    Not that very many are looking for plug-in cars, but it does sound 'good'. But the 3 in the above album is beyond dated, it looks like the last days of the W-body Impala; a decade past being aesthetically relevant. Good thing badge shoppers are willing to accept 'good enough'.

    I defer to your source; the '33 Cadillac Aerodynamic COupe certainly preceded the source I was looking at that said '39 Mercury.     If you are keeping the 6 beyond 5.5 years, the only thing that makes financial sense is paying the lowest grand total possible. That said, auto loan interest is a strict minimal portion of a payment, so paying extra (assumedly toward the principal) isn't going to do anything near what doing the same on a mortgage will. Ask the lender for an amortization schedule for your loan and you can crunch the numbers yourself.

Also correct on 3.). That leaves 5.) as unconfirmed… for now. Talk it out amongst yourselves… on this one giving known years will likely pinpoint it.

    Why would anyone vote to kill brand that moves a half million units per year (ignoring the fallacy of 'Ram' "no longer" being a 'Dodge'). Especially for a mindset that only focuses on sales volume??

    No objective person could possibly overlook the 50 million recalled vehicles toyota has under-engineered/built in the last 10 years, and still call the brand "reliable". It's a complete farce.

    In this era, it was all tubes. These rims in particular have retaining rings- I think it would be impossible to get one of these to seal without a tube. Never heard of any law against tubes- certainly tube-intended tires are OK with them. I'm also unaware of any retro-active laws that have superseded those in place the year the vehicle was produced.

    3.) Chevrolet, Buick & Olds all produced both small & big block V8s in the 1960s. Buick's 215 was a SBB, tho there were others (unrelated) that decade: the 300, 340, and 350. Cadillac had but one engine in that decade, and Pontiac built V8s from 326 CI to 455 CI out of the same block. 4.) The first post-war U.S. car speedometer marked higher than 120 MPH was the '53 Corvette, at 140 MPH, so William nailed this one. FYI : there were units marked higher than 120 before WWII. 5.) The 3rd 'Body by" GM tag was 'Ionia Body' ID. Ionia Manufacturing built station wagon bodies for GM (Chevy & Pontiac) in the 40s and 50s. Those 2 Divisions went to all-steel station wagons in '49, leaving only a contract with Buick running thru 1953 (Buick's last real wood station wagon).

    No one buys Jags in the U.S. - they're a niche player that's just not competitive in the minds of consumers. They could bring out a 400 HP 4-cyl and it wouldn't make any difference.

    My grandfather had the Chieftan, I remember my sister & I going with my Gparents to the Jersey shore one summer- it's was cool to sleep in the pull-down bunk over the front seats & peer out the porthole windows up there.

    It's tough today to wrap one's mind around what just all of these vintage collectibles went for as straight-up used cars. Imagine 'hemming & hawing' over whether a '69 RR 4-spd was worth $1200 or not.

    I can't tell the MBs apart anymore. As soon as they took the nose off the CLA and put it on the s-class coupe, everything fell apart.

    Well… after reading whatever I can find on old tires, it seems the vast majority of tire blow-outs happen with radials. The rubber is supposedly not as 'pure' & when they begin to dry rot, the steel belts rust & cut thru the tire. The sidewalls are not as strong since the reinforcement belts aren't in the sidewalls but only along the tread. I can see the criss-crossed reinforcement belts on the inside of my tires, from bead to bead. If I didn't say this before, a few summers ago I cut a bad tire off a rim I wanted to keep, MANUALLY. Using a collection of cutters, saws, pry bars and a Sawz-All, it still took me about 1.5 hrs (IIRC) to get the tire cut all the way thru. I'll never tackle that job the same way again. Either way, I believe the mitigating factors (weight around 4000 lbs on 10 ply tires, bias ply construction and low-speed local operation (45 MPH max) minimizes my risk. If I were closer to it's original weight as a tanker truck (16000 lbs) it would be a much higher demand on the tires, also if I were running at 60 MPH they would develop a lot more heat than they will @ 40. Going to give them a whirl.
