  1. I'd rather have 3000 lbs / 290 HP in a Solstice GXP.
  2. Gorgeous. One day I'd love to own a '53-56 CdV...
  3. Moved a 1985 Plymouth Reliant sedan around a yard & side street. Had 80K original miles, was super clean & ran well. It actually had a mild charm to it; so plain & simple...
  4. Well, this beast just followed me home today. I guess it was whispering to me more persistently than I thought. Spent yesterday pulling the motor/trans for the previous owner- it indeed was a THM200 behind the 265. Bumper & headlight bezels are already sold, I will be stripping the rest of whatever is decent & scrapping the remains. Hope I can get into the black quickly...
  5. ^ My recollection is that 'datsun' was somehow deemed to be less 'ethnic' than 'nissan', so it was changed for the U.S.. At some point they felt they could drop the charade. What strikes me here is that 'datsun' isn't a separate brand, just a different name for the same entity, so the only logical way to "bring back the brand" is to drop 'nissan' for 'datsun'. Again.
  6. ^ Moto-Meters are aftermarket-supplied; numerous cars used them. 5.08 gears- holy crap balls. A Fisher Body plate means the car is not a Fleetwood- not sure why the ad references Fleetwood. Big Fat Cheers- nice (mostly) original !
  7. Hmmm... where to start. The headlights; yes - they look cheap on mercedees and they look wrong/ cheap here too. Not liking the color, but I've seen far worse. Body mods, for the most part, I give a thumbs up. I would've gone a teeny bit farther tho- extended the windsplit up over the roof & down around the exhaust portal. Would've faired in the taillight housings a bit more, too. Overall I give the body a 95% in execution. Interior is mostly well done, too. I hate those Lecarra Mk 10 wheels tho. I'll give it a 80%. RE the motor: STG 2 heads & headers on a 462 should be worth 400 HP to start, but it's way under-carbed @ 700 cfm.
  8. TERM LIMITS. I am the 99%.... FED UP with subsidizing Big Gov't.
  9. Keep an eye open for a '66 Elky for m...... oh; I forgot who I was talking to here.
  10. Why don't you buy the Chevelle? You'd get the straight talk WRT condition & history, I can guarantee you that.
  11. Except 3>2... I have a few spare 389s, Camino, including a '64.....
  12. Have to believe you did something screwing in the listing / categories.
  13. ^ Yeah, NO. All '64-66s were 389s, 400 came along for '67. There aren't quite as many engine repop pieces for the 389 vs. the 400, and they're visually identical. Camino- here's my buddy's '67 Chevelle project car- perhaps that's more up yer alley: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Chevelle-malibu-1967-Chevelle-Malibu-2-door-hardtop-/160759746637?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item256e07104d#ht_500wt_1107
  14. My buddy just listed his '56 Bel-Air and the listing went without a hitch (his first listing). It shows up in the cold search, too.
  15. Well, it's a decent parts offering since this car will never be numbers-matching, good major pieces for a built cruiser... tho I'd go with a 400 over the 455 here. I would be much more interested if this was a mostly rust-free car instead of the surgery the description says it needs. What's your take?
  16. I see a baby-butt-smooth '38 ! however.... it does NOT show up for me if I do a cold search for '1938 Dodge'.... nor if I search for '1936-1940', tho other yr Dodges do. Sumtin's up....
  17. ^ No interest in a ferrari beater, eh?
  18. I don't know the market on these but I'll say this- I'm not surprised to see a brand new 'specialty' (collectible from new) vehicle like this still asking MSRP-esque price. This isn't a mass-market Impala...
  19. If 'nothing was overlooked', why is the steering wheel covered in a vinyl wrap? 2nd Series '55 would be worth more, I'll bet. Total cheers.
  20. Talked to a VW-head buddy of mine- he says there've been 2 T motors, the 1.8L & 2.0L, and supposedly he's seen many drag racers pull their 2.0L in favor of the stouter-blocked 1.8L. From talking about the physicalities of my motor, it seems to be the 1.8L. Now... to crowbar some benjamins out of this hunk of aluminum.....
  21. Would love to see a pic of what he's dealing with, if possible. Don't be such a stranger, gpg.
  22. What was the original sticker on these?
  23. Sent- thanks.
  24. I have a bunch of Olds' print ads from the '38-39 era - no mention of MPG claims. 1 ad mentions a 'Econo-Master' engine but gives no numeric claim. I didn't read the specifics RE the Gilmore-Yosemite test, but I can tell you the Mobilgas runs squeezed the best MPG out of the cars in it, ever. I guarantee you the '40 MPG' thing did NOT originate @ GM... ESP with the actual being so far from 40.
