  1. Let's not get into a BMW vs. Cadillac pissing match. For all the options you get in this vehicle and the size, I'd say the pricing is competitive. The CTS is no longer the entry-level Cadillac anymore. It may appear that it is due to the fact that the alpha-based BLS replacement isn't here yet, but Cadillac is simply preparing us for the idea that this is no longer going to be the cheapest Caddy. They just better hurry up with that BLS.

    New Car

Congrats on the HHR. Very cool car that I got to drive about a year ago. Much more roomy then I thought it would be. It's funny that you posted this since I'll be getting a new car by the end of the week. A black 2007 Pontiac G6. I'm very excited.
  3. Nice! I wonder if the recent sale of GM's Allison Transmission unit was done so the company could afford this. Now, GM technically won't be outsourcing its diesel for the upcoming CTS anymore. I wonder though.. this certainly goes against recent claims by Lutz that GM doesn't see a real future for diesel engines but I guess if there is still a demand for those engines, you need to give it to them.
  4. I may not be Canadian, but I live close enough that I think I should be allowed to answer. I would at least contact the DMV or the Canadian equivalent to the DMV in either Ontario or Newfoundland before doing anything with your cars. I'm sure someone will be able to tell you something. Newfoundland government website Ontario Province government website (Now in exciting new English-o-vision!!!!!)
  5. I hate to say it but I understand completely why these vehicles aren't in GMs near future. It makes so much more sense to go towards fuel efficiency then bling. Pumping serious money into alternative fuels and increasing MPG on your current cars is smart when you're really hurting for a big comeback. Pumping that same money into niche cars that appeal to enthusiasts and can only be purchased by people making more then $150,000 a year is idiotic. Look at Ford. From the late 90s to just a couple of years ago, they spent billions of dollars creating the niche vehicles (Thunderbird, GT) when they could've spent it on improving their current lineup or adding some more cash to their future high-volume vehicles. We all know the results - Ford made less money on selling the cars then they did making and the money that wasn't spent on their important models led to the current problems Ford is experiencing. GM is guilty of this, but at least the company is well on its way to fixing those errors like the Chevy SSR. Not the Kappa platform though. It turned out to be far more important to GM's future then previously thought with the Alpha platform being it's offspring.
  6. Nothing to get excited over. It's a Golf/Rabbit 4X4... big deal.
  7. I agree. Perhaps we'll a C7 concept that shows the design direction for the next Vette. Also, I really want to see what GM is going to do with the Cadillac version. Will they go Cien all the way or will they turn it into a supercar with Sixteen styling? It makes perfect sense for Cadillac since all luxury makers are putting some serious money into their own supercars. We can thank Audi for making it really popular, I guess.
  8. Well, if the Trailblazer/Envoy are going to be staying alive, GM will need to give them each a redesign or at least a substantial refresh that will keep them somewhat competitive with Toyota, Nissan, and Ford. I guess the demise of the truck-based SUVs was greatly exaggerated. I'm hoping that if GM wants to keep these two competitive, a redesigned and lighter weight platform will be a must.
  9. Is this based on insider information or something that you're hoping for?
  10. That's too bad about the family issues in Europe. I have yet to visit my cousins in France, but from what my Grandmother told me, they're your typical French citizens: have nothing nice to say about America or capitalism. Therefore, I'd rather wait for our government to clean up it's act and switch hands before I do any travelling across the atlantic. I hope you have a great time in Europe!
  11. I'm not really surprised. Like most advert campaigns, they start getting old and pointless. The same thing happened here and now that Buick is really trying to fix it's image with new products, the best thing to do is showcase them and not a pro-golfer.
  12. I don't think that's the Tonawanda plant in that photo.
  13. Excellent News for the Western New York Area. With a lot of the automotive related industry shutting down here, it's nice to see that GM means to stay for quite some time.
  14. If GM offered an extended cab with only a short pick-up truck bed, Edmunds would call it a half-assed attempt by GM and that the company just doesn't get it anymore. When Toyota does it and hints that there might be a full bed sometime in the future, it's called a serious threat to everyone. Could this have been anymore of an advertisement for the Tundra or what?
  15. Pretty big change from Texas/Utah. Anyway, sounds like it will be a blast. Hopefully, it won't be too cool since you going to be there during the middle of their springtime.
  16. I think it's agreed by most that Chrysler needs a lot of work done. The Sebring needs a complete styling overhall.. we're talking 08 Malibu. The current look does not fit on that platform and even if it did look well-proportioned, it would look very bland compared to the new mid-sized sedans coming to the market.
  17. Not that I think that GM isn't capable of making a good interior, but I question their decision to give the Aura the award for best interior in it's class. If anything, the Accord or the Camry still have the top trophy. I hate to say it but they are at least 3 years ahead of GM.
  18. The same three reasons every other automotive company, including GM, are colaborating: cheap labor, an already built factory, and did I already say cheap labor? With small cars like this, in order for Chrysler to make profit, it has to be built in a country where labor costs are very low. China still fits that bill. On top of that, Chrysler has very few, if any production facilities in Asia. Now that Daimler is no longer footing the bill or sharing any of their facilities, the fastest way to get this vehicle up and running is to do a joint venture with a Chinese company such as Chery. GM did it when it first introduced Buick back in the 90s with Shanghi automotive.
  19. Like most people here, I agree that the taillights and the color on the convertable version look pretty hideous. Gives the back-end a bug-eyed look. The new front clip is very nice and brings back that Saab flair that the brand used to have. This shows a promising future for the brand. I can't wait for the Ep II Saabs.
  20. Happy B-Day! Sign this petition as your present!!!!
  21. What the hell was that s*#@?! Is the world coming to an end?
  22. 1st xB was "interesting" and original. The new one is "been there, done that" but uglier at the same time. xD is the next xA = Dead on arrival. Offers nothing that Honda, Suzuki, and even Toyota don't already have.
  23. On top of that, the Saturn brand still has a smaller dealership network then Buick. Especially with the Buick/GMC/Pontiac dealership merger, you get more foot traffic and thus, more cross-shopping. Refering to Northstar's comments that the Saturn's numbers are disapointing, I think if you look back and remember that Saturn was practically on it's deathbed just a couple years ago.. it's quite remarkable that there is an increase in sales at all let alone leading GM's gains this year by selling over 10,000 more cars then last year at this time.
  24. That doesn't make sense considering that the current STS has a factory installed bluetooth either optional or standard on every trim level except for the base model STS V6. If the 08 CTS doesn't come with bluetooth factory installed at all, I think the reason might be because GM is really pushing the hands-free Onstar phone that would seem rather useless when you can get handsfree phone service and much more linking up your mobile with your car computer. However, I really doubt they would exclude it when Cadillac is really trying to appear as a legitimate global luxury brand.
