  1. Toyota Corolla...stripped down. One fine day, I am driving into the SF area on the Bay Bridge. After passing the toll booths in Oakland, I start picking up speed to make it up the east span of the bridge. There are 5 lanes on top and 5 lanes going the other way below. I am going about 62 and, at mid-span, I have to brake for the Toyota Corolla in the MIDDLE lane going 47. I go around and it is a tiny Asian girl who CANNOT see over the dash and is clinging to the steering wheel as if it's going to fall off. I honk and gesture at her and she is still hanging onto the wheel for dear life, trying desperately to look straight ahead over the dash. Annoying.
  2. I am more corteous to drivers of a car than to an SUV. Then, I a more corteous to drivers of a "regular" car than, say, a Mercedes or a Lexus. But, overall, I am a conservative driver, given that I drive a Regal.
  3. Still not quite midnight on the other coast, so Happy Birthday! Bright and early for some birthday greetings, P! :AH-HA_wink:

  5. Somehow this became an Aurora thread, so I'll chime in. I appreciate the Gen 01 Aurora but like the Gen 02 Aurora a lot better. I only wish it had retained a closer rendition of the beautiful wrap-around dash of the Gen 01 version. We can't even compare the Lucerne as being in the same ball-park. In CX guise, the Lucerne is an entry-level big car, but a very good one. The Aurora is more of a specialty touring sedan. While I like most things about the Lucerne, I don't like the seating. You can look at the seating from the window or when the door is open and see that the buckets (or the 40-20-40 bench portions) are shapeless and lacking in support. While this car should be anything but a Grand Prix, there needs to be more sculpting in the actual seats themselves to make for a better ergonomic fit and more comfort on a long road trip.
  6. They probably were...as they gladly relieved your family of a few greenbacks.

  9. We have 2 Spanish speaking architects at work and we needed to figure out how to say this in Spanish. It would be: "Comedora de Alfombra" (Eater of Carpet) This is hilarious. We will pop our heads into each other's offices as we walk by and say "A-l-f-o-m-b-r-a" in a very stern and drawn out manner and others have no clue who we're talking about. We still periodically send e-mails with this message to people who have left our firm but were in on the joke.

  12. you are WAY too predictable....after I wrote my post, I figured you'd go there as it rhymes. Reply: DING

  15. ORANGE Thanks, PB, you're such an ass...
  16. Just a joke. A purser is a position on the ship...that's what Isaac, the black guy, did on "The Love Boat."
  17. I can only stand mild food. That being said, I like (cooked) Japanese food and Chinese food of the Cantonese variety (moving away toward Mandarin and Szechwan (sp) doesn't work for me). And I like it with a knife, fork and spoon. I must be one of the few people I know that will NOT go near Thai and Vietnamese food. Even with zero stars is too spicy for me. I don't like to sit there and go back to work with my nose running.

  19. Hell no. Do we ask Asians how well THEY do at eating with spoons and forks? Why do we try to imitate cultures we are not when we are NOT on their soil. When in Rome, do as the Romans do...but on our turf, why bother?
  20. The Doria's safes were supposed to be filled with money, jewelry and artworks and they went down there (a documentary show) and did not find anything worthwhile. (The purser took them all!!!) They even cut an additional hole in the ship to get to them. It was egg on the face but it made for an interesting 1-hour documentary.
  21. Forgetting about the load of Asian cars dropped into the water off Alaska, did anyone watch the History Channel documentary on the Andrea Doria sinking and rescue last night?
