  1. a heard Toyota hired a new spokesperson, Pinocchio. Or was it Tommy Flanagan (Jon Lovitz) from Saturday Night Live skits?
  2. congrats. Those new 18" wheels on the sedan really get me going. did you go stick or automatic?
  3. sometimes companies need to stay competitive too, the Ranger plant here in St. Paul keeps slowing down, because Ford hasn't updated the damn truck in like 15 years!!!!!!! no wonder they are always bemoaning the possibility of plant closure.
  4. Chinese Factory Worker Can't Believe The crap He Makes For Americans the onion
  5. couldn't they make 'valve' openings similar to a camera shutter with some sliding plates or something? i dunno, its late.
  6. one dealer told me that a large percentage of Vues sold are with the 4 cyl. 5 speed combo. Like 30-40% of the 4 cylinder ones but I'm not sure if he was jerkin my chain. the last two cars my sister bought were sticks. i want one too, but am afraid of the traffic thing. my 99 prizma nd 89 sho had sticks and i enjoyed them, but right now its tough to justify unless i win the lottery and can afford an extra car. Lots of Mazda 6's are sold with sticks. lots of VW's are too. it just seems to me that the G6 manual would have a much greater acceptnace if they actually had some sedans at lower price points and did a cheap 4 cylinder sports package as well.
  7. i hear the minnesota vikings will be on board.
  8. their quality was not great to start with and they not 'declining' they are NOSEDIVING
  9. so the focus scores a 9.5 in emissions ratings but only a 7 in greenhouse gases, the prius does better in greenhouse gases. a- greenhouse effect is a theory and besides it wouldn't hurt if the globe warmed up some here in MN anyways b-the prius does indeed do well in cleaning the emissions but for most pratcial purposes a california equipped PZEV focus will do pretty much as well c- if you want clean air, leave california. there is plenty of clean air in north dakota, trust me.
  10. if this had been GM or Ford, it would have been plastered all over the news, the only thing the person watching tv remembers is the brand name, the number of vehicles and 'recall'.
  11. how reliable is a stalled prius or a corolla without lights? especially on a zero degree winter night with your kid in the back?
  12. make sure you look at the MSRP too, of course its rich looking for a compact, 150hp car, when the MSRP is north of 25 grand.
  13. ugly
  14. Pontiac has priced the G6 GTP manuals out of contention. Most GTP G6's are optioned to the gills and priced at 28-30k on lots. TRY to find a G6 GTP manual somewhere for the base price. It would make more sense if Pontiac offered a basic G6 with 3.9 and manual for more like 22 grand. And the base 4 cylinder should be offered with stick for around 17 or 18. Like the Fusion. Sonata even offers stick with 4.
  15. both of these are exactly the type of stuff Ford and GM need to latch onto and be leaders in, and also, I've always thought that once these tow ideas became feasible, they would be HUGE. I would defintiely give my OHC and OHV up for a 'camless engine'.
  16. somebody please find some data on the Prius emissions so I can see if it emits significantly less than a simple ford focus that likely gets darn close to the same mileage.
  17. Compared to the nation-wide Tier I emissions standard, the SULEV standard requires 97 percent fewer hydrocarbon emissions, 76 percent less carbon monoxide and 97 percent less nitrogen oxide. In practical terms, a SULEV like the Focus PZEV emits only one pound of smog-forming pollution over 15,000 miles of driving. That’s good enough to earn a perfect “10” on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Guide to Green Cars. By comparison, each Focus powered by a 2.0-liter Zetec four-cylinder engine – itself a clean, efficient design – emits up to 10.7 pounds of smog-forming pollution and a vehicle certified to the Tier 1 standard emits about 30.1 pounds over the same distance here
  18. glowing? Prius review? msnbc 60 mpg? RIIIGGGGHHHHHHTTT
  19. if we all don't buy a prius, hell in a hand basket and armageddon will occur, oh my GOD we'll run out of CLEAN AIR for our CHILDREN TO BREATHE!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course driving a partial zero emissions Focus would accomplish the same 'saving society' kind of feat, but where Ford won't threaten your psyche with, 'buy our car or because buying a non-Toyota will mean your family will die soon', Toyota chooses to imply this in their advertising, and worse yet, all the clueless fuqs in the world drink the Koolaid on word that Toyota is the only manufacturer in the world participating towards reducing emissions (and thereby not willingly killing all our future generations of children). DOES THE PRIUS ERADICATE THE WORLD OF BIRD FLU TOO???????????????? I bet some advertising agency hired by Toyota is concocting a way to suggest such a thing as we speak.........
  20. the Vikings getting hummers and sex acts on the boats is all that's receiving coverage here.
  21. oh oh, is viper around? or is it panther with the Fiero? BTW, I saw a KILLER yellow fastback Fiero GT the other day, in pristine shape. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
  22. people are so desperate these days to 'make a statement' or 'be a part of something revolutionary' or 'in with the right crowd'. Its like people will feel unloved or will descend to loser status if they don't buy the right car. And Toyota is appealing to all of our human insecurities in a masterful way. Yes, I know their cars don't break down a hellofalot, but there are more reaons than that now for why everyone drinks their coolaid. Maybe I am more upset about how very few of our citizens in the USA today can think of themselves anymore in light of all this image consciousness and relentless bombardment of marketing and half baked media and journalism at every turn in our lives.
  23. most folks would be better off pocketing the 10 grand and getting a base 4 cylinder malibu, which can often top 35mpg from what I've heard in multiple sources.
  24. pretty nasty
