Jaguar News: Jaguar Gets Out the Wagon Marketplace
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Jaguar
Totally understandable, I wonder just how long manual trans will be around before it is a history note in books. With the need for clean air and higher MPG, automatics are the way to go. Plus safer for all especially in hilly areas. I really think there is no valid reason to keep building manual transmissions. Calling it here, maybe 10 years left before Manual transmissions are gone. No need to have them with EVs and Petrol, Diesel and CNG all get better MPG with auto rather than manual transmissions. -
2016 (all new) Chevy Cruze LT 1.4t automatic
G. David Felt replied to regfootball's topic in Reader Reviews
Shame that they had that to say, but then I really think Manuals are the way of dodo birds and should go to the history books. -
No matter what when a person puts their money where their mouth is and gets the auto they want and supports the company they like, I can totally respect that.

Buick News: 2016 Buick Envision to Start In the Low $40,000s
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Based on comparing the two trims, I would have to have the Premium 2 Package. I have to have my cooled seats, something that is not available in the Premium 1 package. Even after looking at the 2017 trims that are also posted for the 3 lower trim levels, I would still only consider the Premium 2 package on this auto.- 40 replies

EXCITEMENT! Wish they would tell us what specifically is in Premium 1 trim versus Premium 2 trim. I am excited for this to hit the dealers lots. I expect it to do well for Buick. Update: Buick now has all the details on their web site. Buick Envision 2016 Trims- 40 replies

Jaguar News: Rumorpile: Jaguar Readying F-Pace and XE SVR
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Jaguar
So interesting question, unless these are very tiny V8 engines to meet the stupid Euro Spec of taxes on displacement, why not a normally aspirated V8? After all GM can get 500HP out of a V8 normally aspirated and that would relieve pressure on having to run Super in the Supercharged V8. Do not get me wrong the sound of a Supercharged V8 is a lovely thing. But in today's world of MPG Nazi's, supercharged just does not make much sense to me anymore when you have electrics delivering the same performance, Hybrids and of course Naturally aspirated DI engines. -
Chevrolet News:Spying: Chevrolet Bolt Comes Into Focus
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Gas2.org published the following story Chevy BOLT Not a Compliance Car Says GM Click the link above for the full story, but the end result according to Kevin Kelly, GM has the ability to build 50,000, 100,000 as many as the market demands. This is not to satisfy the Government due to the loans or california but truly move to what customers are asking for. GM has invested in their 3rd party supplies 250 million to insure supply for world wide demand plus the millions invested in the assembly line in the US to build the BOLT and export it all around the world.- 31 replies

Chevrolet News:Spying: Chevrolet Bolt Comes Into Focus
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
CNET had a Deep Dive session with Chevrolet about the BOLT powertrain. All of the pics are on GM Media but also in the story, A very good read with comparisons to Tesla and what Apple is doing. Interesting is that the story clearly states that the Spark is only sold in states that mandated an EV, aka a compliance auto. The BOLT will be available in all states. The BOLT only weighs 700 lbs more than the Spark at 3580lbs and is a Crossover compact compared to the Subcompact car that is the Spark. Road/Show by CNET 2017 DEEP DIVE - BOLT's Electric Powertrain In an accident, GM learned from the First Responders what they wanted for safety. No electrical issues as seen in other EVs. GM built in the fastest disconnect of the electrical system. GM's Leaders who presented the Deep Dive session.- 31 replies

More BOLT Updates GM Media GM has released more info and this continues to show how solid GM engineering is, on the range front, Chevy Spark has an 82 mile range, the batter in the BOLT is double the size and triple the capacity plus. The density of power per cell is 60 percent more according to GM Media. The Battery will come with an 8yr 100,000 mile warranty. Bolt battery is 164 inches long, 70 inches wide 60 kWH 288 Lithium ion cell 960lbs. More info found here Chevrolet Media For those that say this is no Tesla, the motor is a 200HP 266lb-ft of Torque electric. 100% from zero. This is how you hit below 3 seconds to 30 and below 7 seconds to 60. Final drive ratio 7.05:1. COOL Comparison Left to Right - VOLT Gen 1, VOLT Gen 2, Spark and BOLT Battery packs.- 31 replies

2016 (all new) Chevy Cruze LT 1.4t automatic
G. David Felt replied to regfootball's topic in Reader Reviews
Very cool, so awesome to hear that GM is building a worthy compact auto for the masses. -
Wonder if you do end up in this type of accident and those bars bend, crack, etc. how can an owner verify that they really did fix it back to OEM spec. I know there are some body shops I would never take my auto too because of the shortcuts they have done and that even includes insurance approved places.

Mini News: Rumopile: Sedan to Be the Fifth Member of the MINI Family
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
This would be a great idea if they actually deliver on it as Mini needs diversity to deal with an over bloated CUV lineup. Wish them the best, I wonder if it will be a rebadge of the BMW 1 series? Fastest way to market is put a new skin on the BMW 1 series and move forward. They could then use the rest of the lineup to become a full diverse auto company with a variety. -
Lincoln News: 2017 Lincoln Continental To Begin At $45,485
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
Suav, I agree that the pattern is nice looking, but wonder if it is real wood or just a quality fake? What auto is this from according to consumers report? -
WOW LOOKIT ALL THESE SEVERLY LIMITED SUPPLY CARS INCAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE AROUND AND CATERING TO A NICHE AUDIENCE THAT WILL BE LEFT IN THE LURCH WHEN THE AFOREMENTIONED CAR'S BRANDS ALL DIE IN SIX MONTHS. TESLA IS DOOMED YOU GUYS. CALLING IT RIGHT NOW. APRIL 17 2016 TESLA DOOMED, RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW. Doomed to die, doomed to be consumed by a larger company after MUSK is bankrupt, Doomed to what? Small niche player? Do not get me wrong, I also do not think Tesla can survive in the current state they are, but I do think they will survive in a different business model, what that is could be many things, but I will say I do not see Tesla being independent for long. Perfect example of why the Tesla 3 is questionable for 2017 with 400,000 models on reserve is that the Powerwall introduced to great fanfair in April 2015 is still in reserve mode and they are looking for distributors, installers, etc. Yes great at $3,000 per 6.4KwH pack, but then you also need the solar panels and space. I love the idea of the solar wall, but wonder about the viability of Tesla getting it to market. Course the Powerwall is also dependant on the GigaFactory, which I have no idea if it is actually up and running yet or not. So many unknowns, but one, Tesla has shown off some very innovative tech.

Fiat News: FCA's Sergio Marchionne Skeptical on Tesla Model 3
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
WOW, Talk about an Idiot. This from a guy who has stolen BILLIONS for the so called revival of Alfa, instrumental to the success of FCA long term rather than reinvest that money into the lines that already exist and bump up quality. If he really wanted to build an EV he would have done it already like GM rather than wait till everyone else has done it, and then follow along way too late and still loosing. This guy is not only NOT a car guy, but has NO business sense and the board really needs to kick his lazy ass out.- 2 replies

Lincoln News: 2017 Lincoln Continental To Begin At $45,485
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Lincoln
And yet today I saw an E350 that was cloth seats and plasticy and looks as cheap as the $2 dollar hooker on the corner. Unless you buy new or used the upper level maxed out, MB has some very cheap looking auto's and a lack of style. Jellybean from bottom to top. Right now the only thing that has it's own style to stand out it the ancient G Wagon and the 4x4 squared or what ever the weird name is supposed to mean is their only interesting auto they make. -
Totally agree with you about the Apple Car = Apple Pie. This is the most pathetic bland auto ever. Maybe it will appeal to apple fans if it is totally self driving and you can not drive it at all except sit there and give it the destination then play with your fruit phone. I see this as a big failure for Apple.

Mini News: Rumopile: Sedan to Be the Fifth Member of the MINI Family
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
Trimming back the overblown Mini CUV lineup and adding a Sedan is the only way BMW will grow this autoline. -
We'll I have to give MB as they built a version of the 40 year virgin that I actually like. A lifted SUV. Now in regards to the 4x4² (4x4 squared) I am not sure what it really means, but I do love the big ground clearance, big tires, etc. It should sell well here. Biggest issue is that this is a very old platform and as Drew showed at one of the auto shows last year the mix n match of screws and parts so that there is no quality in how these over priced SUVs are built. I remember looking at the G wagon on display at the Seattle auto show and showing the family and my parents the crazy price and mixed n match screws. One of the reps said it was a show model only and that the real G wagons are all perfect only to have his BS story blow up when another rep came by to show off the SUV to another attendee and said it came off their lot at the Seattle MB dealer ship, just having arrived.
