  1. Went to a college orientation (for my son, not me). During his presentation on campus security, the head of that department showed his cashed check for his fall 1970 semester tuition at the school : $775. You should've heard the unsettled groan that went up from the crowd. Adjusted for inflation, that would equal $4,660 in 2014. The actual semester tuition at this same school now is $16,950.
  2. Volts x amps = Watts Amps x ohms = Volts I'm not going to type out the rest. K. What gauge wire should I use to run (3) 6V taillight & brake light bulbs on a 14' run?
  3. Well, that's likely a part-out, but I could get my hands on that cool I8. I won't do it, but I'm itching to cut a '50s car down into a mini-car. Cutting that Packard up wouldn't be in anyway a shame with it's only possible future being the crusher as it is.
  4. Geez Cort, goes to show how individual tastes can vary. I'd crush the GP if I could get either 2 of the other cars for free in exchange. - - - - - '68 Olds Cutlass S hardtop coupe, black over black, performance tires, tipped dual exhaust, real nice shape, rolling… but quiet as a mouse. Then noticed the 'Olds350' vanity plates. '68 AMC AMX, gold, minty, on a flatbed goin' for a ride.
  5. The mythical "central Jersey".
  6. I think it was an homage to the Packard Request, which had strong customer polling for. I first saw this car 25 years ago, unfortunately, it's been stored outside (I believe) the entire time.
  7. Just get it yesterday? Don't already have any pics? You sure you're a car guy?
  8. Let's have a pic of your car too. I generally agree with your theory RE rest-mod.

  11. R U worried someone is going to run a plate, or is it something else?
  12. Another outdoors pic from the year I bought it (2003) :
  13. 6.) This gentleman fell asleep in his Pontiac, and for some reason someone snapped a pic. Perhaps they were admiring his snappy attire, or…?
  14. Watts, ohms, volts, bah!
  15. LM was hardly a retail thing, nor was it pushed/promoted like undoubtedly the urus will be. SalesmanSean nailed it; Lambo has not a single business case reason to build it- they existed alone on sports cars for decades, now that they are part of a super conglomerate; why?
  16. Give these questions a try & see how much 'auto junk' knowledge you have packed in your 'brain shop'. 1.) What year was the final single-cylinder Cadillac built? 2.) The 2-seat version of the '62-63 Thunderbird was known as the ______________ 3.) In the relatively short span of 4 years, the American auto industry moved from 6-volt electrics to 12. Name 3 reasons why. 4.) Most people are aware of the 1960s emergence on the Federal level of automotive industry standards & mandates. Sealed beam headlights in automobiles were a mandate that pre-dated the Federal 'Thumb'; what year did all U.S. makes incorporate them? 5.) Pontiac sold 32,450 GTOs in it's first year of 1964. What was the proposed sales goal for that model prior to it's introduction? View full article

  18. Yes; because everyone who drives a 500+ HP lightweight coupe immediately asks "What year did this one-of-the-World's-most-powerful N/A, hand-built engines first appear?"
  19. Mind blown: daily driven (no historic plates, senior citizen driver) : 1959 Chrysler Saratoga 4-dr hardtop, turquoise with white halo roof, turquoise body, real solid except for a bash by the fin, pulling into local strip mall. Where this one has been hiding on me I have no idea.
  20. Some people chose to put fences in places not in their best interests. Try and tell them that, tho.
  21. Welcome. Have a '95 Taurus in the fleet here, a loaded wagon bought last fall with 70K on it. So far -after 9K miles- no complaints.
