  1. Whenever Lutz retires, I think./hope he has instilled the right kind of culture that should last a while after his departure. And while he might not be a full-time VP/board member, I wouldn't be surprised if he was kept on as a consultant. To totally butcher an old saying, You can take the guy out of the auto industry, but you can't take the auto industry out of the guy.

being an auto enthusaist website, we tend to be tougher on cars in general, ESPECIALLY if it isn't a GM product. my roommate wanted one, till he drove it. Said he thought it was gutless and made my Sunfire seem like it had balls. Which says a lot, cause he drives a Mustang and LOVES to mock it. personally, haven't driven one, but the look is meh. Plus, the fact its not trail rated cheapens it (and the Jeep brand) IMO.
  3. very similar, but different. They were definitely going for family resemblance I think
  4. for this $h!? pfft We had worse weather in London and I don't remember Western ever shutting down. Hell, back in Barrie this was the norm It only took 15min longer for me to get to work (Miss - Square 1 > 404 & 7 in Richmond Hill), and thats only because of all the other slow drivers. I was passing people left right and center in my $h!fire this morning on the highway. Snowtires OWN!
  5. Don't think I like it, but its hard to tell. have to see them on the road before I pass judgment.
  6. If the car is already undergoing road testing, and Holden has capacity on their Zeta flex line, why are we waiting so long for the Camaro? Why not build it down there for a year as they ramp up Oshawa, like they are doing with the Commadore/G8
  7. typically i'll just throw it in neutral. but if there's a way to go, I'll downshift. in general, i'd rather let my brakes take the wear from slowing down than clutch and tranny.
  8. It wouldn't be at the top of the list (last gen M3 & CTS-V being 1 & 2), but overall I like. The body kit is a little over the edge, but other wise not a bad. I like the interior. Looking at a bigger picture of the Camry steering wheel, they don't look that similar to me. At least not much more similar than many steering wheels out there. Hell, I think it more closely resembles the CTS steering wheel.
  9. if they can make pretty much everything you can't see the same, go for it. as long as the components that can make the difference from high end to low end aren't commonized, ie. suspension. I wouldn't want my 300 to handle like a caliber, or caliber to go up in price cause its got a 300's suspension. even the flush mount buttons can be made to use common switches to a point. Really, as long as the 'A' surfaces are somewhat different, who cars. Even just a different paint and/or font can make a difference.
  10. if they can post a profit/share without adding a loss/share including one time expenses et al, that will look great. the media & public will have one less thing to slam GM for
  11. as an engineer, I've never said, or heard anybody say 5ths. 1/4's, 1/8, etc yes, 1/5ths no. all the part drawings i've seen in the auto industry are all metric anyway
  12. so 2 year old's can job's designing cars but I can't?
  13. Whop-di-f@#kin do. A foreign owned manufacturer entering NASCAR is nothing new. Chrysler was owned by Germans when it got back into NASCAR in 2001. Plus, at least the "Camry"'s namesake is built by Americans who watch NASCAR, which is more than can be said for the "Charger" and "Monte Carlo"
  14. I like smallish tattoo's on a women's ankle, calf and back, not necessarily the small of the back though. Arms, chest, upper legs tend not to do anything for me. My g/f has a 4" diameter tattoos between her shoulder blades and I love it. Then again, I like tattoos in general (I have 7 of them). That being said, being an engineer, I've put and plan to put my tattoo's in places that can't be seen when I'm standing or sitting in the clothes I might wear to work, ie. a short sleeved shirt and shorts (even though I will probably always where pants)
  15. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. A lot of people I've talked to love the look, myself included. My roommate, who said he wouldn't buy another GM when he got his Mazda 6 sport a couple of years ago seems to have had his mind changed by this car and said he'll probably get it when the lease on his 6 is out.
  16. damnit! why couldn't they buy into proton back when they owned MV Agusta (the ferrari of motorcycles) so I coulda used my GM visa points to get one
  17. stopgap? I thought this WAS gonna be the next gen GP, not just a holdover.
  18. BMW made machines for the nazi's too. lets not forget Toyota, Komatsu, Nissan and Isuzu made trucks for the Japanese army, Mitsubishi and Kawasaki made missles. $h! happens mistakes were made and hindsight is 20-20. Not to mention, GM's decision makers from back then are all dead or dying now.
  19. I know, that was the point I was trying to make. ls2, manual tranny, rwd....this thing has little to do with the production version see above
  20. love the 2 wing setup
  21. ya, the street edition is fugly, but remember, there is a base version GXP that comes un-fugified.
  22. not sure, but here's the DFP article http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article.../301070002/1014
  23. The G6 GXP comes with an LS2? I think not. On top of that, it has 5 speed sequential manual and is RWD, as opposed to 5 speed auto FWD. Now I understand some changes should/have to be made for racing/safety purposes, but when you change the drive wheels, and to a lesser degree, all the body panels and the transmission, you're getting close to NASCAR's definition of stock. I understand why they did it, because GM doesn't have a true RWD homologated car, but geez, why not just keep the GTO.R around until Zeta racer was ready.
  24. http://www6.autonet.ca/News/story.cfm?stor...3156972-cp.html i get the feeling Toyota, GM, Honda & Ford aren't going anywhere seeing as they've pumped billions into new plants or plant upgrades.
  25. +1 Everybody's cars will be shutting down. craptacular. imagine you're on the highway, and some idiot starts to move into your lane, and there's a moron on your ass. You can a) swerve to him, car shuts off, you get rear-ended b)keep going and hit him c)brake and get rear-ended anyway, you're f@#ked....really f@#king safe
