  1. This will not occur in any of our lifetimes, Dave. In fact, I predict it won't even get to 50% EV usage in our lifetimes.
  2. Not my pics, but I did see these exact cars today~ in addition to a '63 Impala 409 coupe, '65 Bonneville convert, '59 Merc Park Lane convert, '59 Olds 88 2-dr hardtop, '59 Olds 98 convert, '59 Bonneville 2-dr hardtop - all incredible survivors or nut & bolt restorations in one guy's collection. Fun day.
  3. ^ And the Grand Am.
  4. I took a nap earlier, and now it's 2:20AM and I'm still twirling. Not that that's a problem; I frequently twirl in the wee hours without a nap.
  5. ^ Sometimes I have no idea what channel you're on, Reg.
  6. Thusly; Tesla doesn't have that strategy. OEMs cannot wait until someone orders a car to build ALL their cars; some folks need cars immediately, some don't care enough to order, and the production schedule must be moderated at the factories. Cars are not cups of coffee.
  7. Restored to perfection Model T touring car, 4 aboard, motoring along between the traffic lane & the shoulder on a busy 2-lane during rush hour. I think the Model T can only go about 30 MPH.
  8. You can easily see how cheaply built that RamSedan is - that one's not going to gain any traction whatsoever.
  9. Could've done a LOT more to make it attractive.
  10. 'went' on. I don't see it worthy of litigation. No one involved then is still alive, either.
  11. Our '77 Safari was a very good car for us. I think when sold it had about 135K on it. I used it over 1 winter, I guess it was '93-94 because I bought my '94 F-150 in June that year. So; right at the end of its service with us. Only thing I remember was once the carb had to be rebuilt but other than that, it just kept on ticking away. That was a really good-sized wagon; went to upstate NY every summer, to Detroit twice, to Florida once or twice, to VT at least once. It was just slow. Ask Drew; he likely has about the same lbs/hp in the Toro. The one time we went to Florida/Disney, Dad got me & my sister & brother up at like 6AM, folded the back seat down and put us in sleeping bags until we woke up somewhere down the road an hour or 2 later, then stopped for breakfast. Great (unbuckled) times!
  12. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2086663/Hitler-copied-idea-iconic-Volkswagen-Beetle-Jewish-engineer-historian-claims.html
  13. My father had a 301 CI '77 Safari up until '95. You didn't missing anything by not have been in one yet. 135 HP made for some very relaxed motoring.
  14. PMD sold far more GPs in '76-78 (228K each year) by far than any other year '62-80. That edition sold like crazy.
  15. ^ velour = blorf. - - - - - Early ('61-62 I would guess) Lincoln Continental suicide door convert. Med blue, presentable outside, Walmart hubcaps, worn interior. Licensed, in buddy's shop for some sort of work.
  16. '69-70 GPs were either the 400 CI LJ or the 428 ('69) or 455 ('70) SJ. I also don't believe the 350 was available in '69-70, would have to look that up. - - - - - Spotted this year in CA.
  17. • Put the dang blasted center link on loosely, so the car can be rolled outside with the front tires connected. Aired up the fronts and rolled the car about 6-inches, just to have it break it's 'gravity lock' with the same spot it's been sitting in for over a decade. • Met up with an audiophile friend of mine who gave me sound system advise going forward- I need to cut holes in the package shelf for the rear speakers. Have a set of 4 Polk Audio speakers on order. Also going to fabricate a divider board between the trunk & back seat, which will also get sound deadening. • Stripped & refurbished both rear armrests, including patching over the hacked speaker holes there. Ready for re-upholstery.
  18. Before automotive fluids were specifically colored, taste testing was required to identify which fluids were spilled in accidents.
