  1. whoa...that interior looks like it was penned by an italian, so much character, flair and extroverted good looks, and taste, that is a work of beauty. the exterior is similarly curvaceous and exciting. Ford would do extremely well to go with this look for the refresh, I'm not totally digging the rear but the front is fantastic and the shape, ah the shape, where have i seen that before, ah yes camaro. it looks real good; this would make a very exciting 2010 Mustang.
  2. all i can say is a great job by GM. I can see what you're saying, empowah, about the blobby front end, but I think this car has great character, and that is what will appeal to many people, that and the terrific execution. This is infinitely better done than Edge, and I like that car. The only thing I want to see is some radio design for the standard Enclave that shows design ingenuity, and isn't shared with every other GM car, somehting exclusive to the Buick line, as I feel it should be across the board. the seating looks plush and firm and supportive i love that they kept the luxury going in the second and third row, something i feel is missing from the expensive tahoe. the luggage area behind the third row looks surprisingly large. the attention to detail is great.
  3. hey dodgefan, a pretty similar car to the millenia is the nissan maxima, and back in the day those cars were actually amazing well engineered. from '89 on, these cars were powerful, handled well, high quality, roomy, spacious, very structurally sound, and reliable of course. I recommend if you are in the market to look at one of these, nissan has always made pretty reliable cars.
  4. I know I would never say something even remotely close to what he said. I can't beleive people here aren't outraged by what he said....it was disgusting, beyond just being rude! He actually said along time ago we used to stick fork's up your ass........what the f@#k was he thinking. Let's go out back, I'll stick a fork up his ass, and we'll all see that he'll have the same reaction. It does affect the show for me because I like to think of the characters as people, and I like to think they would act and know that they couldn't use some ridiculous biggoted comments. I feel bad for the guy, he hasn't been successful in the industry for some time, despite making loads of money off of Seinfeld, he is definitely a multi-millionaire here guys so I don't how much sympathizing there will be for his position, but despite being worth in the tens of millions, he hasn't had work, his passion, in a long time, well any that was successful, especially wildly successful and iconic like his character KRamer. So he tries out stand up comedy to exercise his creativity/passion, isn't used to it, isn't very good at it, doesn't like to get heckled, someone takes it too far and he goes bezerk. that's the only to describe what he did. I was at a show one time there, bob sagat was the comedian, he actually heard me talking to a waitress and then started making fun of me saying i was trying to make babies everywhere, it was pretty damn funny. what kramer said is anything but funny.
  5. I still don't get why everyone wants so many different versions of the same car. Let's limit one minivan to one brand, no more is really necessary, especially since the SUVs are really just minivans in drag.
  6. i'm pretty bummed. i've thought it was a classic forever. it's one of the few shows i used to watch on TV, now I haven't seen it since before the incident. I don't think I'll be able to look at kramer the same as before.
  7. sounds exciting [sarcasm]
  8. Contrary to what Camino states, Cadillac is far worse than that. Evok has it right.....CTS, Cadillac, Escalade, have all been one hit wonders. They have not followed through, and because of that they still lag in the luxury world. They lag behind MB, BMW, Lexus, of course, but soon enough Acura, Infiniti, Audi will all have completed product infusions of great quality products like the RDX, MDX, new TSX [coming soon], new TL [coming next year]; G35, recent intro of M class, new FX SUV coming soon; Q7, new A4, and the highly acclaimed A6 and A8. Where does this leave Caddy? the new CTS and Escalade again? one hit wonders and we give up again? What about all the rest of the cars? When are they coming?
  9. evok, thank you for going through the spin. there are too many people here who live in a GM dream world where everything is and always has been rosy. They don't get that if GM doesn't start churning out the right kind of product, in a few years this site will be for the remembrance of thier favorite company instead of one that does actually exist. Being a consumer driven company they have to listen to what the customer is saying......they have lost too many customers across the nation to imports.......and have never understood the real reason why. That customer was and is trying to say something by making that distinct choice "never to buy American again". It's not because they're ignorant, or dumb, or blind, or biased, or dispassionate, or favor appliances, or on a whip from thier wife, or unpatrotic, or black, or Asian, or Mexican. GM's failure all these years is because no one sat there and did the hard work-------what we have tried to give them: the real picture just like it is, instead of painting it rosy and believing high sales in the middle states was all they could cling on to forever.
  10. base CTS buyers cross shopping similarly priced GM sedans. makes sense to me.
  11. on what subjective basis is the malibu worse looking than the altima. keeping in mind that subjective means your whole plastics argument is thrown out the window, because since you've only recognized a commonality in a few parts, you do not know or have any idea what the rest of the interior's plastics will be like
  12. okay, so look who feels stupid for starting this comparison in the first place. [me] it's really not one that is necessary. what i feel, first, may be different from what others here feel. the sales show the s-class is a winner, for its class, and even against the sts. the sts, unfortunately does not even live up to its cheaper lower scale brother, how is it going to stand a chance to the s-class. i stand by my view that the s-class is perfect design. sts has the design excitement quotient of a camry to me, and that is an insult to sts and a compliment to camry.
  13. I also have to say GM must offer NAV in these cars to complete the upscale image. Of the interior on the last page, only the Passat, Jetta, and Accord rank higher in my eyes, and that is saying a LOT. I love those designs, and the Accord is only a little better. I like the Malibu at least as much as I like the Camry, in photos.... GM seems to get it now when it comes to interior design. That is a big thorn on thiers and our sides, which is great to see it come out. I hope the Malibu does stay true to this, and that the less adorned versions come out looking nice too.
  14. wow way to ruin a mostly positive feeling and help me point out some of the things that keep popping up that I just don't like. (1) door panels- why can't GM learn to break up the monotony with a nice leather insert, something to break up the mostly flat look except for at the top. (2) the armrests- they truly do look unsubstantial. (3) corporate switchgear/parts- this is more of a nitpick because I think what is present looks very good, but I do wish GM would give standard radios for the brands, take up the same amount of space but use different heads..., same with the corporate steering wheel. you need a sports car wheel, a sports lux sedan wheel, a lux sedan wheel, and a Cadillac lower class and Cadillac upper class....this is where you need to spend the money GM. these little bits truly matter. What is underneath, well as long as we can percieve a difference and it meets or beats the competition, we are okay, but what we can see and feel needs to be different....to truly appeal to different crowds and to truly seperate the cars as different products for different tastes. (4) unattractive gear shift knob- this is the late 2000's GM, get with the program. we are discerning, and everything counts. (5) American retro design- it is fine for Chevy, but I hope instead of always pulling in for design cues of the past, let's start using some Euro cues. The red and black are freaking great, as is the use of chrome, I hope none of this changes for production, and I hope the two years of development over Aura have allowed these nice materials to be used in real cars rather than just preproduction cars. These are very short nitpicks/constructive criticism, and overall I think GM may have a homerun in the form of this design. Overall, it's not really my kind of bag, I'm more of a Passat or Accord guy from up above, but it is very well done and actually does look appealing and modern without going too far into the past. I think it has a strong C5 feel, which I am not all for as I think it goes too far in copying that, and the above complaints register, but I really would be happy living with this interior, however it's mostly because the center stack is striking in its current form. If anything changes, anything at all, I will be most displeased. overall, I give the interior an 8, with the Accord and Passat higher, but also more expensive. It does trouble me that the new Accord will debut at the same time.
  15. as much as i like the v....it is boring compared to that s-class, for me. in person there is no competition...
  16. Sounds great. I too have concern that they are showing this too early, but hopefully they may be planning to surprise us all and release it early. A removable top is a must, I think, even just a removable hard top like feature. Off-roading without a top is an experience that can't be replecated, and certainly instrumental in the success of Wrangler.
  17. that would be great. thegriffon said "there's another minivan....aside from the Chevy fullsize van." I hope this means there is a small fuel efficient van coming, something like the Mazda 5, which I happen to think is a great package. It can be made even better looking and with better engine choices, and crack a segment that is waiting to explode in the U.S. especially when gas prices rise again.
  18. hmmm seems like a mountain out of a molehill....he said "we are open to alliances", which could mean everything from an engine alliance to a merger, except a merger is always a merger. doesn't seem like too big of a deal. and what a stupid question to ask, are you gonna merge with ford?, ya, are you gonna commit business suicide mr. lutz?
  19. along with the CLS, 3-series, XJR........S-class is one of the most perfectly designed and exhilirating sedans on the road today. It's not brand snobbery razor....the imports just get it right.
  20. excellent news
  21. three rows of seating, a quality interior, available manual tranny, and attractive sheetmetal all contribute to this car's good attributes. chevy has enough SUVs, though a three row crossover seems imminent for us.
  22. Product will dictate pricing. Just like the new Altima starts at 18k versus the old one that started around 16k and was being given away for like 13k......new and improved product that appeals to new people will be able to command more money. It's the simple rule of supply and demand. If Pontiac and Chevy and Buick are able to successfully make product that appeals to people outside of thier current markets......meaning in the more upscale markets.....and that is the big IF, then they deserve to price them that way too. Pontiac's G8, if it comes here, and if it's the Holden Commodore SS-V or whatever, should probably stand around 35k and no less or no more. It being a smaller car than the Impala, and a fully loaded one no less, would give room for Impala to breathe. Lucerne pricing should reflect that car's content and quality as well as Buick's current and future positioning in the ladder of the car world.
  23. I would not accuse you of being a geezer for liking the Enclave, it's one of the best GM products in years.
  24. answer to a question no one is asking i fear....but i can see what ven said as being accurate, this car will test the waters for pricier Caddy sedans.
  25. Pontiac going RWD is discussed in another thread: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...opic=13319&st=0 There probably is some truth to this rumor of G6 going RWD.
