Chevrolet News:Spying: Looking Inside the Chevrolet Bolt
El Kabong replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Given the current state of the art for batteries and range, I'd say scaling up to that size right now wouldn't be cost or range-effective. Frankly, I'm impressed at some of the numbers that are being tossed around for something this size. -
Actually, I believe it was number four.

Mostly braking, exhaust, and suspension stuff at this point. Still no word on a dealer-installed upgrade package for the 2.0 Turbo, but they used to offer them so there's still hope. Link here: http://m.motortrend.com/wot/gm_reveals_2016_chevrolet_camaro_performance_parts.html

Fiat News: Spying: Fiat 124 Spider W/O Camouflage
El Kabong replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
I dunno, but looks-wise I was expecting a lot more. Maybe it's just the camera angles? But they may still make a strong case for the car if they put in the hotter engines.- 8 replies

Max torque at zero rpm always makes for a giggle or two.

From the regulator's point of view it matters little who did it. Somebody did it-ergo, the company gets hammered. Corporations are not nation-states, they don't need to find the smoking gun. No doubt blame will be assigned, and the big names shown the door already will wear much of that blame. Any sane risk analysis from the get-go would have told anyone in charge at VW that it was a harebrained scheme. They forged ahead anyway.
-
But Bosch was doing their due diligence by warning VW about using that test mode in normal use. Bosch can provide proof that the software was originally intended for testing purposes only, and they made that quite clear to VW. You could make the argument that Bosch may have done the math on how VW was pulling off what they were doing. But then you're running the risk of ratting out a customer without knowing if they really have solved the mystery of how to do something nobody else can.

Chrysler News: UAW Issues A Strike Notice to FCA
El Kabong replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
The UAW's primary concern should be the elimination of two-tier wages. Even more so than the product shuffling, this one gets to the core of the union's raison d'être.- 5 replies

Chrysler News: UAW Issues A Strike Notice to FCA
El Kabong replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
Basically they said that they will no longer be bound by the terms of the extension. In theory, they are legally entitled to walk off the line at any time after the deadline. While I doubt that will happen immediately and/or en masse, they could.- 5 replies

Funny story: I approached certain admins via PM some time ago regarding how I should approach trolls in here. I was told that they were perfectly fine with me picking holes wherever I saw fit in troll posts, as long as I avoided personal attacks. And that's where I knew there would be problems, because I know through experience that trolls are unable to counter rational posting with rational thought. In other words, they only know how to break the rules to suit their own agenda, and they don't care about the consequences. Bottom line: stupid behaviour, if tolerated or protected, will inevitably ruin whatever it sees fit to infest.

The proof is that they DID IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. Nobody conducts a criminal enterprise with the intent of getting caught. Even if they do, what do they hope to accomplish-did VW think that getting caught would highlight the supposed injustice of emissions laws, even though everyone else appears to be doing well by following them?

C/D Gets Healthy Z06 Droptop. MT Is Gonna Be REALLY Mad.
El Kabong replied to El Kabong's topic in Industry News
It's been nearly a year since the dry-sump LT4 dropped and I'm still not sure what to make of it. The wet-sump versions seem to do fine, but they're a bit less powerful and live in much roomier engine compartments. Callaway seems to think that a larger-volume supercharger, packaged less densely into the engine, works better. My guess is that GM just pushed right up to the limits of packaging and heat management and the result is a bit more highly-strung than we're used to seeing from modern smallblocks. FWIW, I think Callaway is probably correct, but a stock LT4 in factory-fresh condition will not lose enough power to heat soak to be an issue most of the time. -
Guy... just stop. Volkswagen thought that they could swindle pollution control agencies and save billions of dollars. Of course they thought they could get away with it.

Shameful that the troll is allowed to ruin his fourth forum.

...because the numbers are simply insane. The only downside, according to C/D, is that the top looks a bit silly with the body kit. Ah, the burdens we must bear. Here's the link: http://m.caranddriver.com/reviews/2015-chevrolet-corvette-z06-convertible-manual-test-review

Your contributions to any forum you inhabit are more than offset by your terrible behaviour. This is not news, anywhere you go. Self-pity won't change that, because nobody's buying it.

The complaint is not about the vote system. The complaint is that regardless of how its tweaked/modified you still have two guys who clearly lag behind everyone else in reputation because they are trolls. Disabling/tweaking the system won't change that. Banning them will.
-
Guy. You just have to roll with it. We all know that the rep scores go up and down, but when there are only two guys firmly anchored in the red then you know that everyone's in on the joke. Just laugh at them. That's what everyone else is doing, right?

It would make a really nice Nissan. I mean, it's got good power, the hatch is convenient, all that good stuff. But it's just a bit thrashy and noisy, and some of the switchgear was a bit chintzy. Maybe the new one is better, but I'm not sold on it by any means.

Dunno if I mentioned it here or elsewhere, but after having had one as a rental for a week or so I fail to see the appeal of the Infiniti QX50.
