  1. *raises eyebrow slightly* Yes, that is pretty darn good. But, how often do you do 0-60 in normal driving?
  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And, of course, HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Hope ya'll have a wonderful day! 3. Ah...I see what you mean. Hmm....in that case, I'm all for a different painting texture/scheme!
  4. NOS, Let me know if you'd like me to "put the word out" to other forums, etc., about this group discount ... the more we have the better, it seems....
  5. Any particular reason why? Just curious...not trying to be "argumentative" ... it's just, well, the non-metallic colors, to me, just seem so "bland" these days.... Course, on the other hand, scratches aren't as noticeable...he he he.
  6. *chuckles* You aren't the only one.... A few people I stopped to see on both of my road trips....leave keys in the ignition all the time. Me, on the other hand...I'm not only taking the keys with me, but I'm quickly locking the door as I open it, to be sure it is locked when I go to close it...he he he. The year between my senior year of HS and my first year of college, I worked for the local school district's summer maintance department. On that crew was a guy that, at the time, lived a block from where my grandparents lived...and, of course, drove a Monte Carlo ... red, 1977 model. Well, one day, I got to his house to go to work (I walked there and rode with him to the job site) and he was just getting up. He yelled out the window, "Take my car and get to work." I asked him for his keys...his response: "I always leave 'em in the car." I was stunned...this is NOT a small town ... and thefts occur regularly.... But, he said he had done that all his life....

  9. The "narrow bead" of chrome that you write about ... are you thinking what is reminscent of the 4th gens where the back windows have chrome surrounded by the black rubber? I do like that lazer blue color ... but, I much prefer the orangish color that is featured on the Cobalt...he he he.
  10. LA, Very sorry :(..... As for my experiences.... Will never forget when we were out east as a family ... walked back to our family car (what is now my '81 MC SC) ... only to discover deep scratch marks on the driver's side door right next to the keywhole. Realized then that we probably thwarted someone stealing it by coming back to the car when we did. As for my cars ... my former '88 MC LS was broken into while I was trying to sell it. And that came less than a week after it suffered a hit'n'run ... with damage to the front end. My former '97 malibu was broken into ... person was obviously trying to steal the radio as the dash board around the radio was "peeled back". My former '00 mc LS was hit'n'run in Nashville TN at the HardRock Cafe.... *sighs* Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ Models.HO = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/trainroom.html "How much can you take?" ... 12. *shakes head slowly* Say it isn't so..... ;) 1 word for ya: tacky But, that's just my humble opinion...heh. As for vinyl roofs, I've never understood the public's fascination with these. I know that, in terms of factory production, vinyl tops were a way to "hide" the imperfections in the roof line of the cars. Still...they cause sssooo much more trouble. I know. 3 of my 5 MCs have vinyl roofs ... and I hate 'em. When I get enough money, those vinyl tops will be coming off....but, that probably won't be for another 100 years at this rate...he he he. 13. Amen! I think driving has become a chore to most because of the amount of traffic ... and the frustrations associated with "fighting" traffic. I know I avoid cities/major thoroughfares like the plague because I hate "fighting" traffic. Instead, whenever I get my older 4 MCs out, I head for the "backroads" and get some FUN driving in ... sure, the cars aren't seen by a lot of people this way, but at least I'm having some fun driving...and not sitting in traffic waiting for the traffic light to change or "cursing" at the driver that just about cut me off ... or worse yet, getting hit by one of those drivers....heh. 14. *chuckles* Here, I thought I was the only one that was like this...he he he. I used to LOVE winter ... making snow slides, snowball "fights", hot chocolate after an evening of snow shoveling, doing my best to clear off my parents' car after a snowfall, etc. Now, I only like winter/snow when it snows on Christmas Eve...and stays white through New Years's Day. Other than that week, I'll take 60s and higher, thank you..... *sighs* Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ Models.HO = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/trainroom.html "Why can't that be me?" ... 3 Doors Down ... Hmmm...and those of you in PA and NJ (especially in the Philadelphia area) that I missed in August...very sorry I missed ya...tho, it's not like I didn't give ya'll fair advanced notice ;). 17. Hmmm.... I've seen 2 reviews this week ... 1 for the '06 impala and this one for the '06 monte carlo ... and both reviewers seem to take pleasure in making jabs at the older Impalas and Monte Carlos ... not exactly a way to win over readers, imho. And the '06 mc reviewer ... is an equal-opportunity jabber, taking shots at both the older RWD Monte Carlos ... and even the recent FWD SS monte carlos: Hmph. Are the journalists starting to give GM a break now ... or? I mean...this makes 2 good review in a row this week ... first the '06 impala and now the '06 monte carlo. At any rate, this is definitely a good review ... no question. But, I'm still waiting for the return of the Monte Carlo (RWD, that is). 20. I'm certainly not deifying them ... or anything, for that matter. That'd be my evil twin ... the same one that, for whatever reason, bought a FWD "monte carlo"..... Again, not saying that either ... just simply making the observation. I do agree that the format for both versions was "appropriate for the times" ... just too bad that they didn't leave it named the Lumina. Agreed ... to a point. Unimportant, that is, until someone pipes up with "the Charger won't handle well in snow because it is RWD" ... then the current impala gets the nod because it is FWD. Hmm..... Agreed yet again. If you read any of my recent posts, you'll know that I'm actually considering an '06 impala (no, my evil twin is not returning) ... and was rather impressed with the one I test drove a number of weeks ago now. Course, I'm also considering an '06 Charger......
  21. *raises eyebrow in defiance* Wait just a pea-pickin' minute here. Edmunds has a history of writing bad reviews on GM vehicles and now, in the midst of an admittedly good review for the '06 impala, the writer turns the seemingly usual "dissing" onto Chevrolet enthusiasts, who prefer Impalas (as in RWD) instead...? Some nerve.... I agree what is important is how the new impala stacks up to the likes of the Accord and Camry ... but, how on earth can you compare a RWD Charger to a FWD impala? Yeah yeah yeah, I know it is done because of the size of the car. Still, with the "great debate" about RWD vs FWD I find it mildly ironic that people don't see an issue with comparing a RWD to a FWD vehicle..... Ah, well. What I think doesn't matter anyway. 23. Sadly, the stupidity goes both ways. While I was at a mall in Birmingham AL waiting for some friends to arrive and meet me for dinner, I had the misfortune of standing outside on the sidewalk next to the entrances of one of the stores ... only to watch as a man driving a relatively new Mercedez Benz hit the driver's side back quarter area of a white, 90s Geo SUV. The crash was unmistakable in sound. And, the fact that I saw it happen ... in slow motion, nonetheless, added to the surrealness. But, then, the guy backed out of the spot, went around to the other side and parked a few spaces down the lot. He and his wife then meandered back toward the mall ... stopping to look at the SUV. THEN...he came up to ME...knowing full well I had witnessed the accident ... and said something like, "I have more damage than he does". I literally rolled my eyes at him and said, "Shouldn't you be telling them this?". He shrugged his shoulders and said, "They'll never know". I told him that his between him and the owner of the SUV. Of course, he had no way of knowing I wasn't from the area...he he he. He and his wife then stood there for quite a while...and were still there when my friends finally arrived. As we left the parking lot, I saw the couple enter the mall. I can just about guarantee the owner of the SUV wasn't told..... *shakes head* Cort, "Mr MC" / "Mr Road Trip", 32swm/pig valve/pacemaker MC:family.IL.guide.future = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/ Models.HO = http://www.chevyasylum.com/cort/trainroom.html "Hood slidin' like Bo Duke"...Dierks Bently...'What Was I Thinking?'
  24. *nods* As I've heard said about sporting events, "that's why we play the game" ... to show whether or not the "on paper" results actually indicate what the "real world" will be.... I agree...it IS possible, but I don't know ... seems a bit of a stretch to me.... *shrugs* But, then again, what the helk do I know? He he he
