I think the white looks sharp but I wouldn't want all black.

For ground-up built EVs, that's a pretty big mistake, imo. I can't imagine they didn't have "much deep thinking yet" on a frunk. The Silverado EV has one so it isn't like GM just had blinders on and weren't looking at the rest of the industry. As somebody once said, "that is a total failure!"
-
It has a 3.9L V8 (had to look it up because I knew it had something unique). 241.9cu/3950cc. 252hp/267tq for 2002 and then up to 280hp/286tq in 03-05. I'd assume this is the same V8 that went in the Lincoln LS. I actually think these have aged quite well. I wasn't much of a fan back when they came out but I think that looks pretty decent now. It's been awhile since I've seen on.

For something that looks pretty dang good overall, I can’t understand why they didn’t engineer a frunk into it. That’s one of the biggest advantages of an EV and they excluded it.

Chevrolet News:Chevy Blazer EV Full Reveal set for July 18th

20 may be an exaggeration but it isn't by much. There are 5 pieces just for the lighting elements. I'm not saying it is ugly. I'm just saying it is over styled. They just tried to make more lines, curves, dips, grilles than necessary, IMO. Fake vents aren't all that bad, I understand why they do them. They does this have an upper, lower, and two side vents ALSO with a big black plastic piece in the middle AND the fake opening in the bottom lip? There's just so much going on that could easily have been smoothed out. The GLB EV is definitely the cleanest of the group you sent but it obviously has the FWD proportions still so it's overall not great. I don't think the Toyota would look *that* bad if they decided to paint those freakin fenders. I'm surprised you like this so much but also the Rivian as the R1T is nowhere near as busy as this. That Toyota is "okay" to me. It's a little busy as well but it isn't overly done, imo. It would look better without the little grille just under the hood and without the ones at the very bottom corners as well. -
Tesla isn't the only one with issues. https://www.motortrend.com/news/ford-mustang-mach-e-recall-electric-nhtsa-battery/ The cause of this issue stems from repeated use of DC fast charging and driving at wide-open throttle that causes the contactors to overheat. When that overheating occurs, it deforms the electrical surfaces that prevents them from making contact or can cause arcing that can weld those surfaces to each other. This recall will affect 48,924 Mach Es, including ones that have not been handed over to customers as of yet. The repair Ford has issued for this recall is a software update to the Secondary On-Board Diagnostic Control Module (SOBDCM) and Battery Energy Control Module (BECM). While these will be performed with an Over-The-Air (OTA) update, unfortunately it won't be ready to roll out until next month. Similarly to the 12 volt battery charging issue, owners can take their Mach E into their local Ford or Lincoln dealership to do the update using their Ford Integrated Diagnostic Software (IDS). We also asked if this recall could potentially affect the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning, but Ford wasn't able to respond to us if it has or hasn't in time for first publication. If they get back to us, we'll update this article accordingly.

Every current Toyota is a cleaner design than this. They may not be pretty but they're certainly cleaner and simpler than this. What I mean by over styled is they're adding things to just add things. It looks like there are 20 or so different body pieces going on in this picture. Big fake vents under the headlight with lines running through them, the bottom piece that has a bump up in it, there are just too many different lines going in too many different directions and it's just for the sake of styling. Oh and add in the lobster claw behind the rear wheel... I mean, what the heck is going on here? -

You're 100% right here. I even know a designer over at GM, he works in GMC(only been there a couple years), who says this is way over styled. Fun fact, this has been around since before he started in 2019. -

Why did that panel that removes for charging look gigantic? -
Thank you for that information. I'm just saying that neither are perfect and I don't believe Musk heading other companies is the reason Teslas don't have consistent door panel gaps or bricking themselves.

Sounds like they're stepping in territory they've never been in. Good luck. I'd love to see them succeed up there. -
..Musk isn't doing that either.. With their respective quality issues, does she really have the right people in the right roles?

It's a pretty sharp looking vehicle but I am REALLY not a fan of the lobster claw behind the front wheel. While over styled quite a bit, most of it looks pretty good. Why would something Cadillac be labeled as "ultra luxury"? Is it intending to compete with the Rolls and Bentlys of the world? -
Those are very good points, and I would have also expected them to have their pretty separate divisions. So Elon being involved is the issue. Who would have thought people would be upset the CEO is actually a hands-on kind of person and wants to be involved with all of his ventures?
-
They're not a startup anymore though. They've been producing cars for 14 years and have successfully sold all of the things you just listed. So Tesla is "distracted" by other ventures but GM isn't distracted by their other ventures. Sounds a little hypocritic to me. Solar and Powerwall are the only things you listed that are actually Tesla. Space-X is its own company and, while it's private, is estimated to be quite profitable. GM couldn't possibly be distracated with their multiple companies they control, OnStar, AC Delco, GM Financial, Periscope, Ultium...
-
My assumption, they may go away with the current dealer model but it would be silly to not have vehicles to test drive still. I think that would give them a pretty big advantage to still keep one of each vehicle in stock and maybe a top trim and bottom trim to compare.
-
That's exactly my point. That stuff is not a distraction whatsoever to him and the company. That's almost 100% certainly a division within the company specifically designated for this stuff. Sorry, it's tough to type sarcastically...lol
-
You're going to list things like merchandise, clothing, model cars and pretend GM isn't into those same things(and every other manufacturer because that's just smart business)? What do you call NASCAR/IMSA/IndyCar sponsorships? It certainly isn't like they're using any of that stuff in street cars so would these just be "distractions"? Yeah, I 100% agree with you that Elon's distracted because his company is making hats. If they stopped making hats, shirts, and hoodies, I'm sure they would have higher quality vehicles. Could you imagine how much money GM could invest in QC if they stopped sponsoring NASCAR and IndyCar teams?!?! Hell, if they would just stop with their garbage-@ss commercials they'd be doing better! Tesla doesn't pay for advertising. GM must be distracted by producing garbage commercials.
-
But, as I've mentioned, both CEOs have problems. People don't like Elon for the same reason they didn't like Trump, they said really stupid things and put themselves in the limelight when they had no reason to (I'm independent - Don't fully support Red or Blue). Elon isn't running his company into the ground. He just says stupid things and gives people like David and Olds fuel to say "This is why they have quality issues. He's spending too much time on the internet!" When GM's CEO doesn't spend the time on social media but their company has cars burning houses down. She doesn't say stupid things though, so that's forgivable.
-
So because somebody has time to type out some tweets, this means they cannot focus on their autos also? You're just assuming they're not working on fixing their quality control issues and that there aren't teams of engineers also working on these issues, just like GM has teams of engineers working on fixing their issues. Do you think Barra doesn't have a personal life that she puts her own energy towards outside of work? If we see a picture of her vacationing should we criticize her for not concentrating on fixing Bolt issues? I should point out that GM isn't the only other manufacturer with QC issues. Ford with the Bronco and 2.7T are another current one. I'm just using GM as an example.
-
How or why, when they both have major issues? Her being quite on social media hasn't shown to make better products. I can also throw out an anecdotal evidence that the Hummer isn't in good shape either. A buddy of mine who is a salesman at a GM store had a Hummer EV return in less than a week with issues. Should we blame Barra for this? Should we assume all Hummer EVs are problematic?
-
And her company clearly has its own issues so to say Elon's company has all of these problems and it's because he's worried about all sorts of other things that are not automobile-related, doesn't equate. Both companies have quality issues, he just has a loud mouth. EXACTLY! People love their Teslas even though Elon has a loud mouth and talks too much. Oh they still do.. just like Ferd, BMW, Benz etc. Every company has its rabid fanboys. Her company has(had) Bolts catching fire is garages burning homes to the ground but this is "okay". Elon makes annoying tweets and this is why his company has quality issues? Two major quality issues. Why is one being held to a different standard than the other? Is it just because he has a loud mouth and he's easy to dislike? I don't have a Twitter account nor do I give to fcks about celebrities in a defamation suit.
-
And yet, without Barra doing any of the stuff Elon does. Hundreds of thousands or millions don't care as they love their vehicles.
-
My point is, just because he has a loud Twitter account and Mary Barra doesn't, doesn't make her vehicles any less problematic.
