  1. Mercedes Benz took a page from Apple in pointing to the Technology Giants SDK or Software Development Kit that they released and within the first day over 100,000 downloads were done as people started to build aps for their Apple Store. Today MB announced their new SDK available immediately for those that wish to build apps for the MB Auto App Store. https://media.daimler.com/marsMediaSite/en/instance/ko/Mercedes-Benz-Mobile-Software-Development-Kit-Mercedes-Benz-is-one-of-the-first-automotive-manufacturers-to-make-its-own-mobile-Software-Development-Kit-SDK-available-to-developers.xhtml?oid=44399862&ls=L2VuL2luc3RhbmNlL2tvLnhodG1sP29pZD00ODM2MjU4JnJlbElkPTYwODI5JmZyb21PaWQ9NDgzNjI1OCZib3JkZXJzPXRydWUmcmVzdWx0SW5mb1R5cGVJZD00MDYyNiZ2aWV3VHlwZT10aHVtYnM!&rs=0
  2. Frankfurt Motor show has brought out the big guns of Climate Change zealots that want all consumer trucks and especially SUVs to be banned. Yet the auto industry says that the CUV/SUV/Trucks will actually help drive the change over to EVs due to the ease of various size battery packaging compared to cars. https://ihsmarkit.com/research-analysis/frankfurt-motor-show-2019-climate-change-campaigners.html?itx[idio]=525794340&ito=1038&itq=7a287443-b85a-40e7-b904-8f2019318504
  3. GM Climate Change Study Report to the EPA which GM has been working on this since 1994. https://archive.epa.gov/epawaste/conserve/smm/wastewise/web/pdf/gm_factsheet.pdf GM's latest update and a rewrite of their carbon neutral goals has them achieving this in the 2020's time frame compared to 20 years later for MB. Seems MB is not the Best or Nothing, more nothing. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/general-motors/2017/06/30/gm-sustainability-goals/103331390/ While Ford has not set Carbon Neutral goals, they did set reductions of 30% and achieved it 8 years early. https://www.autonews.com/article/20180627/OEM/180629827/ford-hits-carbon-emissions-target-8-years-early Here is the current update on GMs sustainability report which shows them making great progress. https://www.gmsustainability.com/manage/products.html
  4. Exactly, look at all the billions wasted on Alfa, Dead reborn and still pretty much dead while the US brands that financed that BS pet project continue to scrape along.
  5. There is a guy that for 13yrs has been tuning regular auto's to sound like F1 race cars. While cool skill, not really sure I am a fan of a high pitch sound on a big block motor. https://jalopnik.com/meet-the-quiet-japanese-tuner-who-makes-your-old-merced-1831320490
  6. Agree, a bigger EV F-Pace would compliment the compact i-Pace.
  7. I think rather than waste money on trying to bring a specific brand back from the dead, move forward with a new technology and build a 21st century ultimate luxury line or performance line and incorporate things that were desired back then and is still desired today but in a 21st century take. Could possibly be done by Tesla or Rivian once they get profitable.
  8. @Paolino Congratulations, lovely looking sedan!
  9. This is just all kinds of WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! FAILURE on the X8 and clearly still is here!
  10. Rivian gets a $350 Million investment from Cox Automotive that also includes services which Cox Automotive will work with Rivian to cover Marketing, Delivery, Service Operations, logistics and digital retailing for a total investment valued at $500 million. https://www.foxnews.com/auto/500-million-truck-rivian-electric-pickup This should really help RIvian avoid some of the major pitfalls that Tesla has stumbled over.
  11. Side profile looks like it has been smoothed out for an EV and Hybrid version. Better wind flow.
  12. Cat Butt or Buffalo Butt, that is what that new grill comes across to me as. Clearly NOT GOOD BMW.
  13. Very cool tech, be interested to see which engines they incorporate this into.
  14. Clearly you are dyslexic as Porsche will work off all the 250 kW chargers, but it is ALREADY 800 Charger ready and will charge at 800 at the dealerships which are all required to have these extreme fast chargers. That is why Mercedes-benz has FAILED! FAILED TO EQUAL PORSCHE, and you call this the best? ?
  15. Interior is not bad, exterior is a jelly bean blob of nothing. If Mercedes-benz is the BEST OR NOTHING AT ALL, why only 350 kW fast charging when F1e racing using 900 kW charging and Porsche is using 800. This DOES NOT sound like the best or nothing.
  16. In other news, seems a number of key states have officially fallen into a recession from mid-west to east coast. Pennsylvania alone shed 8,000 manufacturing jobs this year. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2019-09-09/a-manufacturing-recession-could-cost-trump-a-second-term Seems a wide diverse group of manufactures from auto company suppliers to farm equipment manifactures are in contraction.
  17. Happy Birthday @dwightlooi It has been great having you share your auto engine knowledge. Thank you!
  18. You can be my CFO!
  19. Boy did Ghosen really leave the auto industry screwed for this and a couple other companies.
  20. Bummer for the US market on the initial launch, but let them work the bugs out on the European market first and then bring Rev 2.0 of the controller software to the US Market.
  21. ? My one big question for these hybrids is with an electric motor in the transmission, if it fails does it take out the whole transmission so the auto cannot move at all or goes into a Limp Home mode or what? Would be interesting to know what happens if the electric motor in the transmission fails.
  22. According to their press releases, they are working with a wide range of OEMs in current various phases of testing to go full production and we should see various products based on this technology across the technology portfolio of smartphones to auto's in 2020. Their web site says for current EVs, if using this material those battery packs would be 6 min or less depending on capacity. So a 6 min charge for a 239 mile BOLT or 6 min charge for a 300 mile tesla maybe???? ? That is unclear and I emailed off to their inquiry email address asking for clarification on the 6 minutes for auto recharging.
  23. Let's hope they stay true to the roots and keep it a RWD SUV rather than a FWD CUV based. If they do that I think it will still sell but loose some off road creds for a FWD/AWD CUV.
  24. According to Chargedevs.com Mercedes-benz has launched 3 compact PHEVs. A 250e A 250e Saloon B 250e All will have a 15.6 kWh battery good for 70-75 km with electric output of 75 kW, total system of 160 kW and torque of 450 Nm. For us Americans that is 214 HP / 332 lb-ft. https://chargedevs.com/newswire/mercedes-benz-launches-three-compact-phevs/
