  1. A stickshift corolla? Sure, those things get great gas mileage! I offer $10 + shipping and handling for this vehicle.
  2. Your support for your company should be limited to the quality of your work and should NOT include financial kickbacks to your employer through product purchases, I CANNOT stress this enough!
  3. i've been too lazy to sleep
  4. Smart people can't figure it out, why is it that we think we can on a car message board?
  5. Welcome to capitalism. You should not be forced to buy a product from the company YOU'RE WORKING FOR in order to park in its employees' parking lot. You agreed to complete your job duties in order to earn your salary. If you're completing your job as required, they shouldn't ask for more! This is business, and business only.
  6. Only in the first picture IMO.
  7. People are open minded, but people are also far too used to retail, consumery 'way too clean' places. Sometimes when I go out to buy food or random crap I'm almost sickened by how sterile chain stores can be. I'm much more at home in quirky little Montrose shops and smaller independent restaurants. There are a lot of people who share that belief with me, but do it in order to differentiate themselves and be 'cooler' than the consumery folks. Personally though, I'm just turned off by it. I also notice a lot less rebelliousness among young people. It seems to be cool to "do the right thing" and "be helpful". I'm not sure how this is going to affect their development socially, but I find it pretty disturbing. Then again I find it somewhat repulsive when any of my friends is unduly submissive. Having a spine is important.
  8. Gay people tend to arrive as the result of heterosexual sex, but I knew one girl in high school whose mother is most certainly lesbian. That she managed to get herself inseminated doesn't make her straight; just as going to afterhours dance clubs doesn't make me gay. Mules can't get together and make more mules, but they aren't going anywhere soon.
  9. Jam out with your clam out! (this might have originated with my friends, but anything's possible.)
  10. most of the buildings aroud here are well-constructed enough to handle a category 1 or 2 storm, possibly even 3. but a category 5 is pretty unprecedented. apparently it wont' be the best place to have a house for the next 20-30 years but up until now it seemed reasonable to build here. time makes fools of us all...
  11. hah, yeah. I think it's a little immature how some people are reacting here.
  12. hooray i've made it slightly west and in record time!
  13. well most of the gas stations around here are more often out of gas than having gas, and all the outbound roads are nearly gridlocked. it looks like we're staying in houston.
  14. it won't be as bad as katrina or double your money back!
  15. http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/hurricane.asp yawn but yeah, this hurricane business sucks. i'll probably get back to you guys with some pretty amazing pictures in a couple weeks...
  16. Nah, it was a reference to the Honeymooners being the first astronauts. I'm sure the USSR had some pretty brilliant rocketry up their sleeves, but it didn't make it anywhere near their launch pads... (but they did get to space before us.)
  17. Americans had a little trouble with understanding the effects of added weight/mass, as evidenced by the first astronauts and many of its older and current automobiles!
  18. Eeeease off the pedal there, Jeff Gordon. The Venture Star was far from ideal. Don't have to go off calling people idiots for no good reason!
  19. you mean T56?

    Investing

pay attention to the market and don't invest too much in your own employer. putting all of your eggs in one basket is pretty risky if you're not going to pay attention to what all is going on. conversely, diversifying too much is not sufficiently risky, at least not if you want to actually earn anything from your investments. i highly recommend the books "investing for dummies" and "rich dad, poor dad" (ignore the real estate dogma, real estate is not for everybody but there are brilliant insights in the book.)
  21. i'm still gradually recovering... we stayed out from around 11 PM to 6:30 AM... not much in the way of a kegger, the warehouse proper was BYOB, but the afterhours place only served energy drinks and water.
  22. i can't seem to shake the thought that perhaps not everybody is certain of their sexual orientation (cf. those of you who dated one gender awkwardly, then found peace in the other, were you always sure in the before time?)
  23. hmmm... I saw an Aston Martin V12 Vanquish recently, as well as an HHR at the office, a Ferrari F355 Berlinetta that usually parks next to me now... but I haven't seen a single Solstice.
  24. are you nuts? it'd have to be several feet tall for the center of gravity to shift enough for that to happen! ...oh.
