  1. I'm glad people here are taking a more rational approach at discussing the interior instead of calling it a flat-out VUE clone like over at GMI. I can see some VUE simliarities but overall it's very slick and very worthy of the Cadillac badge. Sure, it may not be RWD based, but the SRX is and I'm sure that's one of the major reasons why people picked the Lexus RX330 and other FWD luxury crossover SUVs over it. Like it or not, people in colder climates are still afraid of RWD vehicles.
  2. Yeah, if you pick on the imports, you'll be branded an inbred, gun-toting, homophobic, anti-semetic racist redneck who hates the environment and supports the war in Iraq because you want to bring the word Jesus to those "A-rabs". Oh.. and apparently, you like shooting mexicans crossing over the border because "derrr takin' our jorbs!" It's probably not a good time to do that now. Wait until people start getting hurt and then you'll have more of a chance.... unfortunately.
  3. Another styling dud from Toyota. All GM bias aside, the designs from this company need to step up a notch if they want to stay competitive. Especially now that a lot of people are catching on to the fact that Toyotas aren't as well built as they used to be. Now, this isn't ugly. But it doesn't stand out in a segment that is getting increasingly competive. You know you have a big fight up ahead when all major automakers including the Americans are devoting billions of dollars to new compact platforms and the vehicles that ride on them. If someone put the photo of the new Corolla before today and called it a "modified camry", I would've believed them until I took a closer look. Most non-enthusiasts would have an even harder time telling the difference without a size comparison to the actual camry. The interior looks better then the one in the current Corolla but still looks outdated compared to interiors from Honda and Mazda. Honda execs are giving a sigh of relief and I hope that GM will take advantage of this and put that 4 Billion dollars they're spending on the new Delta platform to good use.. especially on the Cobalt.
  4. Oh.. that's unfortunate. Looks outdated. You'd think that after seeing the attractive Vibe, Toyota would keep the styling very similar with the obvious Toyota design themes.. I guess not.
  5. This is not a new issue and it won't go away any time soon. I've had many professors in college and teachers from all the way back in middle school who have their own agenda. You know that old saying: "Those who cannot do, teach". Well, this is the result. Just last semester, I had a professor who was so blatent in his anti-US ideology, it had become a joke in the class. The course was a US-Latin America relations course which covered the time from the mid 1800s to the 1980s. They should've just renamed the course: "Why America is the cause for all problems in Latin America, and why you should be ashamed of yourselves" He goes on about America being too involved and how the socialist countries were unfairly demonized by the US because they didn't want them to be prosperous. In his eyes, Castro and Chavez are decent guys just trying make sure everyone in their country is happy. BULL S**T. I was so close to just walking out of that class but I needed it for a grade and just shut my mouth. He's not the worst by any means. He is relatively tame compared to the professors calling World Trade Center victims "little Eichmmans" (a notorious Nazi who helped develop the concentration camps) and others just lying to their students in order to get more people to support their outrageous views. We can't prevent these people from entering the collegate system. The best we can do is offer students the chance to get as many viewpoints as possible to get a balanced view of the information given out. Like listening to Air America on a major news story and then switching over to Fox News or Rush Limbaugh to get the other side of that story and balance it out.

    TiVo

I got a Pioneer DVD player/burner with built-in Tivo about two to three years ago. It was amazing. However, shortly after, our television started to get f-ed up and we had to purchase a new one. Went with HDTV and the series 2 Tivo can't record in HD so we had to get a DVR from Time Warner Cable and it SUCKS sooo bad. Awful interface, crappy remote, not as many options and the specific box we have tends to break up larger programs into sections without warning. Wanted to get the series three tivo with HD but it's $800 dollars and that's not worth that much in my opinion. Can't wait to get the cheaper HD Tivo.
  7. Where have I seen those air vents and the nav screen before? hmmmm... Edit: Can't post copyrighted pics - Fly I'm really starting to wonder..... Looks good. Very good stance. I can't wait to see it.
  8. It's being confirmed by CNN. CNN BREAKING NEWS This is bad news for UAW employees. Say goodbye to your jobs because GM won't hesitate to look at Asia. Sure, it won't happen right away and the strike issue will be resolved, but you're going to see some big plant closures over the next decade.
  9. Great catch. They didn't even bother taking some of the desert plants out of the photo either. On the topic of the changes, I'm sure they've improved the plastics of the interior as best they could with such little money since it was the biggest gripe with journalists and customers alike. However, to the non-enthusiast eye, the changes to the interior would most likely be missed. This probably won't do anything for declining sales since it's the exterior styling that most people are tired of. I won't harp on Chrysler though. They've gone through some hard times in recent years.. thanks to the Daimler big-wigs that had no idea on how to handle the North American unit. I have a good feeling though that under the new leadership, we'll start to see some very positive changes coming out of Chrysler along the lines of GM's recent efforts but I think we won't see anything like that happen until the end of the decade and beyond. I used to think that Ford was in better shape then Chrysler but now I'm thinking Chrysler is perhaps much closer to reaching it's goals. At least Chrysler has three distinct brands with their own purpose and a whole team of automotive experts. Can't really say the same for Ford right now and with the company looking to desperately sell off it's Euro brands in order to make some quick cash, the last thing they are worrying about is what demographic each brand should be aimed toward.
  10. Um.. it's a mule, dude. Read the first post again. You don't think the topic should've been posted, eh? That's a lot coming from a person who has only posted three times on this website. Haven't you considered that other people want to see stuff like this? Probably not. You'll learn in time though.
  11. I agree on both statements on the Accord and the Altima coupe, but I find the G6 to be much more attractive then the Nissan. In fact, it uses some definate 350z styling cues in the rear that give it a very sporty look. I'm surprise Nissan didn't go in a similar direction.
  12. We already knew this was all coming but it's still very exciting to hear it confirmed by the powers that be. Saturn of Clarence, New York, the closest one to me, and one of the top selling Saturn dealerships in the nation is already starting it's improvements. Nothing to the dealership itself...yet, but they are expanding the car lot undoubtedly to allow all the new models to be showcased. Very exciting to see so much growth from an American brand let alone a GM brand.
  13. Have you driven both the Honda and the new Chrysler vans? If not, how can you make that claim that the Odyssey is better then the new Town & Country and Caravan? Basing your knowlege on the current Odyssey and the last generation Chrysler vans is a fair statement when talking about the old vans. When assuming that the old vans and new ones offer the same results against the Odyssey ( a van that hasn't seen a significant update in a couple years) is uneducated and, more importantly, unfair. We'll see what the results are when the different media comparisons come out. Also, even if you did test both vans and think the Odyssey is better, remember, that's just a subjective viewpoint. Other people buy the Chrysler/Dodge vans over the foreign vans because they suit their needs more and therefore are more comfortable to them.
  14. Hate to: But Buick is absolutely doing better with few models. Instead of wasting money on 7 bad models, Buick is in a much better position selling three really good models. Granted, they are not there yet, but the only brand under GM that can and should only support a full line of cars and trucks is Chevrolet. With fewer models, you have a less of a chance of GM hemorrhaging money trying to make sure all the other cars sell well. Too many models is what got GM in trouble in the first place. I don't understand how people still don't see that.
  15. I think that's where the internal combustion engine comes into play. One would guess that since the conventional engine turns on when the batteries run out of juice when driving, I think it would be safe to assume that it would turn on automatically at ignition if there was no power in the battery pack.
  16. An obvious smear article aimed at GM. Something becoming quite common from the NYTimes lately (Tom Friedman ring any bells?) First the journalists complain that GM neglected it's Saturn division and that they didn't get it and now that they're trying to do something about it, the brand is no longer Saturn-y enough for this d-bag. You just know that those people wrote comments about how they're leaving Saturn and going to Toyota are not Saturn people at all... but the same people who troll Autoblog, Caranddriver, and autoweek looking for ways to jump on the GM bashwagon. I'd hate to sound like a blind follower here, but GM is truly alone when the press, and the government (both democrats and republicans) won't give them a fair shake. They won't stop until the company is dead and buried. I say, screw 'em all.
  17. Wow. This blows me away. Way to go Mazda. You really hit it out of the park this time. Honda and Toyota dealers can care less, but I bet that Nissan dealers are getting very nervous. Altimas will be stacking up on lots.
  18. Despite it's existence for a few decades, HUD is still a relatively unknown/unwanted product. Perhaps that's why you only see it in some BMWs and high-end Cadillacs. I'm sure GM did a study to see what customers purchased the HUD option and on what vehicles. I'll bet you that only Luxury car buyers were the most serious buyers of the technology and no Pontiac or Buick drivers. They were spending too much on including a technology few people wanted. Look at the nightvision from Cadillac or the retractable roof on the Envoy. Both were innovative, yet, unpopular. However, you can say that all three blunders were a direct result of GM's poor marketing. Anyway, you can't blame GM for not offering HUD on a Lucerne or a G8 when no one wants it. Think about it this way, if everyone wanted one, Toyota would've slapped it on a number of Lexus models or the Avalon years ago.
  19. Holy S&$* that's hot. I can't believe I'm saying that about a Buick. Come to think about it, I can't believe I'm saying that about a GM vehicle interior that isn't the new CTS. If this goes to market as is (which wouldn't have been possible 4 years go), Lexus will have to watch out.
  20. Completely expected. So wait, now that Toyota is becoming an "all-American" company, does that mean Consumer Reports and Motor Trend will start reviewing their cars badly too?
  21. Thanks for putting your trust in my observations guys. I didn't actually think you'd change them to match my guesses.
  22. One of the better looking vehicles to come out of Honda NA in the past few years.
  23. Wow! Holy Crap. I can't believe how much effort GM is really putting into the interior design. We all heard that things were going to change, but not this drastically. I'm going to refer to the photos in the first post and not post them because they're far to huge. Photo #1) Cadillac key fob: My opinion of the one on the left: Excellent design. High-Tech but realistic for GM. Cadillac should have something like this before BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and Audi offer these on their new cars ( and you know that they're all probably already well into development with digital key-fobs like this) Photo #2) Full Size Truck and SUV center stack: Sure, it says Full Size, but if you look closely at the overall shape of it, you can see it's clearly a Lambda-based interior design. As seen here in the first photo, the center stack for the Tahoe/Yukon is one solid shape from the top of the dash to the lower dash. In this photo, you can see the similarities of the way the dash is shaped between this andthe design study. Could GM be changing the overall interior design of the Full-sizers to match that of the Lambda interiors? Possibly. But I think we're looking at something we might see coming to the future from the Outlook or the Acadia. A little drab looking and looks too similar to the interior of the new Focus and Escape and that prevents me from liking it as much. Photo #3) The GM Proposed Center stack: This is obviously a design study for the Malibu MCE(mid-cycle enhancement) or the Aura MCE, before the Vectra replacement comes to the US. Reason: The shape of the dash is exactly the same. My Opinion: Fixes the cheap look that the current radio/hvac design gives the Aura and new Malibu a good overall look. Photo #4) Center stack: Has strong design ties to the new CTS interior from the shape of the air vents to the design of the radio / hvac. There is a strong possibility we'll see this in the BRX and not the BLS as suggested. My reasoning behind this: It's overall appearance is a little more rugged then what you'd see in a sedan and it's positioned a bit higher then the CTS hinting that this belongs in a vehicle where the driver is sitting a little bit higher then in a sedan. I like it a lot. Photo #5) Gauge cluster : I have no clue about where this might go. Could end up in Buick, could end up in Chevrolets. I'm leaning a little more to the latter since it comes off as a little retro-ish in execution. Photo #6) Gauge cluster 2 : Pontiac anyone? Certainly looks like it could fit in the "excitement" division and the color scheme is similar. Photo #7) Cadillac gauge cluster: This has Cadillac ULS written all over it. GM better use it since digital speedometers are quickly becoming the new fad in luxury boats.. <sarcasm>Thanks Mercedes 7-class.</sarcasm> All-in-all, a good show from GM. Hopefully, these are much more then concepts.
  24. I agree. It's the best looking of the new Chrysler/Dodge vehicles, however... It might be a little too safe in an increasingly competitive segment and I fear that this will get lost in the shuffle when Honda, Hyundai, Toyota, and Nissan come out with similar vehicle. Interior is.. interesting. Better then in the spyshots but still very awkward and far too many buttons.
