    FUTURE_OF_GM

Those bullet points aren't all in exact order but they generally paint the picture. Modding can be a lot of fun, but it is also a huge pain in the ass. I never had problems with any of the current modding staff, and I think they are some of the most excellect, capable mods out there. I think the fact that this site is so damned awesome is testament to it all. I wish FOG the best of luck wherever, and hope that he's happy with whatever he does. To reiterate what Satty said upthread...a lot of people have stepped up or down over the years and the site keeps on keeping on. The reasons differ immensely for each mod who has stepped down, but one thing has always been the same: they cared about the site, they perceived a rift, difference in vision/direction/whatever, and because they still cared about the site they decided to step down and avoid a lot of drama in the interests of the site and its members. The reason I'm posting this is because as someone who has worked on this team waaaaaaaay back up until April/May 2005, there is not a "bad guy" on the team. FOG is a great guy and so are all the other mods. NO ONE should think less of anyone right now because of this. Love him or hate him, FOG has been a strong character on this site and generally a pretty good mod. Modding sucks. You have to get on people and stuff. But it creates a better environment and keeps things going smoothely. It's the most thankless job too--very rarely will you get a PM saying "wow great job you handled ___ really well!" But every day you will get one "OMG YOU ARE TEH DOUCHE!!!!111" because someone doesn't like one part of one decision you made. So yea, appreciate the mods. They do so much work around here, and make this site as awesome as it is. It's sad to see FOG go (I hope he reconsiders), and I'd love to get a PM from him talking about all this (hint hint) not in public. But at the same time, the site is in more than capable hands. Cheers, everyone! (and Gears)
  2. It's interesting to note that the Milan outsold the MKZ, even though they share the same showrooms. Also, Mariner did pretty well too. I certainly see the hybrids running around LA regularly...
  3. Huh? Prove me right about what? I have no clue what you're even referring to...???SRX sales were up 6.2% It's a simple fact, and I'm only interested in it to the extent that January is the first month I know many dealers have been able to sell the refreshed 2007s. Many dealerships were (and still are) stuck with a glut of 2006 models and as a result 2007 ramp-up has been slow as GM has tried to sell old inventory. Considering the SRX is generally regarded as best-in-class, I'm curious as to how the market responds now that it's fixed its biggest weakness, the cheapo interior.
  4. The AURA will take off once it gets a class-competitive interior and not just a class-adequate one. Seriously, everything else about it is spot-on.
  5. SRX up 6.2%
  6. I love the swoosh along the lower air intake and the fogs...makes it appear like it's always in motion.

    Comedians

OK, the apocolypse is coming, since I gotta agree with you Chris on the above quote...I can understand not liking Rosie...but Ellen? She's hilarious, and not the least bit "militant"! Sorry Bob, but I think you got a problem...Other comedians? Eh, not big into "comedians" but I do love the genius behind South Park, Wonder Showzen, and Family Guy.
  8. How do you figure? Diesels make perfect sense for here...especially with the clean diesel fuel coming soon.

  10. I've heard that about the Sony plasmas...which is why Sony doesn't make plasmas anymore. The best in the business seem to be Panasonic, and they undeniably have the best black display of the plasmas.
  11. Dude, you just need to put a Baby On Board sign in the window and the look will be complete.
  12. I have had the SmartSlide work horribly for me (just like you described) in an OUTLOOK at the LA show and then in Indianapolis it worked perfectly in an Acadia. Maybe they were overtightened or something.
  13. For some reason I'm laughing my ass off over that!
  14. It looks nice!! I'm just dismayed you didn't get a navigation system considering how much you love those :AH-HA_wink:
  15. Maybe they haven't had Cadillac hearses in Europe like in the USA...and I personally think it is a modern, eye-catching design...but I just reported on what other people think...I don't really see the hearse part.
  16. Looks like the SRX is Caddy's biggest seller in Europe...nearly half of EU sales were the SRX according to those figures.
  17. SRX is fine for Europe. Escalade? No effin way. GM should offer XLR, CTS, STS/SLS and SRX in Europe. If they can make the BLS competent, then that too; but as of now it is too half-baked to be a serious contender, though I am personally fond of it.
  18. Great news, man!
  19. GNC has these melatonin things that are natural sleep aids...I take a quadruple dose and then I'm good.
  20. The surveillance is likely an inexpensive system that rewrites over itself after an hour or so...so I'd get on it ASAP. Hopefully you can figure it out...also if you have a close approximation of when it happened, doesn't the grocery time-stamp all their records of transactions? If this is a small store, you could narrow it down...that is if you care enough to do so.
  21. Could it be that I really just lost interest three days ago?
  22. Turbo, you seem to be quite the feminist!
  23. No, Miss Teen USA is a WOMAN. You live in LA now man...this isn't the midwest anymore! Are you naive to think people haven't done cocaine in high school? It's no different in New York! I know several people who went through a cocaine phase when they were 14 15 and 16. They cleaned up their act and now they're fine...but trying cocaine at 18 is really not that unusual, especially in cities like LA and NYC, and again she isn't some little girl, she's a woman, even in the eyes of the law.
  24. And you know all that how...? It's so funny/ironic that you tried to argue that my criticisms of Rosie were unfounded because I don't personally know her or her family! Are you telling me you're best friends with Miss USA? How do you know all that? All we can judge public figures on is how they act publicly. Rosie acts like a bully publicly. Miss USA acted very apologetic/embarrassed/regretful publicly. And since the multitudes of teenage girls who allegedly model their lives after Miss USA only see her public behavior, they will see that out-of-control partying leads to rehab/public humiliation...a negative consequence.
  25. Please...she wasn't celebrated for it! She got sent to rehab and had to go public and admit she was wrong! The humiliation of that is punishment enough!
