yeah, its a wide butt. a nice improvement over the current taurus. its not beautiful. but it is decent and just fine to compete with the imports. to me the c pillar and rear door are g6-ey.

what GM will brand serve the younger mid size and compact demographic? too many folks don't want a chevy. can't afford caddy. don't want a buick. there is no saturn or pontiac to plug that gap. well, GM got the cash but now must bend to what everyone else wants. here's the thing. saturn may just transfer ownership somehow because of their unique arrangement. are they neccessarily dead? GM already said they can't find a saab buyer. and pontiac still having 4 models etc. is not niche to me. maybe in volume, but the brand will still be there and need some marketing effort. let's close down chrysler entirey please if we need to get rid of pontiac.

well it sure sells well now when you consider 10 years ago, no one in this country would spend money on small cars without a lot of space. the driving qualities of it obviously are a reason, but an equal amount of it is the fashion/bmw component.

no way leasing was only 9%. creidble outlet i recall reading was GM ford etc leased at 25-30% of their business. so when chrysler and gm etc killed their own leasing, in a way, that's their own problem.

spark? fiesta? both very nice. bend over people, the greenies and wall streeters ruined the world so this is the type of things we might be able to afford anytime in the next 5 years.

you know, its legit to criticize the car based on the prices being asked. however, if the pricing was in line, this is more desirable than say, a corolla. if you want to talk expensive, mini. maybe justified as an S trim, but a base mini ain't a bargain. also, if you look at the base mazda3, civic etc with like options, they ain't much cheaper or faster etc. even the cobalt gets pricy in comparison if you option it up and rebates are not high on them. even the focus gets pricey with a few options. small cars aren't as cheap as advertised. the versa for example, they brought in the stripper to advertise at 9995 on tv, but find an automatic versa with cruise and abs..........17 grand for a steaming pile like the versa. if you want to be repulsed by a small car, drive the versa. it's even hard to make a case for the fit in high trim levels. 19 grand for 110 horse or whatever? Most small cars that you buy over say 140 hp will set you back 17 grand at least. i think its fair to criticize GM's options pacakaging and MSRPs but that is a fair criticism of nearly all of GM's cars. GM has no clue how to price cars.

good news on the regal. the opel products need to infiltrate NA as much as possible. the chinese regal is an attractive car. the lacrosse will carry larger engines and such. perhaps the regal will get the 4 cyl turbo and MAYBE! even the manual. t-type? LOL

we need global automobile standards and certification. we can tier it. i.e. fuel economy standard 2009.02. safety standard 2009.04. emissions 2009.03. then the chinese could sell their crap here, even if it were labelled 1977.03, for example. well you could mandate that no car sold in the US then that can't meet in 2009 for example, global safety standard 2002. or something like that. then you literally could slap a pontiac grille on the holden and sell it here. there is too much money required to do badge jobs like this.

i love how everyone always says we need fewer brands to save marketing costs. how about we become more efficient and productive with our marketing money? the way GM and promotes and advertises its products is annoying. And seldom works. Perhaps better promotion concepts and ideas would help. now dealers? yes, there are too many. but those cannot be completely cut efficiently. gradual phase out is needed. when the market contracts, you need fewer MODELS. when the market was strong 8 years ago and the buff books and critics were saying each carmaker needed to chases each niche, you'd say GM's brand strategy was an advantage.

DUMB ASSES!!!!!!!!!!! they rip the acceleration, but i doubt a base cooper or a corolla is faster. car and driver had the astra as the best top gear roll on times. is a mazda 3 2.0 faster? they say the car got only 22mpg and yet i struggle to see how when real world users consistently report in the thirties. what the hell does edmunds do to their cars? they do take fair rips on the other obvious flaws. and yes, they already did get a piece of my mind.
