Hey guys (and our ladies, too!), I am writing to inform you of an event we have at Kettering University every spring term. This event is our annual Relay for Life walk. For those unfamiliar with Relay for Life, it is a twenty-four hour cancer walk that is done all across the United States throughout the year to raise awareness and charitable donations to benefit cancer patients. All funds raised go to the American Cancer Society to help try to find a cure, and every dollar counts when it involves such a terrible disease.
Please visit the Relay for Life organization site for more information: http://www.relayforlife.org/relay/
So, at Kettering, we try to do exactly what Relay for Life asks of the American society and fight back for something many of us believe strongly in: saving the lives of cancer patients. At Kettering’s 2007 Relay for Life event, all contributions totaled approximately $25,000. My fraternity, Delta Tau Delta, formed a team for the event and was the leading contributor to this large amount, earning around $2600. Not only that, but we also won an award for having the Most Team Spirit by having the largest amount of people participating and walking all through the night.
That being said, I'd like to make a mention of it to you guys. I know many of you have soft hearts and have a link to this terrible disease either within yourself, your family, or your friend. I'm trying to help out as much as possible. I really don't have too much of a background with cancer, though I believe my grandma had cancer when I was little and a few relatives that I had never met (great grandparents, etc.) died of the same, but I feel it's a great cause.
If you personally, or someone you know, would like to help out, I would like to help you help us. If you'd like to help, PM me and I will get back to you with our team site and inform you of how to donate.
Thank you,
Frank Budzyn
