  1. Black Tie traditionally has 'high-side' pricing...
  2. Would you call your crocodile a croc?
  3. It depends. I bought my '64 GP in '86 with a '71 inspection sticker in the window. Yes- it sat (outside) for 15 years. Rebuilt the carb & resealed the gas tank & she ran like a bat out of hell.
  4. Yup- I did. Apologies.
  5. It's not collectible, therefore would make a great brand new car for only $6800. Some rims (not too large) would do wonders for it- it's not bad looking at all, just Super Vanilla.
  6. As pointed out, the 'balt is $12.9K. That's a great price for the entry-level class. How is your proposed price 'lower than the koreans' --assumedly without any cost-cutting in the product -- supposed to be accomplished?? You suggestion doesn't seem to be serious.
  7. >>"The block, though beefed up, could not stand the stress and strain of the high-compression diesel pistons. Cylinder-head bolts broke. Gaskets blew. Crankshafts failed. Engines overheated. "<< The piece says the block 'couldn't handle the stress' then proceeds to call out non-block problem areas. I think that's called slander. Fact is, the diesel 350 blocks are strong as holy hell and make excellent candidates for a performance gas build. How's 500 HP sound?
  8. No worries; toyota will slap together another 450,000... Ted will be in hump heaven.
  9. Right: nothing will take the "cheap"ness out of a Cobalt like dropping the price to $6000. Well thought out.
  10. I know the '80 Seville has a DIC, but something in my mind says a precursor to that was in the '78 Seville. Not the same thing but the 'father' of the DIC.... EDIT: Came back to me: whatever the specifics of it's capabilities, the '78 Seville had something available called TripMaster.
  11. I know; I'll leave it lay for others. Sixty8- in your confirmation of the answer, please include what you can find on the the meaning behind the term (I don't know offhand/ I've always wondered/ I don't care to look it up).
  12. wikipedia is -generally speaking- a real mess. They should be barred from using "-pedia" in their name until everything is factually checked and viewer editing ability is discontinued. I'll clean up the GTO entry when I get a chance... I liked the question, it IS an unusual situation regarding the headlights/bumper- just a technicality trip-up no doubt based on erroneous sources. It can be hard to pick your way around those.
  13. >>"Is it going to collapse?"<< Fire damage in the pic doesn't look overly compromising, but the rafters are 2x4s and there's no ridge board or crossties. That's about as minimal (and far from current code) as you can get in a roof. What size are the ceiling joists above your room- hopefully 2x8s, and what is the distance from the roof peak in the pic to the 'floor' where you were standing? Curious how the damage is in one bay but not the next- must've been either a divider wall or the unburnt roofing/rafters were replaced (with old boards).
  14. I find the G6 to be one of the most appealingly styled cars in this class. They jump out at me on the road.
  15. Technically that is incorrect. The '68 GTO had the Endura bumper & hidden headlights as standard equipment. The chrome front bumper and the fixed headlights were 'delete options'. In other words; you could order a car without these features... and usually a delete option resulted in a credit to the sticker price. Delete option headlights & bumper were not offered for '69.
  16. Sure we can but no one in Policy has a spine. Ever read reports of foreign business having to pass absurd testing & certification procedures to get into the japanese market? Like loading an import row boat to the gunwales with rocks to see if it still floats?
  17. How about for once just simply saying 'No'?
  18. Damn- I was hoping this wasn't answered yet... so I could answer it. From the Olds Division the Jetstar I is among my favorites.
  19. THM350 is not inherantly failure prone even behind factory big blocks. Good opening question. Pontiac 455 SD is a great, great motor. I have no 'if only' wishes for my aluminum Stage II-headed Buick 455/THM400 either.
  20. As the single C&G resident who owns an Invicta, allow me to say....... I like the name! I know I'm way off the Normal Scale, but 'Statesman' is only going to remind me of a Nash; thumbs down.
  21. Sugared sodas & juice drinks are inheritantly bad for you due to the (duh) suger & suger derivatives (those with a "-ose' suffix), not to mention the chemicals. Many nutritionists call sugar the white poison. Diet soda is a chemical nightmare. I used to drink maybe (6) 24-oz bottle a week until I got pain in my knees & elbows. Quit, pain quit, started up again, pain returned. I quit for good, I had to, and I LOVED/CRAVED diet Pepsi. There is a plethora of info on aspartame online- it's amazing it's legal. It is akin to formaldahyde & cyrstallizes in the joints. BTW- I recently ran a 'test' on Splenda-sweetened soda- same result. Coffee is especially bad because it carries roughly 5 times the caffiene as soda. I am not sure how decaffinated coffee & tea is, but coffee is also strongly acidic, which skews the body's balance from a healthy alkaline to a disease-subseptible acidic balance. I believe tea is also acidic. Milk carries an enzyme which increases the chance of prostate cancer. Many sources have said that adults should not drink milk. Soy milk is another (unresearched by me) matter. I have been learning more and more about diet as I get older. I enjoy liquid and all this info sucks. I am left with water and unsweetened juice drinks as I try to reduce my consumption of milk & ice tea. Never drank coffee.
  22. This is making me really wonder about my '94 F-150. It still has it's original cables- I need to look at this era Chevy's cables: I believe mine are much thicker. I just made ramps to load a snowblower last fall.
  23. I would respectfully disagree. A Pontiac engine underhood makes all the difference in the world to legions of fans. Add in mostly unique sheetmetal, interior & suspension and they (1st gen) are not what should be called 'basically the same'.
  24. I have never had a 'love affair' with the 'maro. I grew up to be a 3rd generation multiple Pontiac owner, and even tho that never included a Firebird, I would prefer a Firebird (esp 1st gen) immensely over a Camaro, which are great cars but far too common for my tastes. My brother has owned his '68 Firebird for about 10 years now- the F-Body has fantastic lines. About 3 years ago I sat in a '71 T/A for a while one day- even tired & beat it sucked me in with it's appeal; I could own a 2nd gen, too... but again it would have to be a Pontiac over a Chevy.
  25. Sweet- siting purty on those fats shoes. Dig the tri-colored emblems- wonder how they look against something like -say- a baby blue paint. I see it's not one of the rare 3x2 cars.... and I don't recall if a cold air package was offered for '66 or not- Olds built some killer image cold air induction packages in the late '60s. I like '67s: sucks from between the headlights.
