Detroit 2019: 2019 Subaru WRX STi S209: Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Very true, I agree that GM missed really taking the Escalade to the next level. With that said, they are still one of the comfiest road trip auto's to have for large people like me. Biggest problem that they did not correct till the next generation of Escalade was that from 2006 to 2007, the 2007 lost the ability for large people to put the seat on the floor and it cost head room and space. That cheapness of the power seat system to save a few dollars was just pathetic. Another reason I love the 2006 over the platform change in 2007.

GMC News: GMC Introduces the 2020 Sierra Heavy Duty
I get the eyebrow LED thing but the over all cars especially still look like circa 1990's to me and having 1 or 2 or 3 rows of LED lights to tell them apart really is not enough to tell the difference at a quick glance. Now FORD and GM with their Trucks have made some clear differences and built some easy to see day time running lights with the LEDs. Fords are so bright in some cases I have wondered if they have high beams on. I do like the way GMC has done it better than Ford.

Jeep News: FCA To Launch Pilot Programs for Car-Sharing and Subscription via Jeep
For me this will never be something I would use as most people do not take care of an auto the way I do. Most people treat an auto like a disposable consumable and so why would I want to share an auto and pay on something that the other person would just possibly trash. Nope, not for me and never will be. Want proof of how bad it is look at how rental auto's are treated and trashed.

GMC News: GMC Introduces the 2020 Sierra Heavy Duty
Just pointing out SMK continuous MB Best Luxury Brand ever with their style, quality, blah blah blah blah and how most cannot tell it apart. You are correct that pretty much all Auto companies have moved to a single consistent design that grows stale over time. MB, BMW and Audi I would say take the cake for some of the oldest looking new auto's out there.

GMC News: GMC Introduces the 2020 Sierra Heavy Duty
Yet your favorite Luxury brand, the #1 selling product line did a pathetic re-badge of a Japanese truck. That is Forgettable along with the hard to tell apart style of S-Class to A-Class.

Chicago 2019: 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition: Comments
Yet what Toyota has been left to ROT on the vine as you say like the G-Wagon was. Rotting from 1972 inception till 2018. Yes according to MB they did updates and tweaks, but the core of the auto was the same for 46 years. Yes if you go by Wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_G-Class) you will say it was new due to a revised chassis so 1990 to 2018 was a new model compared to 1972 to 1989. So if we go that route you have 17 years before any major changes to the core and then 28 years. Toyota has not left anything that long on the same platform.

Detroit 2019: 2019 Subaru WRX STi S209: Comments
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)@dwightlooi Totally agree with you on the new versus CPO purchase and depreciation. Only time that does not play out is how I bought my 2006 Escalade ESV Platinum. Cadillac went to their new generation of Escalade and wanted all the last generation sold. I liked the last generation better than the new, but was not ready to buy yet and as such stayed with my CTS I had at the time that the Wife drove. GM did an audit and found my dealership to be missing a Escalade. It was no where on the lot. At the end of 2005, December, the owner of the dealership found my Escalade in his private storage where he had a few other cars stuck there to due to space on the dealership lot. GM wanted this $100,000 fully loaded Escalade sold. I had just come in for service on the CTS and ran into my sales rep who had sold me my Demo 2yr old CTS and asked if I was interested in an Escalade if the price was right. We walked into the showroom where the District manager from GM was talking to the sales manager and owner of Doug's Cadillac and said GM was willing to discount it up to 50% off the MSRP price if they could sell it before the end of December so it was off the books. I stepped up and told him if I liked the Escalade, I would take it for 50% off. It was all I wanted, fully loaded Platinum edition in White Diamond. I got it, priced in half and went away with the Escalade rather than taking home my CTS. Now I had been saving to buy what I figured would be a CPO, but instead with getting such a price discount, bought this new with less than 20 miles on it and paid cash. Best auto purchase ever and I still own it. I think the rare exception is when the OEM does heavy discounts to move out the last year model auto's. That can make up for going the CPO route.

Tesla Dials Backs Production Hours on Model S and X
To be expected as they want to be a major auto player. Model line up will change and sales of their old S and X which need a major refresh will fall off. Why buy an S when the 3 is better than current S? ?

G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Very Valid comparison as a Smart buyer Should evaluate a new auto and price versus what they can get in the CPO market and decide if the new over CPO is worth it to them. Honestly hard to justify buying a new auto anymore.

I love the look and just adore the AT4 in Black Chrome. That is what they should have been offering for years. Regular Chrome is just too much. Awesome job GMC.
