  1. Yeah.. you don't need Onstar to have people spying on you when you already have a black box. There was a case from a couple of years ago where a guy accidently killed two teenage girls as they were pulling out of their driveway with his car. He was charged with manslaughter ( I think) and sent to jail for the rest of his life(I believe) even though it may have been an accident since his black box recorded him doing well over 100 mph at the time of impact. Though, I think that even without the black box, it would've been really easy to tell that he hit that car at extremely high speeds judging on the amount of damage created.
  2. Even with the Camo on, I can tell that the Lacrosse is going to look very awkward.
  3. Hello, you beautiful Insignia you! Oh wait.. it's just a concept. :AH-HA_wink: This is very promising for the future of Opel design. It makes the new Mondeo look outdated. Now, whether or not the production version of this car actually happens, as is, remains to be seen, but I doubt Opel will debut a new and very production ready vehicle and not build it. That's GMNA's job. Can't wait for this to hit our shores.
  4. Welcome ffffffffffffff to C&G and thanks for the great photos! The G8 really a great looking car and from this angle, it looks pretty hot. It also looks like it was getting as much attention as that red Solstice in the background. That sounds very promising.
  5. I'm not sure what he means by next-gen Cadillacs. Hopefully that means next-gen LARGE cadillacs and not future Cadillacs in general. Sigma is still an important platform for the brand not only because it's proven to be worthy of a luxury brand but because it's what truly keeps Cadillac separate from the other GM brands. I have doubts that GM would phase it out in favor of a platform that will be the basis for Chevrolets, Pontiacs, Buicks, Daewoos and eventually Opel/Saturn sedans. They might lose some much needed credibility if they do just that. If anything, they should be working feverishly on a next gen Sigma platform. Modifying it for the new CTS was a good start but it's only a small step considering that it offered AWD from the very beginning. Maybe it's time to shorten it a bit or at least allow it to be much more flexible then it already is. The C7 vette sounds very exciting. I am assuming that the 700 hpr figure will be limited to the next-generation Corvette SS since the current one will only be around 600. Assuming that my prediction will be true, the next Z06 will probably have horsepower ratings in the 600s while the next gen base vette will be in the low to mid 500 range. It seems like a possibility considering that the last gen Z06 had the same amount of horsepower as the current base model.
  6. I'm not surprised about the Northeast being high on the list. New York State as the SUNY (state university of New York) system and not only is it good but cheaper then a lot of the private colleges. On top of that, there is almost an over-abundance of schools that suit the needs of a variety of majors.
  7. I'm sure the guy was questioning whether or not it was truly worth it to leak these photos out. Shame on him and shame on Emo Trans for not preventing this from happening. Having said that, at least we get to see it. Woo Hoo! I'm excited. Performance shouldn't be an issue seeing how good the Z06 is already without a supercharger. What I can't wait to see is the design. I'm sure GM will never let that happen... ever!
  8. It's sad that Daimler executives couldn't stick it out any longer and try to save the Chrysler arm of the company considering that Benz has been doing so well these past few years and allowing the company as a whole to turn a decent profit. I guess if they, a german based company, can't fix the problems of the American branch, it sort of proves that GM and Ford's difficulty to turn things around quicker financially has really little to do with incompetence of the Detroit executives but more to do with the overall environment of the US automotive industry and all things related to that field. Very little help from federal and state governments in terms of taking over some pension and healthcare costs, constant and sometimes unfair criticism by the American automotive press, and the continuous assistance to foreign companies to build their factories here aren't helping the matter. Getting back to the topic at hand, GM should have nothing to do with this. Who wants to take on that much responsibility when they're still trying to fix their own failed business model.
  9. From Autowerld.com Translated (poorly) through altavista bablefish. If anyone on the site can speak dutch, feel free to do your own translating. My translation is below each paragraph. Opel concept in Genève Saturday 17 February 2007 In Genève Opel still unknown concept car will present. Teaser have been meanwhile spread by Opel, but what kind of type model it goes continues guess only. We suspect that it concerns here a voorbode of the new Vectra or new Omega. My translation: In Geneva, Opel will unveil a new, unidentified concept car. Meanwhile, Opel has sent out this teaser photo, but one can only guess one what it is. We suspect that it is the replacement for the new Vectra or new Omega. ------ On the photograph only one couple is see lines of the conceptcar. Some that from that finished can are be led that it concerns sedanachtige a car. Our presumption goes thus strongly from to conceptcar which a voorbode will be for a continuator for the Vectra or the Omega. Especially the Vectra seem very realistic. In the photograph, only the outline of the concept car is visible. ????? 2nd sentence ?????. We guess that this concept car will be very close to the next generation Vectra or the Omega. Though, the Vectra seems like a much more realistic guess. ------ The model came in 2002, on the market and became in 2005 gefacelift. To assume we an average life cycle six years, then it is very well conceivable that there in 2008, new Vectra are in preparation. Moreover Opel have earlier already indicated that the Vectra will be replaced by a completely new model, under a new name. Probably the name Insignia will be used for that. Anyhow, in Genève we will know more. The current model came on the market in 2002 and recieved a facelift in 2005. Assuming the average life cycle for the car is six years, it is very conceivable that there is a 2008 Vectra in development. Additionally, Opel has already indicated that the Vectra will be replaced by a completely new model, under a new name. Insignia is most likely the name to be used. In Geneva, we will know more. link to article
  10. Looks like the haters are already trying to downplay the vehicle even before it's produced. Typical.
  11. No no no no no!!! This has disaster written all over it. This idea is even worse then the Nissan/Renault merger with GM. I'm really getting angry if this is truely going down.
  12. Now, let's be fair. GMinsidenews has a really good color scheme. Red, white, and blue is very patriotic...and that's about it. :AH-HA_wink: Nah, I still go there from time to time. Not as much as this since the site it way too big and there are a high amount of whiney members. I guess that's what happens when you get that big. C&G has its fair share but not as bad. Welcome anyway!
  13. I'm really looking forward to this from GM. Only good can come from this. It's great that the company is really taking risks.
  14. Would work but not until GM comes out with the next Gen Delta platform. It has a lot to do with incompatability with other GM's global factories. Remember, this vehicle was produced on the Delta platform which is for North America only for the moment. Exporting it could prove to be costly.
  15. Just go over to GMI. He's still flapping his gums about GM on the verge of collapse without his wonderful expertise. It's not really funny anymore. Just sad.
  16. Are we sure this isn't photoshopped? It seems as though the logo on the steering wheel has a smudge on the top right side and center console was left alone while the upper dash and the rest of gauges were horizontally flipped and then corrected. Things that made me suspicious: (I've circled and numbered the areas that I noticed) 1) The numbered buttons on the radio are in reverse order from 6 - 1. Either the artist forgot to add that if this is a fake or Blaupunkt, the supplier of that radio didn't bother switching it over for LHD usage. 2) The CD slot with the eject and load buttons is in reverse from the one we saw in the concept. 3) Not only does the logo look photoshopped on the steering wheel, GM stated that this is not the new logo for the brand but more of a design study. Finally 4) The area where the center console meets the rest of the dash looks smudged. Compare to the other photos in the thread if you need to see for yourself.
  17. I highly doubt that the Vette or the XLR will be receiving any interior upgrades with a redesign so close. Besides, they're selling every vette they could posibly sell and the XLR, though not selling as much is still a halo vehicle for the brand which gives it some street cred in the ultra luxury convertable market especially with the $100,000 V-series. They're fine for now.
  18. The brother-in-law of an uncle of a friend of my second cousin once-removed said that he knew a guy who knows someone who works at Nissan who said there's a definate 48% chance that Nissan is looking into adding more models for Infiniti that currently aren't models. Stop the presses! Sorry dude. We had to make fun of that post. Without any proof, how can we really believe it? The idea of a CL sounds cool but really, we need more then the word of someone you know.
  19. Highlander is just shamefully bad. The current one, though bland as could be, was inoffensive and that was good for Toyota. This one, on the other hand, is just out of proportion. Too many different design themes going on here. Subaru Forester grill, Rav4 headlights, bulbous ass with a tailgate that was borrowed by the 4Runner. It's just awkward in every possible way with the exception of the interior. That will be the main selling point of the vehicle but unfortunately, with so many high quality competitors on the market that also just happen to be attractive, Toyota will relying a lot on loyal returning customers and import fanatics who avoid other Japanese and German makes. Highlander will sell well regardless and it will be the new vehicle "detroit really needs to worry about" in the auto mags for months to come. Xd is not even worth a mention since it's just as awkward. Xb is nothing new considering that the revision has been out in Japan for a little while now.
  20. Looks great. I love it. I wish I had the money and lived in a warmer climate. With that, I would be able to drive this baby year round. Love the new logo too. Brings the brand into the 21st century while maintaining its heritage.
  21. That doesn't mean that the Cobalt won't have a similar appearance. Although it's from a couple of years ago, this grill is in line with the new style Chevy vehicles are going to have. GM is looking to give all Chevy vehicles a family resemblance and giving the Cobalt this grill, will bring it in line with the new look seen on the Malibu and the Chevy Trucks.
  22. You need to base your opinion on actual experience. Go out there and test drive these vehicles and compare them yourself. Unfortunately, in an age where the media is struggling to maintain it's objectivity, we have the automobile magazines crapping all over those efforts with one sided articles and import-friendly opinions. No, I'm not saying that Toyota and Nissan's trucks aren't competitive or class-leading. They certainly did their homework and are producing some solid trucks but the hype that magazines like Motortrend, Automobile, and Popular Mechanics are giving the Japanese automakers is blatently biased that you wonder if GM or Ford will ever get a fair shake again. It's sad that objective journalism has gone down the crapper thanks to major media conglomerates that only worry about ad revenues.
  23. Not only are we getting the coldest weather of the season (so far) here, yesterday, we had some serious lake effect snow go through the area. I was driving home from work in white out conditions. Seriously, I could barely see the car in front of me. I still don't know how I got home. Now the heavy snow is in the southern suburbs of Buffalo (I'm in the northern suburbs) and southern WNY counties and they're getting two feet of snow, added on to the two feet of snow they got earlier in the week. If any of you are familiar with Lake Effect snow, it could be coming down 2-3 inches an hour in one section and 5 miles away we could have clear, sunny skies. That's what it was like yesterday.
  24. While I respect your decision to leave, did it really require you posting this whole drawn-out thread for everyone to see? Just tell everyone you're leaving for personal reasons and not make a huge deal over it. It's disrespectful to your former peers and people on the site.
  25. Um.... did I miss something? How is the design any different then the Antara. I think we already went over this. The only thing different exterior-wise is the body-colored bumper (which from what I've seen is not for the whole line-up of VUEs) and the tail lights. Don't bother counting the saturn logo since that really has nothing to do with overall design.
