should do well in China! it's like a Chrysler 300 mated with a Hyundai of some kind. Avenir, or CT6, take yer pick props for being a big improvement over the MKS though (my brother in law has an MKS and loves it)

Lease The Lame Duck Chevy Cruze For $37/Month, $0 Down
regfootball replied to pow's topic in Chevrolet
2500 is with volt loyalty, and the costco membership is executive, and the 700 is a gift card. if you have a competitive lease (which i do), the incentive is 1500 instead of 2500. there are other incentives involved. i caught this a few days ago and already ran some sceanarios -
Seems like the hybrid is a great choice for him. Underscores what I mentioned earlier.....voltec needs to go Malibu sized

for 100k they need to find a way to get on consumer reports recommended list and not have headlines saying 2/3 of their cars are broke. and it would help if their CEO weren't a douche for smk Mazda 6 (2014 sales: 53,224) Mazda honestly is all hype these days too. Mazda, put some f-king power under the hood MAZDA, don't play the 'just enough power' thing anymore. What Mazda needs more than anything is a subprime loan campaign ala mits in the early 00's. Malibu will outsell 'the drivers car' 4 to 1.

Chevy isn't the first to do that. The Camry hybrid and Accord Hybrid (now defunct) run 0-60 in the low 7s. But I'll never understand the hyprocrisy of quoting a hybrid for brisk acceleration that only degrades it's true metric of performance of intended function - efficiency. a hybrid with good performance, though, helps justify the higher sticker. If you price the hybrid like they are and its as slow as the base car or even slower, then for sure its gonna sit on lots.
-
my balt has been solid up to 100k now, and if it were an automatic i'd prob just keep it and drive it into the ground. getting tired of the stick again. My wife and i just said today if my daughter were starting driving now we would just keep it for that.
-
Another reason the Malibu hybrid may do better than many think. The base engine is only moderate performance. The hybrid is a way to step up in acceleration but not spend to go all the way up to the 2.0. Its like a defacto midlevel engine choice.

http://www.hybridcars.com/erick-belmers-chevy-volt-traveled-its-100000th-all-electric-mile-today/ Malibu hybrid is a 3/4 step to the full volt powertrain. Electric with gas range extender will be the way to for the majority of folks as they get into electrification. And this is an example why, people love their volt with plug in and gas range extender I see in 3 years or so, this Malibu might adopt the full voltec, maybe not in its current shape, but clearly at some point voltec has to meet the midsize market and I believe it will succeed. This is precisely why I don't give a crapola about tesla until they sell 30,000 dollar cars to the masses.
-
yup. at some point too, gas is back at 4 or 5 bucks. then, to own one of these is golden.
-
... that's called the Bolt. bolt has no range extender, fairly useless for a trip vehicle if your mom is 300 miles away. 200 miles on the bolt is great but a plug in that you could do at least 100-150 miles + range extender will still be the way to go for a long time.

Except the Malibu cannot drive on electric only power for "X" number of miles like the Volt. Two different types of cars IMO. Not exactly the same, but that's my point. Someone will come in and think 'the volt is too small' and then you just qualify them, do you really need the plug in? Would a cheaper car with more room make sense to you? You can snag an electric intender who is not yet ready to pay the full price for a plug in, so chevy can downsell and get those people. They may not come in wanting a hybrid, but if you show them the plug in and back them down to the hybrid then that MSRP on the Bu Hybrid looks like a bargain, and they haven't compared it to the Fusion or Camry. Saying it has 'a good part of the same hybrid system as the volt' adds value because its not the same 'low grade hybrid' like the fusion or camry. Not everyone who comes in to look at the volt is going to decide they need the plug in. When you get the people to make the decision, then you can downsell the Malibu and they will think you are giving them more value. I would imagine that a lot who come in on a Volt also don't know about the additional cost of the faster chargers and then balk. Exactly.Remember , malibu has 'the same technology' as the volt, and you don't need to spend extra on a charger to save gas!

Malibu hybrid is now a great upsell or down sell from people walking in the door to look at volts 'Do they make a bigger volt"? "Why yes they do, and it's cheaper, you don't even have to plug it in"

Buick News: Buick Envision Is Coming To The U.S. Next Summer

the nox like many 2010+ era GM products and other brands have very intrusive dashboards, especially the lower part. My guess is this part of the ramp up in crash engineering to control the knees and for placement of air bags. Now again over time the crash engineering is still improving and some newer models now are going away from those super intrusive dash designs. (even if the consoles are getting more intrusive, oddly). Nox is a larger vehicle physically than a lot of its competition right now so really the beef is that its just inefficient design. Next nox will align more with the class its in. a Crv utilizes its interior space allotment compared to its wrapper really well. But the end game for that is that its a tinny rat hole $h! box. I'm not sure whether any of the vehicles in this class allow for a golf bag, but keep in mind crossovers as a whole are popular because of the perception that trunks in CUV's carry more. Well, if you've been around cars enough you know the crossover trunks are actually really small. Most of em. They just have higher load floors which are easier to use and you can fold the seat. BUt when the seat is up, you seldom get what you thought, which is why we had the taurus x. It actually had a better cargo area behind the third row than our van does now.. yet i am not sure if even that would get golf clubs in without standing them up a bit. Was tailgating with some friends recently who had a RAV4. That trunk makes the Equinox' look large, its pretty useless. I specifically now recall a time when i was selling, someone came in to look at a used first gen SRX and was bitching about (and brought with his golf clubs) to see if he could get them to fit and was upset that they wouldn't......even in the cadillac. He went off about how a Cadillac should be able to hold a golf club bag. A ford Taurus and chevy impala will swallow the golf bag. FOrd Edge might be about the only 2 row crossover i can think of that might be able to without tilting it up. It has a reasonably deep AND wide cargo space with the seats up.- 44 replies

Buick News: Buick Envision Is Coming To The U.S. Next Summer
regfootball replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Chevy / Gm is going where the buyers want. 3 rows. And they are breaking it into small 3 row (for occasional use) and large 3 row like the traverse for often use. And I think they will be both great markets. Some will be able to pay less for the occasional 3rd row. It's a great strategy. The used xl7's that did not have the third row sold less often and for less money than those that did. You could never move an XL7 without it. Although I almost bought the usedone we couldn't move without it because the trunk was so big. Ford does the third row best in non minivan vehicles. 3rd row is ample and super easy to fold and unfold and it doesn't take much space and leaves a bunch of trunk space because the load floor is not way high up like GM's Some folks don't like the low load floor though. Flex is probably the best packaged 3 row non van on the market. It just needs a prettier wrapper and a new platform.- 44 replies

Buick News: Buick Envision Is Coming To The U.S. Next Summer
regfootball replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Nox/terrain is one of the more efficiently packaged Gm vehicles. GM usually is highly inefficient with its space packaging. Nox terrain is spacious in both rows. The sliding rear seat is a huge factor if you want your kids to have leg room esp compared to the escape. The trunk width is where the nox disappoints but it is the typical extremely intrusive wheel housings that are the reason for this. So many of gM s vehicles have no trunk width left after Gm trims out the trunk around the wheels. Why is that? And gm makes extremely high trunk decks. Look at cars like ATS laCrosse and many others. No efficiency. The Mitsubishi outlander is a small 3 row with a sliding seat and it's got tons of second row room and tons of trunk space.- 44 replies
