  1. the awesome website melodic rock GUNS N ROSES KICK OFF WITH NYC DATES: Good Guns N Roses news for US fans, from MTV News last week: "Before Axl Rose's current incarnation of Guns N' Roses heads to Europe for a string of festival appearances, the band will be performing a pair of concerts at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, according to a press release from concert promoter Live Nation. Tickets for both shows — set for May 15 and 17 — will set fans back $63, and go on sale April 21 at 10 a.m. Doors open for both nights at 7:30 p.m. There's no word yet on who might be opening for Guns N' Roses, or whether there will be an opener at all. Velvet Revolver kitman Matt Sorum, who was also a member of Guns N' Roses, wrote in his online blog that he'd had a recent run-in with Rose while in New York, where the drummer performed with Camp Freddy, an all-star cover band featuring ex-Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro; Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell, Revolver's Scott Weiland and Duff McKagan, Moby, Gina Gershon, Shooter Jennings, and former Fuel frontman Brett Scallions also played with the band that evening. Sorum said he spotted Axl at a party. "I hadn't seen him in at least six years," he wrote. "I walked over and said 'Hello.' We shook hands, and it was pleasant. Later that evening, I ended up in a loft somewhere in the East Village where Axl was again. We spoke for quite some time, and it was nice to clear some things up. I told him how great of a frontman he was while I was in the band and no hard feelings from me at all". "It was an all-around good vibe, I think." Guns N' Roses are set to perform the first of 17 European festivals on May 27, when they take the stage during Rock in Rio in Lisbon, Portugal. The last of GN'R's overseas gigs will take place on July 8 in Oslo, Norway, at Spektrum. Back in February, several songs said to be from the Chinese Democracy sessions leaked online. There's still no word on when Rose's decade-in-the-making LP will see release [Note: Maybe September now I heard last week...]. The two New York concerts will be Guns N' Roses first American shows in more than three years. Back in 2002, the band played a number of dates before pulling the plug on what was to be a global trek." WebLink: www.mtv.com/news/articles/1528705/20060414/guns_n_roses.jhtml?headlines=true.

  3. actually, the side glass is eerily too much like the MAXIMA's they've just extended the chrome moldings and blacked out a little larger area behind the door...ALA 9-3/BLS. that angle of the rear door cut where the glass is has got to be exactly the same as the max. the front end is far too similar to the current maxima also. the rear end is shorter by a touch. the way the hood transitions into the a pillar is dam close to the same also. i swear, they are sharing a lot more parts here than they are leading on to. I still think its some form of a reskin of either the alt or the max. oh well, at least its a whole lot better than the disastrous Hyundai new twin offerings.

  10. agree. my 99 prizm corolla which had the same engine basically as what is still in the corolla now, no power for the freeway. and i had a stick. most of the time i got 30 and did get 33 on some trips. but the current corolla is heavier. mpg and accel will suck. meanwhile, i've enjoyed the ecotec in every form i have sampled it. it is torque rich, enjoys revving and real world testimonies support 30-high thirties mpg on a regular basis even if epa numbers don't reach that.

  12. as hard as it sounds, what potential mates really find attractive about others besides looks is general postivity, outgoingness, and confidence. that, and nice well groomed appearance and semi expensive clothing too can help. i am not saying don't be honest about the things you worry about and feel bad about, or have doubts on, or frustrations. Its just that potential mates or girlfriends and boyfriends are usually looking to fill the void in their own lives with reassuring, positive, fun, ahppy and confident people. So even if it all the hardships of life and the weight of the world are getting to you, still try to put on a good face to everyone you meet everyday and always try to be positive, cheerful and fun. You'll quickly find out how many can accept one's faults, because the good stuff is what they want to be around. case in point. one of my close friends is a hot female, she's now like 37 but looks way hot, like she's 23 or something. She's so amazing to be around because she always if focused on being positive and is so outgoing and cheery. Even though many aspects of her life suck. She is the prototypical outgoing, attractive, and fun person which would explain why she would never go more than 5 minutes without a date if she wanted. Often, back before she was married, she would be dating 2-3 guys at a time. good looking, outgoing and fun people just serve to show us how easy it is when you have it that good. and they take it for granted. people like me who are not hot and are introverts and sometimes negative really have to work at it to be positive and fun and gorgeous, it does not come naturally or easily. Some of us need to work at it and others don't...but if it gets you in the door as far as friends and realtionships its worth it and then over time if someone is really your friend or lover they will like you in spite of your weaknesses but at first you almost have to de-emphasize all your demons or flaws etc. THERE IS someone for everyone, sometimes more than one, or more then twenty. For some of us, its harder to find that one, it doesn't get served up on a platter and sometimes we are forced to wait...
  13. I did the whole Element analysis before we got our Aztek. My well equipped Aztek v6 FWD with 17" wheels and sunroof was far cheaper then a manual transmission Element. The Aztek has more useful power and actually gets the same or better real world mileage, if not better. (20 in town/25 on the road) The Aztek is larger and built sturdier. 4 real doors, seating for 5. The seats can come out of the aztek as opposed to being leaned up against the side windows. The aztek can haul plywood easily in the cargo bay. try that with your element. my pontiac dealer was friendly. honda dealers are asses. 40,000 miles and one tiny defect (wheel bearing, likely due to abuse). Been wholy reliable so far. Just like a Honda. As for looks, each can be their own judge but I actually think my red Aztek with 17's is far nicer to look at than a grey bumpered Element. Insurance is cheap on the Aztek too. Pontiac WAS on to something but the styling suggested they were ON something instead. Had they got the styling right, they may have connected with more younger buyers. The element is ok, but not worth what you pay vs. what you get/can get elsewhere. A new baseline FJ Cruiser CREAMS the Element, IMHO.
  14. let's hope. the baby boomers have definitely warped our country in other ways too. this last weekend we visited both parents. my dad is 65 and made a comment about how nice the toyotas are and how much he liked the neighbor's Avalon that shares the big parking garage at the condo. He has a friend there who is like 80+ who bought a new Toyota pickup as well. Of course my dad is warped, he thinks it was two years ago you could buy new LeSabres for 17 grand and new Impalas for 16 grand so now he sees new Lucernes for 25 grand and thinks GM is out to rip everyone off. Apparently he hasn't priced any Toyotas yet. Then at my father in laws' (he is 80+), he was commenting on how he likes some of the new Toyotas. yeesh. My brother in Laws Father who is near 60 just bought an Avalon a few months back. Maybe Toyota is in line for a harsh reality in about 5-10 years?

  21. you're on the right track but I am guessing the black toyota that pulls up to take away variance will have hippie/ecoweenie bumper stickers on the back, or samurai logos.....
  22. i think most folks see ethanol as helping us to become more self sufficient long term than strictly hybrids+still using oil. I have some beefs with ethanol, however, it helps us diversify our energy sources and we need that right now. My wife's hometown is building an ethanol plant now. You can see how such a thing rallys support big time for E85, especially in the corn belt. Looks like Toyota passed off that bunch of people and now they are trying to suck up to them. I love it. toyota, YOU suck.
