    New acquisition

Thanks, KF; it's always nice to have another old tube radio around the house. I listen to the morning news on it while I eat my breakfast before work.
  2. I just clicked the link right now and it works for me so who knows what's going on. Anywho, for those of you that can't see it, it's a museum-quality restored 1969 ZL1 Camaro for $4500, e-mail only.
  3. Uhhhh the link still works dude, just click it.
  4. http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/cto/835273037.html Totally legit, obviously. Think I could talk him down to $4000?
  5. Dude, you live in Lawrence; it has the highest Hispanic population per capita ANYWHERE in ASSachusetts by far, what do you expect? I totally agree with you about what you're saying, by the way, it's just I find it funny that you're acting surprised about it given where you live. Here, I found a nice t-shirt for ya:
  6. ..... I think I'll wait for this one to come out on cable. Shouldn't be long after its premiere if it's as exciting as it sounds.

Two of the three radios I'm getting rid of; they are beat to death and one for sure (the little Philco) isn't worth restoring. The Grunow Air-Wave could be saved if somebody who is very skillful with woodworking got a hold of it, but the cabinet is a mess. The veneers are all chipped and cracked and beat up and the base especially is bad because it sat in somebody's damp basement, meaning it's a little rotted and swollen and everything's delaminated down there. Shame, too, as it's a very handsome art deco radio that even has a tuning eye and everything. I bought them all specifically for the super rare General Motors radio: the girl that owned them said I would have to take all of them if I wanted it, so that's what I did. The GM is mine and the other two are being resold immediately.
  8. That's a Phantom? Looks like a Silver Cloud limousine to me, but what I know about Rolls-Royce after the Second World War I could write on a business card.

That's really neat; I'd love to see pictures of it. My grandparents have a Chrysler air conditioner in their house from the late 1930's that still blows cold after all these years. Very good, sir! Mine is a Model 252 console: It looks very presentable for its age and works beautifully! Picked it up along with two other consoles, a Grunow Air-Wave that needs some love but is savable and a Philco model 41-258 that is beat to death, all for $100. There really is nothing like the sound of an old vacuum tube radio. I'm thinking I should buy a nice 1930 Cadillac V-16 model to set on top of it!

    New acquisition

All good guesses, but no, not any of them. And once again: this is a General Motors product, not Frigidaire or Delco or any other of their subsidiaries.

Nope, not a light and nothing under the Delco Name; this is a General Motors product. Another excellent guess, though. I'll entertain a few more and then post pics.

    New acquisition

Nope, not a fridge. Excellent guess, though. It IS an item that is used in the home.
  13. Just picked up a General Motors product from 1930 a few hours ago after work; anybody care to guess what it is?
  14. I make it a point not to watch infomercials lately because if I want to buy something I'd rather do it without that tool Billy Mays yelling at me about why I should. Whatever happened to the good old days with Ron Popeil pitching useless crap like the Inside-the-Shell Egg Scrambler and Hair in a Can?
  15. Nothing wrong with a nice pair of whitewalls, or the infinitely more uncommon double (inside and outside) whitewalls or, rarer still, all white tires. I think all white tires look great on Fatty Arbuckle's 1919 Pierce-Arrow: X 1,000,000

    Mail trucks

Hah! That's exactly what I was thinking. I was like, could the USPS have picked a vehicle with a worse transmission for what they'd like to do with it?

    'A'

Yeah, a great idea until the windshield gets broken and replacement cost is three times what a normal windshield goes for. Hope you got glass insurance! And speaking of Cutlasses, my '77 had a windshield antenna as well

I dunno what it's like in everybody's neck of the woods, but around here the Post Office has started phasing in new Dodge Caravans for some routes. The mail guy that delivers to my second job just got his; said he was one of 20 that got one after putting his name on a list and being picked at random. I just wonder if my area is a test, or if this is what we'll be seeing in the future.
  19. I agree with what the article is saying; out of all the things mentioned, the only one I've ever said and will continue to say is "passed away," because it doesn't sound as crude as "died" but also doesn't sound like you're afraid to talk about death.
  20. +1
  21. That's sick. I would be honored to be pulled over by the new Z06!
  22. I beg to differ. Packard didn't call their early (1915-1923) V-12 a "Twin Six" for nothing: it was quite literally cast in two blocks of six cylinders each and shared a common crank, cylinder heads, valve covers, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, water jackets, etc. Then production halted for a while, development continued for marine and aircraft applications only, and it was not until the early 1930's that they released a V-12 with the block done as a single casting.
  23. Someone at your school daily drives a retired mail truck? That might be cool if it was one of the old Jeep DJ-5's, but the LLV is uuuuuuuuuugly. Pictures, please!
  24. A beautiful 1967 Dodge Charger was the highlight of my spotting today
  25. Nothing and proud of it. Not really big on tattoos, especially since every retard and their brother has like 16 of them now. Plus the thought of an electric needle digging a permanent picture into my skin just isn't my idea of a good time. And piercings? Faaaaaaaaaack THAT! The only holes I want in me are the ones I came with!
