till enough Americans force the Moronic politicians to represent them, the 99% of America rather than the 1% of America and hold that 1% accountable to the laws and constitution. We can start by sending back home the illegal American Musk, then also kick out all the illegal Americans, aka ex-wife and current wife along with their kids to where they came from. Then prosecute Idiot47 for the laws and constitution he has broken. Yet none of it will happen due to the Corrupt Supreme court. In other news, Ford and GM will continue to shrink while preaching good news to cover up the fact that their days as Global Auto Companies are coming to a close. Stellantis will continue to try and sell 6 figure Garbage autos made of total plastic and fail. China is the new world Superpower of Economic might and the Boomers will go to their grave thinking now is the Golden Age and those that are younger will end up with crap due to the destruction of everything by the boomers / 1% class. Ran an errand to the pharmacy for my wife and came across a new Shelby Mustang that I am pretty sure has an illegal exhaust due to how loud it was. Gave me no desire to ever want to own one as it barely moved while making ear bothersome noise. @oldshurst442 Sucks for you, seems the Mariners in the Toronto backyard beat them. Auto folks need to realize that not everyone wants an auto and would rather live in the city and use bike paths to get around and let their kids play. To achieve that, Cities are going to have to invest in safe private bike / pedestrian roads. IMHO, the day of Bikes using the same road as autos has long been over.1 point

@A Horse With No Name Just think of a Modern 442 but in EV format. The Oldsmobile 442 stands for a combination of features that define its performance: 4: Represents the four-barrel carburetor. 4: Stands for the four-speed manual transmission. 2: Indicates the dual exhaust system. 442 Performance EV 4: 4,000 HP 4: 4 motors, 1,000hp each 2: 2 door Luxury Performance Kinda how I can see this from Genesis: Sexy as hell and needs to be produced as this would excite people to own a car!!! imho1 point

Watching this forum implode along with the world, the domestic auto industry, and the country around it though is sort of amusing.1 point

Sadly I am probably the only one here that will read this, but thank you. You need to talk about how cool Montreal is, or something. Archie Bunker back in the 1970s led a miserable existence because he realized how much better everyone else's life was. Focus on the good in your life, not the lives of others. Be grateful you don't live here, and encourage other Canadians to boycott. Lithium makes great anti psychosis meds, as well as batteries. So many uses. irrelevant, most Americans would survive this civil war, and regardless of outcome would not improve current downward trajectory of US1 point

There is a really good book by Len Deighton called Violent Ward, where LA goes completely to ship (t) and things fall apart. Was a good read a couple of decades ago when I read it. Twenty years ago, this forum was well populated and relevant. Now its a pathetic shadow of its former self. Being here is like watching the final collapse of LA in that novel. I feel bad for Drew, who owns the site and is a good guy. But the site mirrors the domestic auto industry and the country that holds that domestic auto industry, all three are going to collapse into irrelevancy. We need a book with Olds on a Horse with Windmills. Don Quixote was another good read, but it takes an 8th grade literacy level which most Americans seem to actually lack. I work in a university and a surprising number of incoming Freshmen are almost functionally illiterate. Would love to live in a world where cars like a 70 442 were still relevant, or where we had interesting, profitable American EV's. I do like the lightening and a few of the hummers. But in this world, the 442 is following other American muscle cars, the American auto industry, the country, and this site into oblivion. Feel free to request meds. I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but god damn, the windmills thing son....and I don't mean modern renewables...Don...don Quixote... America needs a divorce, where sane places like Washington, Oregon and Northern California can form a country called Cascadia and other states can descend into 1820 socially, politically, and religiously, and then 1620. When were the witches hung in Salem, Mass again? Its going to become an irrelevant third world fascist state. give it thirty years, or weeks, or minutes, god only knows how long.1 point

There is nothing to do. Listen to Richard Wolf, the collapse is inevitable at this point. America is incapable of governing itself, and thus the economic collapse will keep America from causing negative consequences around the world. Given the Belt and Road initiative and other positive things on the BRICKS side, a Chinese century is preferable to an American century at this point. The 21st century should be the Chinese century, and Canada is doing the rational thing getting rid of tariffs on Chinese EV's as the domestic automakers are destined to fail and disappear. Better Canadians don't own vehicles that are obsolete that they can't get parts for.1 point

Yup. And Canada is on the precipice of actually de-coupling from the US and the Big 2 and a half. Which will spell danger on the behalf of MORE Americans. Canada will try to broker deals with other car makers if China does not want to come here to BUILD cars and only sell them. Other countries WANT to make trade deals with Canada. The hurt will be at a minimum as much as it can. 120 plus years of US/Canada car building there. But it is Americans that have DECIDED on this way forward. Yeah...it sucks. But I am happy to where you and I could tease one another. You personally David. And it happens to be against Seattle. Your hometown. So that is friendly fire from you to me and vice versa. But...MLB is mostly American players so...phoque them... However, many are from Latin America too that lay in the MLB. Something something about immigration policies across the US...1 point

I am not trolling. I am stating my feelings. And they are REAl. And I honestly DO think your country is useless at this point in time. Does @ccap41 actually want the annexation of Canada? YOUR president HAS threatened Canada. YOUR president REPRESENTS ALL of the US. YOUR country has levied tariffs on Canada and the while LYING about the reasons. YOUR citizens are CLUELESS and INDIFFERENT to what happens to not only my country with these tariffs, but to yours too but @ccap41 is peeved because I express my anger towards your shytty country? Listen @G. David Felt My feelings are warranted towards YOUR country. Tell me to stop. Ill stop. But do NOT tell me I am trolling. I am posting NEWS about your country with MY honest feelings towards the reality of it all. If I piss off any American feeling because reality is a bitch... oh well... But do NOT tell me I am trolling. I am not. Its all sincere. And... There was a discussion about guns and safety. I shout at the top of Mount Rainier how Americans continue to kill each other with guns. I say its because Americans are too dumb, too selfish, too cavalier to own guns and somehow that is far from reality? Two more public shootings happened in two different areas of your country on TOP of all the fascist directions your government is taking... Listen @G. David Felt I know your country is going through rough times. But fight for it. YOU guys ALONE caused it. Why do I PERSIST in SHOVING IT IN YOUR FACE!!! Because YOU need to HEAR it so you could FIGHT for your rights and freedoms. Direct your annoyance of me to where it NEEDS to be directed. And when will that be? When will you STOP as a people, pointing the gun at your fellow American and start using your voice and power of the people to STOP the lunacy? By trolling ME with 51st state pics on the web? I post burning of the American flag to make YOU rage AGAINST what is keeping YOUR freedoms away from you. It is NOT ME that is doing that to you. Its your president with his 1% rich folk. You are angry at me? HA! Be angry at who is doing this to you and DO something about it!!!1 point

Yet you, or @ccap41 expects me or any other Canadian to fight for you? To defend YOUR shytty decisions on voting for Trump, for YOUR right NOT to fight for your country? Why is ANY American getting offended by any Canadian mocking your shytty country and LETTING it be known that its OVER on OUR side BECAUSE America itself CHOSE for the relationship to be over between Canada and the US? Is it because Canada didnt ask America's permission? Is it because American's (@ccap) ego is fragile? @ccap41 or ANYBODY else has to face the music whether it comes from a Canadian or not, and they HAVE to accept it whether they like it or not. @A Horse With No Name you choose not to fight for your country. It is your right to do so. @ccap41 could decide to fight for his country by parroting a fascist and trolling. It is his right to do so. But it is MY right to shove REALITY in YOUR faces. It is MY right to fight for MY country as however I wish. And if I feel EXTREME hatred towards your damned upside down country...oh well. Keep in mind it is a war started by YOU guys... Even if some of you were robbed of knowing the truth. Well, here is the truth. Suck on it for awhile.1 point

Now that we have covered the hourly Politics of North Versus South, lets return to our regularly scheduled discussion of this EV. It will compete against BYD, I think for a commuter auto, this is good and should do good, sadly, GM and Ford days of selling in Canada and Mexico are over. Their market will shrink and even with Ford in Europe, their sales have tanked due to Idiot47 and as such, I do not see much growth for Ford or Cadillac in Europe. There are superior products from Korea to choose over garbage Tesla, Ford, or GM. Before anyone says but you were a GM fan. Yes, I used to own all GM products for 34 years, but not any longer as I move to better products from other companies that do not dictate what I can and cannot do with my auto. Ford might have AA/CP but they are 400V tech and are years away from updating them. GM is also 400V tech for the most part and even on their full-size trucks and SUVs are not really a true 800V system, but then GM chooses what you can and cannot do with your auto including what you can and cannot buy from the GM controlled Google Store. As such, American Auto industry has died as they have given up choice.1 point

@ccap41 I guess when American troops cross our border to try to annex Canada all we have to do is to close all access to food? I guess this guy WAS right after all... Real hard to do though... Your society is addicted to that shyte The jokes just write themselves while STILL stating TRUTH... @ccap41 Are you still mad at me poking fun of your useless country? You know why your trolling does not bother me? Because its just that...trolling. With FAKE rhetoric. In my case denouncing YOUR dumb ass country...well...reality must be a bitch to face it.1 point

Anything better than American garbage. Your industry will disappear if and when Canada decides to let in Chinese EVs. Canada could produce them saving Canadian jobs while yet another industry will disappear from the US and then you phoques will resort to more violence killing yourselves to death. That is why Canada will never become the 51st state. There will be nothing left of the US... With friends like Americans, who the phoque needs enemies... Besides, China would make for a better ally. The irony.1 point

https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/trump-chicago-ice-raids-south-side-apartments-rcna236549 As federal agents swarm American cities on the orders of President Donald Trump, it’s getting harder and harder to tell “law enforcement” from the criminals they claim to protect us from. In just the past two weeks, in Chicago alone, it’s all too easy to find accounts and videos of federal immigration authorities committing wanton violence rather than serving the public. On the city’s South Side, an apartment building was stormed in a late-night, military-style raid, with dozens of residents dragged indiscriminately from their beds and homes. Witnesses said they saw children separated from their parents and restrained by zip ties. (Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin denied this, calling it “a shameful and disgusting lie.”) At Humboldt Park Hospital, Chicago Alderperson Jessie Fuentes was manhandled and handcuffed by federal agents in civilian clothing for the “crime” of asking them to produce a judicial warrant. Video of the incident clearly shows that Fuentes remained calm, neither touching nor hampering the agents.1 point

The way Americans are conducting themselves towards each other? The pubic shootings are even MORE frequent then ever before. The uneducated levels of Americans even the blue states is embarrassing. And the sheer amount of racism, bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia going on... Yeah...no thanks. Phoque the US and everything that it represents... Besides... Canada and Mexico are sovereign countries that have their own identities and cultures going on for themselves and are as different as it can be. And this is a recent development. Id say at around January of 2020. The split that Trump has made has alienated the US from Canada or Mexico, that Im afraid, our relations that we had in the past are almost irreparable. The ignorance of even normal Americans of Trumps shenanigans and the surprise that Canadians are angry at you guys is enough for me to say...phoque off forever!1 point

I wish it looked more like the Trax, which I think is really well styled for a cheap car. I think the price on the Bolt is good, the range and performance is fine for a sub $30k car. It does look a lot like the old Bolt EUV which doesn't have good promotions. Stretch the wheelbase 4 inches and drop the roof 2 inches and widen it 2 inches and they'd be on to something.1 point

Today, Ford took the wraps off its breakthrough Universal Vehicle Platform, a new EV platform intended to bring a new level of affordability to electric vehicles. Ford is investing $5 billion in its Louisville, KY assembly plant and the BlueOval Battery Park in Michigan to bring this new platform to life. As part of this project, the Louisville plant will expand by 52,000 square feet and secure 2,200 jobs. The first UVP product will be a 4-door electric pickup with a targeted base price of $30,000 and going on sale in 2027. Ford says it will have more passenger space than a Toyota RAV-4 and be faster than an Ecoboost Mustang while having a frunk and truck bed. Ford is taking the inspiration for the Universal Vehicle Platform from the Model-T built over 100 years ago. The idea is that Ford will have one platform that supports multiple body styles. While the first vehicle is a mid-size truck, the platform is destined to support sedans, crossovers, and sports cars. The platform reduces parts by 20%, uses 25% fewer fasteners, and 4,000 fewer feet of wiring than Ford's first-gen electric SUV, the Ford Mach-E. With this new innovation, Ford is again innovating the production line as it did with the Model-T. Instead of using a single line, Ford will move to a production tree, three parallel lines move sub-assemblies down simultaneously and then joined together mid-way through. Ford is using large, single-piece aluminum castings to allow the frond and rear of the vehicle to be assembled separately. Ford predicts that this new process will speed vehicle assembly by up to 40%. Some of that savings will be redirected to quality control for a net speed increase of 15%. The big bet Ford is making is on new prismatic LFP batteries, built in the United States. These new batteries are cobalt-free and nickle-free, greatly increasing the sustainability of the batteries' construction. The battery pack is structural to the vehicle, giving a lower center of gravity and greater interior space.1 point
