  1. Saw an '81 Eldorado a few days ago, sweet white Biarritz. But yea; this gen of E-Bodies is a rare sight indeed these days.

  3. That was it. Not working for the site in question.... tho the actual site says 'be back soon', so perhaps this question is moot. I HAVE to learn to back things up immediately.....
  4. A while ago we had a link to really old internet backup (?) of early C&G pages. I had started up an O/T thread on a message board, and it grew to 5 or 6 pages, all technical info, but the site just went down due to non-payment. I have no contact info for the admin, either. Is there some way to view cache'd images or straight text of my pages in question; ala the early C&G pages??
  5. It's not going to get 25 slogging thru NYC.
  6. But german engineering is better.... isn't it?
  7. >>"Knowing Audi/VW, Im sure they are non-serviceable bearings."<< "German engineering"...
  8. MAN, did that front seat discolor! ••• Turning al Eldo into a wagon is the same as turning a Camaro into a sedan in my book. I'd have no issue with converting a 'workaholic' deVille into one, but not an Eldo. LOVE the pickup, tho. Jeers.
  9. These has some (minorly) weird lines that kept this 2 or 3 notches below an Eldo in my book. Still, for what it is (and for once a '70s car in black!), it's a beaut.
  10. From the pics, I do like the rear fascia, but prefer the vertical blades/grille on the prior gen. The sunroof is 'much ado about nothing'. And gee, another 3-spoke steering wheel with a hole thru the bottom one. Agreed : pics are making me unsure as to the true proportions/ surfacing. Better verdict 'in the steel'.
  11. >>"just want the prestige brand image"<< Realistically, that's the MAJORITY of MB buyers.
  12. Another case, IMO, of another division drawing heavily from Cadillac design. In this case, you have to focus to tell this from a Seville, head-on. Not good for Cadillac. Chevy started doing this with their big cars in the early '70s, too.
  13. My B-59 came from PA, but that was some years ago. Then, I walked in the DMV with a signed title and got a Jersey one. In the day, as long as a signature was on the back of the title (and nothing else), it was fine.
  14. Shouldn't it be named the 'ALA' or something along those lines? (not that there's much sense to the structure as it is, anyway).
  15. ^ sounds like hell on Earth.
  16. mercedees has an increasingly bewildering array of alphabet names. Was this FWD sedan expected, or is it a new addition?
  17. Ford F-150 had a inline 6 "forever" also, it was the last to change over to the 'more modern' V design. BMW is still the last OEM still badging their engines as 'injected', so finally switching over to a V6 decades after most everyone else did is par for their course. No worries; the V6 is likely to take a volume back seat to the 4-banger... and at least that is still an inline.
  18. With all the focus and hype on hand-held devices being banned, it amazes me anyone could turn around and suggest a driver-accessible tablet would be a peachy-keen idea.
  19. Well, inline engines are generally associated with ancient, outmoded technology... you kno; like pushrods, so the changeover just brings BMW up to modern perceptions here.

  21. When the 'others' pull this sort of chit is when I challenge those that say 'Cadillac should just advertise on it's product's merits' instead of calling out the competition. Left uncorrected, these sorts of claims slip into general acceptance. Didn't toyota claim to have pioneered headlights that steered with the front wheels??
  22. As a collectible... which it is NOT... the price is too high. But buy it as basic transportation and use it up.... and the number starts to look pretty good. Personally, even as disposable transportation, I could not bring myself to spend over around $1200 on it.
  23. It is, but Missouri is a bit outside the range of my zap collar.
