  1. *grins* I love looking at old pictures like this!!! He he he. 2. Absolutely correct. No arguments here. However: I manage my money quite well, I believe. I don't live extravagantly and I keep a tight budget. Those who have seen my "budget paper" (where I keep "funds" within my checking account for "Medical", "Car Insurance", "Credit Union Savings", "Licence Plate Renewals", "Storage", "Phone/Email", "Church", "Necessities") are shocked at how detailed I am ... and that I take the time to actually "disperse" each paycheck into each of these "funds". Even so, I'm still living at home. Partly because I can't afford to move out (was on track to do so a year ago, until I was layed off and had to take a $3K per year paycut going into my new job) ... and partly because, due to my health issues, it's better to be living with someone. And, as far as I'm concerned, I'm not lazy by any means. While I consider myself financially responsible, most people think that I'm not ... since I'm still at home...and own 5 cars. Yet, those same people are ones that have a luxury car, for which they pay more on insurance in a year than I do on my 5 MCs combined, AND are married, complete with 2 incomes to my one. Course, those same people don't stop to consider the effect of the medical costs I incur due to my heart issues and my recent abdominal issues. Those certainly take a huge chunk out of my monthly budget ... and I have no control over that. If I did, I'd be much happier . *shrugs* It's all about perception. 3. *snaps finger* Dangumit ... wish that Heritage Center WAS open to the public...sure would be neat to see. But, dangum, if they have all of these older cars in their collection, why do they always send the FWD "monte carlos" to the MC Nationals? Or, do they not care about the RWD Monte Carlos anymore? Grrr..... 5. As far as I know, this is the first report of a police department making the decision to go with the Charger for the newest police cars.... Interesting ... very interesting . 7. Glad I'm not the only one with that thought here. I mean ... geez. The guy drives a vehicle through a dealership window, sets it ablaze, and walks away? It's not like people didn't know who did it. And, he somehow gets on a plane (presumably) to Washington DC before the police can catch up to him and arrest him? And, then he gets on a plane in DC, bound for LA, only to kill himself so the plane had to land in Denver? *shakes head* Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ Models.HO = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/trainroom.html "Everybody wants love to be easy" ... 8. Aye. Chevy has the concept Camaro flanked by the '06 impala and '06 monte carlo. *shakes head* Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ What's it like to buy your favorite car brand new? 9. ...hmph...and now I may not get the chance to this year either . ARG. Why? Well, because, along with the news that my department has been sold, I found out that, due to my abdominal pains & not being at work much, I may not be granted many (if any) vacation days this year.... *sighs* This means that I have more reasons to just leave this call center job ... we'll see.... And, ironically, I wrote it in the original post: "It's frustrating that one's available time (namely vacation) will not support the hopes/plans for vacations and road trips." Guess we'll see . I AM still planning to go on these trips ... and meeting up with a number of you, hopefully, but now, it depends on what happens, I guess.... Maybe my not being very "organized" this year was foreshadowing this...he heh.
  10. Given the news announced today that my department has been sold, I decided to bring this thread up again ... in case anyone missed it and might be interested in joining a "networking" group....
  11. Wow ... thanks, Josh! Heh...after a day like today, that was a very nice compliment to read . Sure hope we're able to meet up sometime this year. Heh...GM1, I'd forgotten Dinah Shore sings that song ... he he he.
  12. *chuckles* Black and Blue, I just took a moment to look up your home town on the map ... I drove right past your place on the Turnpike headed for NJ in August 2005 ... too bad I didn't meet up with you, Camino, ocn, etc. "back then" ... he he he.
  13. *nods* Yeah, I have ... and found it quite ironic that this happened _about_ the same time Chevrolet had decided to use round taillights on all their cars ... to distinguish themselves and, more or less, "imitate" the Corvette...heh. Irony rocks . 14. Sounds like a good day to me, bud . Glad you finally received your poster ... and glad that you like it as well! 15. Black and Blue ... don't know yet if I'm meeting up with either of them ... neither of 'em have said anything.... Sure would be nice to meet up with you, BV, ocn, Camino, Oldsmoboi, etc., there in PA.... I'll be in the Pittsburgh area the weekend in August, while I'll be in Delaware, and thus, eastern PA, the weekend in July.... Let's see what we can get planned!!!
  16. *chuckles* Even with the Steelers in it (Dad's team), I didn't see many of the commercials ... kept forgetting to watch ... lol. Go figure . Sadly, I also missed some of the game . The ones I DID see ... were rather humorous ... such as the "magic refrigerator", the streaking sheep, the defibulator, etc.... 17. *nods* Yep ... I was countin' on that . And...I'm HOPING some of those I missed on the east coast last year (Sixty8, bv, ocn, etc. etc. etc.........) might want to meet up this year....
  18. Whichever way is best for you balthazar ... course, I'd suggest taking wildmanjoe up on his offer .
  19. Seems like a number of people are interested in getting together, so this is a brief update with more details of my 2006 trips, which are not as long as my major road trips the last couple years (October 2004, west via MO-KS-CO-WY-UT-NM-OK-TX-AR; August 2005, east via TN-AL-GA-SC-NC-VA-PA-NJ-MD-WV-OH-MI-IN). If you are in any of the areas and/or along my way and want to meet up ... let me know! And, of course, if you ever come through northern IL, let me know! June 22-26 ... IL-KY-IN-TN Thursday ... drive to Nashville TN for the MC Nationals, Friday-Sunday (route TBD). Sunday ... go to Big Sandy TN for lunch; Jackson TN for dinner (or vice versa). Monday ... drive home. July 14-17 ... IN-OH-MD-NJ-DE Thursday ... in the evening, get a "jump start" to DE for Monte MadneSS, Friday-Sunday. Sunday ... get a head start on going home, arriving home on Monday. Not sure which route I'll take (northern, via turnpike; southern, via I-70), but most-likely will make a stop in the Baltimore MD area going and/or coming. August 11-14 ... IN-OH-PA-MI Thursday ... drive to IN (near Ft Wayne). Friday ... drive to OH (near Akron), possibly taking Route 30. Saturday ... drive to PA for the family reunion that afternoon. Sunday ... drive to MI for a late dinner. Monday ... drive home. October 11-17 ... TX-OK-KS/MO-IA-WI This'll be the "road trip" (mini, as it is) for 2006... Tuesday evening ... drive as far south as possible (either via I-57, I-55 or I-39 to I-55). Wednesday ... drive to Dallas TX, via Little Rock AR. Thursday ... stay in Dallas area Friday ... drive up to the Oklahoma City area. Saturday ... drive to Wichita KS. Sunday ... via Kansas City, drive to IA (Des Moines area, perhaps). Monday ... drive to southern WI. Tuesday ... drive home. 20. Looks like a couple handfuls of people from several different forums are interested in "networking" ... so, if you are serious about it ... or even only considering the possibilities, send me an Email (faithcubs_montecarlo5 @ juno.com) or PM ... and we'll go from there! 22. SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome news, balthazar! And, I echo HE's sentiments about keeping us posted. You have a website that you can post updates so we can keep a watch on it? Just curious.... *nods* I'll agree with that, having been in that "down" area a bit too many times myself, only to be "lectured" by my best friend. YET....those "lectures" were exactly what I needed, if that makes any sense. *shrugs* To those who are down currently (including myself), it WILL get better. I busied myself today by moving some things around in my room ... on a couple of desks ... just to give it a "new" look. Problem now is, I have a "bug" to move things in the entire room ... and I don't have the time for that . Irony rocks . 24. Eeeegads that pic "hurts my eyes" ... it's a Chevrolet Malibu going headlong into water ... arg. Heh. I've never understood why people think they can drive through "puddles" of water ... and get by without anything happening. Then, of course, they look shocked that they got stuck and flooded. *rolls eyes* Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ Models.HO = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/trainroom.html "My time here is over" ...
