  1. See, you want to argue, but you use completely fabricated 'facts'. Cadillac CTS-VSport already does what you are asking for; HP peak is about 5400 (Cadillac rates it at 5750), TRQ peak is 3500. VSport develops between 400-435 TRQ from 3000-5000 RPM. Try again.
  2. Hmmm… Confused by this pic. The Eldo in the pic looks to be a circa '78. Hamtramck's (partially in Detroit) first vehicle off the line was supposedly an '85 Eldorado. Hamtramck was the proposed replacement for both Clark Street & the Fleetwood plant, tho those stayed open a number of years past Hamtramck's opening. Clark Street's last Seville was July '79 (different gen E-body)… so what plant was this reputedly?
  3. Curious if anyone here has rebuilt a carburetor? I myself have done a 1bbl, a couple 2bbls, a Carter AFB & Holly 4bbl.
  4. Makin' lil' sketches….. ...makes for quick reassembly: Driver's rear brake assembly all buttoned up: Also did some reassembly on the carb… tho I am missing a few screws after leaving it sit out for, umm, what feels like 6 months. Some of it is straightforward, but other bits are leaving me searching for a decent exploded view. For a tiny 2bb, it sure has a lot of gaskets. Luckily I have a spare complete carb I bought at an estate auction for $4.
  5. Yes; because everyone goes car shopping with a tape measure. CT6 is 4" longer than the 740i. For all realistic purposes; that's the exact same size. You aren't saying there is a size class split between 200" and 204", are you?? Nobody cares. 2.0L is probably export only. I would expect to see the vast majority of CT6s with the 3.0TT. CT6, with its leading stats (weight, steering, suspension/handling/ performance) & tech, is likely to start between $65-70K, IMO. With the engineering you get, that's a bargain. I would guess U.S. sales will run about 3500/yr, which would be perfect.
  6. • End color is still under consideration, but I am partial to 'metal' colors: gold, silver, bronze. A million possibilities. • Entire power train has been upgraded. Original 401 came out, that's a Buick 455 with aluminum Stage 2 heads. Aiming for 550 HP. • That is an original front rim, tho it will go. I have aftermarket rear rims on it obviously, tho I am going to change them to another design. Yes; all 4 will match. • I have the original interior (seats/ panels) but those will get redone in a period but non-original material/pattern. Original seat frames will be used; no buckets/console here. Some of the most amazing patterns came out in U.S. cars '56-58, IMO- will look into maybe getting some of that.
  7. ^ Agreed; it is not a bad thing since that's exactly where the rest of the segment is; classy, staid, inoffensive and not quite interesting. Actually, I find the CT6 a bit more interesting, stylistically, than the others, as they (especially in comparison) look dated & a bit worn. Looking forward to more info/pics.
  8. Again with the report from the accountant's office??
  9. CT6, like the ATS & CTS, is going to drive circles around the others in its class. While BMW was sitting on it's fat haunches & contemplating the FWD acorn that is the 1/2 series, they let their core models grow fat & sloppy, and forfeit the 'ultimate driving machine' tagline. Sounds like a bunch of advancements in luxury tech out of the box. Interested to see the real world / light pics. Overall Cadillac is being competitive with the segment's buyer's demands; as you go up the ladder, the models get slightly more conservative. - - - - - As an aside, was at the dealer today and noted 2 ATS coupes- they are very nice in person; sleek. Rims look very nice, also. The pics don't quite live up to the reality of it.
  10. No pics on the site here of my car, so here's a little snapshot. Not much to see, tho I have a lot of time in it to get this far.
  11. '64-65 Chevy Malibu 2-dr sedan, very dark blue, very matte paint, original/ unrestored, looking tired but rollin'.
  12. I don't; no. Spent a year in school in Detroit, and am a chronic vintage nut/ car researcher… but no direct connection. Many city library systems archive old city directories. Even without phone numbers, these were 'people directories'; I've looked at a few from 1900-1915 and they had the person's employer's names in them (these were from WI, not MI). Worth a shot.
  13. Looks like a real clean ride! Not a factory '57 color, a bit bright, but I doubt that will deter any buyers at the Series 62 4-dr tier. '57 Eldorado Seville is in my top 10 Caddys. My restoration on my B-59 is stalled at the 60% mark (frame-off), but I do know what a full-scale rest entails. A TON of work & money. I think you are correct; most initial advertising attempts get the tire kickers and flippers out; the 'keeper owner' who really loves the car for what it is comes later. Classic auto trader & Hemmings are good spots to advertise, not as many insincere tire kickers, I believe.
  14. After comparing the 2 side-by-side, sounds a LOT like envy. Bentley just does NOT look appropriate to it's price tags. The 'beaver tooth' hanging down below the grille, the clunky 'mitten' door handles, the flat wheel arches, but especially the un-detailed headlight & taillight settings… quite frankly BOTH the Continental & the production Chrysler 300 look more upscale on the exterior than the Bentley. The 1990s Acura-channeling headlight treatment of the last 10 years of Bentley have never looked upscale, ever. I say this frequently seeing Bentleys on the road (saw a dark blue convertible on US Rt 1 two days ago). Bentley is doing the same ol' SOP Euro approach; get mired down deep in the mud of your design and sit there, for a decade at a time. I don't get the fear of upsetting the customer by moving forward/ upward stylistically.
  15. 'rear steering'?? Clarify intent plz.
  16. IMO; McLaren peaked with the F1, design-wise. Not an 'exotic' car fan per say, but this version somehow doesn't look at 'serious'.
  17. I do like it a lot. It IS a bit rounded, I'm not quite saying it reminds me of the '90s, but the trend has been to sharper lines. F'ing the trends, I like it. I would prefer a less fussy wheel, something more disc-like… the bottom'edge trim & rounded shape make it also look somewhat like a high speed highway car- disc wheels would complete that. Please keep the chromed bottom edge- SO much nicer than the unpainted black plastic on FAR too many vehicles in ALL segments today. Looking forward to larger/ other pics.

  19. Let's all ponder that deeply for a moment. - - - - - circa '55-56 International HD truck, white, clean, in yard with moving trucks, lettered the same. '67-68 Mustang convert, red, nice shape, rollin.
  20. Rog- I have a sandblast cabinet if you're in the area during your travels.
  21. But MBUSA MAKES a profit..., but they always want more, hence the CLA, the b-class, the 'sprinter-ette', and the other upcoming FWD appliances. Not remotely needed to avoid bankruptcy, but there to make money (and erode brand image at the same time). The sharing of engine components totally jives with the Corporate mentality there.
  22. What manufacturer did your G-GF work for (or was he in an upholstery shop)?
