Alternative Fuels & Propulsion RANDOM
balthazar replied to G. David Felt's topic in Electric Vehicles and Alternative Fuels
I question whether Fiskar can survive financially at that price tier, but if buyers bite, this potentially strong-arms all other EV CUVs in pricing. -
They have like identical greenhouses, except one is from 2020 and one is from like 1999. I really did like the concept Mission E's looks, and although this is close- the Taycan just lost the details. What's with the different offset wheels front to back? It's just dated, already. If frickin Porsche can't built their concept cars exactly as is, no one can.

[aaaaaaaaaaaand; we're off on another conversational irrelevancy.] -
I think 'Butterbean' would be a sportier name. Or maybe 'Garbonzo'. And while I like those beans, I do not like that color Ford.

Nope; they're all tied... for last place.

• I forget about DEF; I have a pre-DEF Duramax. I agree that the difference would be minor, numbers-wise. • I used $3/gal of diesel in my example but I've been paying roughly between 2.75 and 2.90 for I think at least a year (would have to check my log). Gasbuddy says my regular-use station is 2.59 for regular (credit) and 2.93 for diesel today. But I was comparing a 3.0L DM to my 6.6L DM, not against gas. Right now, I'm building my case to replace my truck, and am intrigued at the 3.0L. I do like the longevity of a diesel. ? Kinda seems counter-productive to replace my truck with one that gets the same MPG if there are other options, but your point numbers-wise is totally valid. ?

Navigator starts 10 grand higher in price, and I'd guess runs a much wider price range. The 2 are about 1000 units apart thru September this year (QX higher).

See; it's all in your mindset/approach. You view these as 'the same but well differentiated', whereas I feel they are 2 different vehicles that share some mechanicals. It's not that Ford 'hid something'; they developed 2 vehicles that are completely 'interface'-unique, yet share some mechanicals. In other words- the Lincoln is NOT a 'changed Ford' - that's not how these vehicles are developed. -

Ahh; but you implied they were the same vehicle. Aviator interior / Explorer interior - not seeing anything carried over : '20 mercedes GLE competes directly with the Lincoln Aviator (MSRP base - L: $51.1K, MB: $53.7K). But the merceds is down on HP (L: 400-494, MB: 362-480), has a shorter wheelbase & less leg room, has 1 less gear, and frankly it just seems dated; like daimler has been using the same recipe for a decade & a half now. Aviator is extremely fresh and you can see the effort Lincoln put into it just from a quick walk-around. -

How do the glc/gle/gls do vs the Ford and Lincolnz combined? ? -

Just like mercedes does a good job of dressing up the e-class into their s-class, right? -

Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura & Lexus provide their customers products they want. Products they potentially chose over BMW or MB's hundreds of 'same sausage' CUVs. Why haven't the Germans triplets put all these other brands out of business years ago?? And what you said above about infiniti is the same thing you said about Lincoln like 2-3 years ago. -

^ Can't argue against Ram or Dodge, too. -
Man, has progress been lacking. What else is new. - - - - - The B-59 has an upward-projecting rear license light. The lense is available repro, but the die cast unit is not and I've never seen a really nice one / NOS for sale. My car's rear bumper has a fist-sized dent near the outer corner, but apparently there was a lot of twist involved, because my license light housing is also quite twisted (in addition to all the pitting). I don't want to put like $250-350 into this, so going to cobble something. Here's the results so far on that. First: the stock piece : Here's my shot piece, and a new aluminum plate with a 1-W LED and 2 decorative retaining fasteners. I want to polish the aluminum so it looks more like chrome, and fashion some sort of little 'hood' for the lens so you don't see the light itself driving behind it. I hope that 1W isn't too bright, but it's a simple procedure to add resistors to dim it further. I want the glow of a campfire from 3 miles out on my plate. Comparison pic from online, but you can never tell until you see it in person :

Umm... I meant 110,000 miles/year. No - you're correct; I was way off. ? • 11,000 / 16 MPG = 687 gals/yr. • 11,000 / 24 MPG = 458 gals/yr. difference of 229 gal @ $3/gal is $687. $3980 (price of 3.0L DM) / $687 is 5.7 years. That's still a pretty damned good metric for me (considering this truck I've had for 13 years and the prior one for 12).

My 6.6L Duramax 2500HD / 5-spd gets 15.5-16 MPG. Best it's ever gotten on an 80% tank of highway driving was about 18.2. The '20 Silverado 3.0L Duramax / 10-spd is rated at 23 city / 29 highway (4WD). For me and my rambling, it's probably be 24-24.5 MPG. 3.0L Duramax is $3890 (10-spd is no charge). 24-16= 8 MPG better. On 11,000 miles/yr, that's 1375 less gallons, at $3/gal, a yearly savings of $4,125. 3.0L Duramax would pay itself off in less than 12 months.

Well, seems ‘stupid is as CR does’; does that then mean that the audi is the MOST reliable OR are these the only cars they evaluated? Does that mean the scale isn’t ‘0-100’ but ‘34-65’?? Is a score of 65 “very good” or even the best? What about the other 345 vehicles not on the list? CR = wackadoodle.

Confused; you mean on a list of the most likely to break down, #34 is the most likely?

Audi News: Audi Sport's Electrification Plans Coming into Focus
balthazar replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Audi
When you so blatantly & grotesquely gouge your customers, of course it's going to utterly fail. So will the next one, despite it seeming like a 'bargain' with -say- 500 HP and a tag of -say- $350K. Duh.
