  1. Not going to happen. In an already over-saturated market, adding an a brand with zero recognition in the American market would prove to be a disaster. The only people who remember it are buying Avalons and Lexuses = Old People. It will be oldsmobile all over again... although, buyacargetacheck, I think you'd probably want that.
  2. I don't like Hyundai, so therefore, it will be gone in about 5 years. That's the kind of "logic" you guys are using around here in regards to Pontiac, Buick, and Saturn. Let's use some common sense people!
  3. You're basing your predictions based on your own opinion and not fact. And you really didn't read what I had written because I agree that Pontiac isn't bringing in the sales because of a lackluster lineup. Two to three years? Um.. ever heard of the Astra? Heard of the new Vue? Both are compact options in an increasingly favorable market for compact offerings. The increasingly popular Outlook will continue to bring people in who want an SUV without the low mpg. What about the potential Vectra wagon coming to our shores very soon? What about GM exploring the option of bringing diesels to the Opel designed models (the Astra and the Vue) by the end of the decade. And the hybrids. How can you forget about the hybrids? We're not talking four years out. We're talking less then two years. Again, you need to look at the facts before making these predictions. On the Corvette: How could you possibly know that a potential Kappa Chevy wouldn't have an impact on Vette buyers? You don't. You thinking one niche car raise the resale values of an entire brand simply shows that you're argument is somewhat hypocritical. You state that the Kappa vehicles aren't doing anything for Saturn or Pontiac yet you think that one vehicle will lift Chevy out of the doldrums. There is no logic in your statements. What chevy really needs is good high-volume cars like a redesigned Cobalt, Malibu, Impala, Aveo. It already has several niche cars either on sale or coming soon. It doesn't need anymore right now. People who buy cars like the SSR, the new Camaro or the Corvette rarely look at other Chevys. Why, you ask? Because the niche cars don't represent what Chevrolet has truely become.. a lineup of dull, poorly built, out-of-date econoboxes. Now that GM is actually putting money where it counts (a new high-volume compact platform, a new high-volume mid-sized platform, and a new high-volume full-sized RWD platform), Chevy is poised to regain what it lost years ago. Well-built vehicles that look good and compete with the likes of Toyota, Honda, and Nissan will raise resale value. Not one Kappa convertable. And, I don't know how many more times I can argue against this: changing the Saturn brand to Opel would be a huge mistake. GM would essentially be launching an entirely new brand in the US. Most car-buyers today sans baby-boomers remember Opel or even know if it's existence if they've never been outside the US or Canada. Saturn is a brand already on their minds. GM only needs to continue to offer new, attractive, and well-built vehicles to add on to Saturn's high-rated dealership experience and they will be able to get great results. It will take some time, but it will happen faster then having to shove new brand down the people's throats. Look how quickly Hyundai and Kia gained popularity. Seriously dude, the Kappas under Pontiac and Saturn were the right choice.
  4. Calm down man. I'm talking more about the styling. If GM could put that on the next Aveo, it would be a good competitor.... also, are you sure this is two class sizes and not one? The Beat would replace the Spark(one step below the Aveo) and the Fiesta would be Aveo sized (B-Class vehicle).
  5. What are the chances that this post goes up and he dies. Creepy. It's like the movie "The Ring".... only scary.
  6. Chevy Beat would be a good competitor to this. GM better hurry up with that.
  7. I'd say that Lexus has a lot to worry about when it comes to the Infiniti brand. It appeals to a much younger crowd which is what Lexus is desperately trying to do to secure it's future as top luxury brand in the US. Unfortunately, recent offerings have yet to show any sort of expressive styling trend and aging baby-boomers are buying these left and right. Lexus has the potential to become the new Cadillac or Buick ... as in, no one under 45 will buy one.
  8. Well, that is just your opinion. Others would argue that these cars are doing the job for each brand... that is, bringing in people to Pontiac and Saturn dealerships that would've never done so in the past. The only problem for Pontiac is that they really have no other products to compare with the Solstice in the looks department.. well.. not quite yet. Saturn was lucky because the Sky was just one of many new attractive vehicle offerings from the brand. Why would GM want to hurt sales of it's Corvette? That's exactly what would happen if Chevy received a Kappa variant. Though, it wouldn't put a huge dent in sales, it would still hurt them nonetheless. And like Pontiac Custom said, GM wasn't expecting this to be a high-volume vehicle and considering that there are far more Chevy dealerships then there are Pontiac or Saturn, it would've been extremely hard to keep up with demand. Look at how difficult it was with the Solstice and Sky. Pontiac and Saturn were the right brands.
  9. The interior looks like a disaster from a design and an ergonomic standpoint but the materials seem to be looking a little better... whereas the current Chrysler product interiors not only look awful, but are all-around cheap.
  10. Having been an XM user for a few years now, I have an obvious bias towards XM. My brother has Sirius and lets me borrow his online account to listen to Stern.. but other then that, I don't really listen to other channels. XM has a better lineup and I have a feeling that if and when the merger is completed, the majority of the channels that will be offered will be from XM.
  11. Looks like it lost what little influence it had from GM on the previous model (i.e. the radio).. which could be a good thing depending on who you talk to. GM purists will complain that it's more Toyota now then ever, others will say it's more high-quality because the crappy GM radio of yesteryear is gone. Whatever the opinion, it should do as well or better then the current Vibe in sales since the demand for compact vehicles is on the rise and people want a fresher looking option. Glad it's getting the G8 treatment though on the outside.
  12. Like most people have said here, China won't really do this. Not unless they are ready to go back to being a hardcore communist regime.. closing itself off completely from the west and have all foreign businesses leave. They're just pushing their weight around after the constant complaints from the US that the yuan's is kept weak to keep exports up. Eventually, China will have to raise the value and when that happens, southeast asia, and India will be the go to regions for companies looking to save a lot of money.
  13. uh.... huh..... well, look on the bright side, at least no one will confuse this with any other sub-compact car. Kind of like how no one confused the Aztek with any attractive vehicles.
  14. I doubt Saab would commit that much money for a new bodystyle for a limited edition model, on an old platform about to be phased out in favor of the Ep II in a couple of years.
  15. I still like this vehicle. It's not really meant to be flashy. That's what the next GTO will be for. I have no doubt this will sell better then the GTO for one major reason: it has four doors. Coupes (especially coupes with names most people aren't familiar with) aren't just that popular enough in the US/Canada to bring huge profits to any automaker. The Mustang and the upcoming Camaro are the exceptions because they have deep-rooted ties to the best of American automobiles. This will still have clean yet attractive styling, a great engine, a great interior (feel greatful GM kept it), and enough room that you can take it on long trips with a family.
  16. It's not like this billion dollar sponsorship did any good for GM. It's somewhat of a smart move when you think about all the money GM has wasted especially now that the ratings over the past decade for the Olympics are on the decline. Product is key now, not advertising in a drawn-out, and increasingly unpopular sporting event.
  17. Fantastic. Make sure to keep us updated on the build date and when you get the car delivered.
  18. The difference is that Saab has a very clear plan set in place and offers a unique European offering for those not wanting to buy the typical German fare. Olds had been turned into a upper level version of Chevy which was a position already occupied by Pontiac, Buick, and to a lesser extent, Cadillac. There was no longer any reason for it to exist considering most regular buyers went on to buy from other nicer vehicles from the competition. On top of that, Olds still had no clear plan set into place and the constant reinventions GM put the brand through didn't help matters at all.
  19. Very nice looking vehicle. Very luxurious looking as well. Something that this segment is currently missing. I wonder how much influence there was from the guy who designed the Solstice on this baby?
  20. I know it's one little tiny thing, and I don't want to be the A**hole for pointing this out, but it should be the Daewoo Kalos, not Kalso.
  21. I learned Français in school starting from 5th grade all the way up to my Junior year in High School. I have yet to successfuly complete a sentence in french without screwing something up. I took it mostly because my father, aunt, and grandmother are all citizens of the country as well as countless cousins that I've never even met before. Probably should've stuck to Spanish. Would've had much more use for it living in this country. Before I die, I at least want to try to learn Chinese (mandarin), Hungarian, and maybe even Italian.
  22. Thanks guys. First time I've been on all day. Had to work, on my birthday no less. THOSE BASTARDS. Nah, just kidding. I did it to myself. Look for the avatar/sig to return again soon. I'm just biding my time. I'm like a snake ready to pounce.
  23. Not really surprised that the Saudi's like Cadillacs. Didn't a Saudi prince try to pay GM a huge amount of money for a production version of the Sixteen concept a few years back?
  24. The people are more dangerous the the religious zealots that supposedly run this country. Not necissarily because of their beliefs but the fact that they are willing to destroy property, cause physical harm, and ultimately break the laws of the land just because you don't agree with them. If these people had their way, we'd have less freedoms then we have now and we probably wouldn't be living in houses because their "environmental footprints" would be too large. Hell, they'd probably support a federal mandate to limit families to one child per household because the more people we have, the more pollution there is. You think I'm joking about the last part, but that's the new argument being made by the extreme environmentalists. I'm serious. Look it up. Now, I'm not a conservative nor a liberal. I care about the environment but I'm a realist. A hybrid car is not going to solve the earth's problems and taking Hummers off the road won't make the atmosphere any cleaner. These people are crazy and have to be stopped before the word ecological becomes synonymous with the word nutjob.
