Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
It seems Mach-E closer to Escape in size than Edge. However, probably interior space is closer to the Edge. I am thinking in 4-5 years if I can pick up used Mach-E for a reasonable price it will make a great commuter car.

And as I said before I would take Mach-E over Escape without second thought, just not with the current price difference.

Tesla Model S was revealed in 2012, 9 years ago. Today it is still on sale without any major changes. Tesla Model 3, Y and Ford Mach E use same technology as Tesla did almost 10 years ago. So far I don't see break neck pace of advancement.

Ford Mach-E is about the size of the Escape. No doubt in my mind I would rather have Mach-E, even in the base trim, but not when it is 20k more expensive. Even comparing fully loaded Escape Titanium AWD vs Mach-E base with AWD the price difference is about $10k ($46k vs $36k)

I like EVs and as I said previously in 4-5 years might consider getting one as a commuter. However, I don't see our family having EVs only for a while now. What bugs me that states like California and now Massachusetts (and I am sure few more will follow) are trying to force complete ban on sale of ICE cars by 2035. 14 years is not that much time to build proper infrastructure and have sufficient selection of EVs at affordable prices. Tesla Model S came out almost 10 years ago. Besides getting a little bit more efficient the technology didn't really changed that much in the last 10 years. I know there is bunch of reports on new much better battery technology but we haven't seen it in the production cars yet. At least NJ came out with a little bit more reasonable goal of reducing emissions by 80% by 2050.

I think this pictures shows very clearly state of EVs vs ICE at this point of time. Hopefully will change in the near future.

Happy New Year
Holy crap. The only good thing is that you were able to prevent something much worse. Get well soon!

It is loud, I feel even too loud, especially inside. I kind of sorry mine doesn't have active exhaust option. The Shelby I drove had it and it really works well.

We had pretty strong storm overnight, no power for the last 12 hours. Luckily just recently got generator and installed interlock switch for it.

@oldshurst442 I haven't said ONE thing about Honda, the discussion was about Toyota. Toyota has been consistently on top, you can argue as much as you want but it is a fact. 2017 - Toyota/Lexus still on top , GM/Ford much lower 2015 - Toyota/Lexus still on top GM/ Ford lower 2014

Most of their models are just "blah". Nevertheless their overall reliability is way above average (and has been for years now) and much better than American brands.

@surreal1272 Don't bother, @balthazar as much anti-Toyota as @ocnblu against EVs

As I said before, my parents house water tank lasted 9 years and than leaked and destroyed the floor. I haven't heard about tankless leaking. They do require yearly maintenance and they are way more efficient than regular ones. Seems the early models weren't very reliable but i heard they got better now. Mine is two years old and i have friends with 3-5 year old tanks. If they break they simply stop heating, not leak. Regular water tanks do keep working without power but i have generator now in case i loose power so I am not worried.

Akio Toyoda says converting entirely to EVs could cost hundreds of billions of dollars and make cars unaffordable for average people. Toyota President Akio Toyoda said he feared government regulations would make cars a ‘flower on a high summit’—out of reach for the average person.

I think they say around 12-14 years, but mine started leaking earlier and at my parents house it leaked after 9 years and destroyed laminate floor. If the water heater somewhere where it can do damage if it leaks I would strongly suggest replacing it pre-emptively. Personally, I put tankless water heater in my house.

How do you like it so far, is it powerful enough? I was considering getting it but they were forecasting warmer than usual winter here ( so far doesn't look that way) and the last two winters we basically didn't see any snow here in NJ so I was reluctant to spend money on it.

While I still not crazy that they called Mach E a Mustang, it grows on me and it looks like it has good potential. Definitely looks more attractive than Model Y by far. I actually see me getting one as a daily in about 5 years.
