  1. Compare: I'd say the 2008 Malibu is extremely competitive, with only the Jetta, Passat and Camry truly competing with it. The Accord comes close, thus rounding out the top 5 IMO. I feel really bad for Hyundai. And Pontiac. Ford's doesn't look so hot in comparison, either. Mazda's clearly getting dated, but isn't it the oldest model represented, too?
  2. This looks really nice. I agree on offering real nav, it is a necessity. I am really starting to have some hope, and cannot wait to see the exterior at Detroit. Just as it was 3 years ago.
  3. You mean the ones that mimic the character lines of the profile, leading to the visual effect of motion even when stationary?
  4. Fact is, GM should allow all its customers an upgrade/retrofit opportunity at the discretion of the customer. I'm sorry, but WHY can't GM upgrade analog-only customers with dual or digital only equipment? They have over a year to find some kind of retrofit, and since many models became dual NOT at the start of an all-new model, I highly doubt it is physically impossible to take an analog-only and at the very least make it dual through a physical equipment upgrade. I'm just trying to fathom what pathetic excuse GM will hide behind on this one..."newer equipment won't fit in a vehicle?" Then install one of those little transmitters on the roof of the car! These older OnStar customers were the ones with the antennae that would fall off the rear windshield, so I KNOW OnStar can be attached to a vehicle. Unless someone with some insider technical knowledge can prove to me it is impossible to install new OnStar equipment, I'm not going to believe this. Does OnStar never break? Does the equipment never become fried? What has GM done then in those cases? Just said "Oops, you no longer can have OnStar?" B.S.!
  5. Except in this case they are quite accurate. I know no one with a Mercedes without reliability problems. Ours is in the shop 5+ times a year. We're at the point where we are looking to get rid of it. We took it in a month ago because the check engine light came on (yet again) and when my father was looking at the work order by picking it up, he saw it failed a battery test, had a fluid leak in the power steering, the suspension joints needed replacement (again) and there was some problem with the ABS. When my father asked why he was never told about these additional problems, they had the nerve to tell him "Oh, well they don't need fixing NOW, but they will in another month or two."To say he was livid is an understatement. Add to that the fact the CD player no longer plays burned discs (--"Oh, you're lucky it even worked to begin with! Most of them don't even play them in the beginning!" --"But it said they should!" --"You said your 6-disc changer plays them fine, so no problem." --"But that's in the cargo area!" --"We can't fix it.") Consider this is the kind of reliability we've had for the majority of the past 4 years (in addition to piss-poor build quality), we aren't ever owning another MB again... "Pretty to look at, nice to behold, but constantly breaking after just a year old."
  6. Disagree. I think the big wheel arches add class to it, as they kinda evoke the huge wheel arches on pre-war cars.
  7. Some of the logic is good, but much of it is flawed. You need some kind of order. Also, some of those warning signs are necessary, such as when there are intersections around blind curves. I do agree that getting rid of stop signs and some traffic lights in lieu of roundabouts is a good idea, but sometimes they are still necessary. I think re-evaluating the necessity of signage in many cases is good; much of it is unnecessary. But there needs to be a middle ground...it isn't a binary of signs everywhere or none at all.
  8. hahahahaha i love vintage SNL...
  9. I'm very confused as to why these "cannot" be upgraded. I frankly don't buy it. GM needs to go the extra mile and upgrade them all. Sheer stupidity...
  10. I still think we will win. It WILL be a nailbiter for sure though...
  11. So we won...decently too. I'm happy. USC v. OSU BSC title game I'm calling it now.
  12. Yea it's a pretty lame game. BTW for the record I'm not a fan of people with two first names...especially not now.
  13. It's certainly possible. I mean it all comes down to the BCS score. The next weeks will decide everything. It all depends on how USC handles Cal today, ND next week, and finally UCLA. Depending on how the games go, and the score spread, we could end up #2. Or stay #3. Same with Michigan. I'm gonna wait until tomorrow night before I analyze this. But all I know is if USC somehow gets to the BCS title game, USC will have to start our semester 2 days late...which would rock.
  14. Sorry, I'll be watching Cal and USC...but I'll be pissed if OSU goes down. I want USC to play them for the BCS title (isn't it hilarious we're back at #3?)
  15. Well the Presidential limo is on a truck chassis with a DTS shell...I'm not sure about the other armored vehicles, hence the question. Armoring a car is an expensive undertaking too.My guess is the DTS-L is just a stretched DTS...
  16. Yea, but I highly doubt it's a coincidence that the bird looks like a hawk and then there was that one edition of the Firebird...Firehawk. I think it's a nod to past performance Pontiac convertibles...
  17. But wasn't the armored one actually based on a truck platform? This still sounds K-body to me...I mean I have no problem envisioning what this will be based on the short description in the article...my father owns a DTS and I can easily imagine the stretch.
  18. Bird shadow? When I saw it first thing I thought was it was paying homage to the Firebird.
  19. I don't get it. That link goes to the old armored stretch Deville. Are you saying this is the updated version? I ask because the article said this would be available in dealerships, and I've never seen one of the armored cars in a dealership.
  20. Yea a lot of angles/proportions are way off...
  21. yessssssssssss that's what im talkin' about!
  22. Safari?
  23. Ah OK...well PM me then.
