  1. Heh- that's what Mercedes needs!
  2. And it won't be priced like a Bolt when it comes out- the 2017 is 10 grand higher already. It starts in price where the Model 3 is supposed to 'end' as they're (going) to be built. Next gen will be another $5K more at least. It's problem is it's horribly overpriced for 11 miles of EV- why bother? It's half-assed, that's about the worst EV range of any car available! MB is shooting itself in the EV foot.
  3. ^ And those millions of people just avoid used German cars. ;P A three yr old off-lease car is still brand new (provided it doesn't have 90K miles on it).
  4. Brand new vehicles, whether bought or leased, make no financial sense whatsoever. Sure BFN is nice... but it's not worth the money spent/lost- regardless of brand or model. Unless of course, money is of no object.
  5. Mercedes only found 49 buyers for it last month. Didn't sell a single unit in June, only 3 in April. It's completely dead in the water. Shouldn't this be "selling 10,000 per month"?? Perhaps if mercedes gave it better styling....
  6. Interesting to learn how the credit works. • It's a literal credit on your federal taxes for the year you bought the eligible car. If you buy a Bolt in '17 (eligible for $7500) but you only owe $2500 in federal tax, instead you pay $0 and the other $5000 goes poof! • If you lease, the credit goes to the lease company, not you.
  7. K... I've never read up on the guy- interesting.
  8. Not all announced future cars are "vaporware". The F5 is not that big of a jump over the 1450-HP GT, so it's not like the company (in business since 1991) has no experience at these levels.
  9. Bolt's sales rate has nothing to so with it's styling; the buyers are buying an EV. There are a bunch of PHEV sedans out there to chose from, some might well argue they generally 'look better', but no one is REMOTELY close to moving 10K per month. MB can't GIVE theirs away. And even Tesla can't move 4000 Model S's/mn. It's not the Bolt's styling (which is fine). PHEVs are in another demographic segment altogether.
  10. This car outperforms all of the 37 AMG models except just one. Too bad the company that builds it 'doesn't push performance'.
  11. Thanks for tracking that down! I didn't remember the hideous fender flares. Going to have to find a copy of that article. Wonder what happened to that car?
  12. ^ Oh yes- I remember that article. Builder had a power rear license plate; throw a switch, it rotated down, exposing a million candlepower aircraft light (or the like)- for tailgaters. Not that there would be- the car had outrageous power. I think you pegged the approximate date- right about mid '80s. Has got to be somewhere online...
  13. Bolt moves up into the #2 sales spot for the year to date. Looks like the Model 3 so-called 'bottlenecks' also torpedo'd the Model S & X. I thought their big jumps for September were fishy. Musk has finally backed the '5000 Model 3's per week by December'... all the way back to the end of Q1 2018. We'll see.
  14. Popping out at SEMA, Henneessey doubles down on building the quickest & fastest car in the world. Bugatti; take heed. 7.4TT V8, 1600 HP / 1300 TRQ, 2950 lbs. 0-186 in less than 10 seconds, 0-250-0 in less than 30. Top speed : 301. For reference, the previous Venom GT already eclipsed Bugatti back in 2014, having been clocked at 270.49 MPH. Bugatti is said to still be working on it's response. Now it needs an upgraded response. Perhaps they might start off by building a supercar that doesn't weigh 5000 lbs. Slated production is 24 units, at $1.6 million per for the 'base' car.
  15. At the same time, not sure what you're getting (tangible) that's 'worth' $24K to start. It's a very basic vehicle.
  16. The modern automatic transmission came out for 1940. It wasn't until 1955 that the last domestic brand (Plymouth) offered one (and that was mid-year). It was going to be 'the end of the clutch pedal'. 80 years later... still creeping up on that prediction.
  17. But if GM puts the Cadillac 2.0T in the Silverado, you might go into cardiac arrest proclaiming that 'Cadillac is using a Chevy engine!!' You don't want to experience cardiac arrest, do you? This is not something you should be advocating for.
  18. I think they regularly get well over that. Looked at a off-lease Wrangler last wknd- $28K. I've only ridden in one, I disliked it soundly. But it's got amazing market perseverance.
  19. For some (product-based) reason, I always think a Wrangler should start around $16K... instead of $24K (2017).
  20. If Chevrolet instills the recent weight loss tech Cadillac has been bringing to market, a V6TT would do fine in a 1500. Still not the end of ICE- that'll take decades upon decades. Upon decades.
  21. This with a CTS-V powertrain/suspension.
  22. Here's one (too new 4 me) but nicely done:
  23. Chevy is probably waiting until closer to MY 2070 to do that.
