  1. STILL finding new-to-me dealers, plus a new stream of vintage pics online. Current count : 4500 coded Pontiac dealers 8400 total
  2. We were talking about diesel/gas and BE losing mpg in cold temps. TFL did this real world test of the GMC 3.0L Duramax, running it on a 421 mile road trip on 3 degree temps. Computer trip odo said 24.4, calculated mpg was 25.3. Truck is rated at 22/26.
  3. Know how many models alfa-rodeo has? 3. The answer isn't a badge-job, the answer requires investment.
  4. If Chrysler is "all new" by being badge-engineered fiats or Peugeots, don't bother. You already F'd it up.
  5. Not since I last ran it. Which was not in this century.
  6. Not legitimate idea, no. Yes- it "ran when parked". It's not the trans; put it in N and pushed it smoothly both outside & back in garage. Friend says starter, but that's illogical to me. Took all belts off front, water pump turns (someone online suggested that, but there's no mechanical connection between a water pump & the reciprocating assembly). I have wondered about the timing chain, but if debris wedged, it should reverse out. Seems to point to the rings.
  7. OK. here's the update since last post. Cylinders were filled with Marvel Mystery Oil end of August but the motor never responded to turning any further. OK, it may have moved about 1/16th of a revolution. It's stuck. It has to come out. Using a borescope, most of the cylinders are fine, 2 look less so. Don't have any idea why it won't turn- it's something else. I decided to have the Tri-P rebuilt and run that, it needs to get done so the motor can use it when being built. 2 months turnaround on the carbs, supposedly 3 months before the engine builder has a slot for my mill. Cam is spec'd, going to do some transmission recon as I may swap it for a THM400 unit. It's either get this car moving again, or sell it off.
  8. Buying a car, sight unseen like a bag of parakeet food via Amazon, seems to me to be the very OPPOSITE of a "luxury buying" experience. So that wouldn't be a "redefined luxury buying experience" in as much as it would be the elimination of a luxury buying experience. The automobile continues its undeniable march toward being a total disposable appliance. And this is coming from someone who places zero weight on "the buying experience"; walking across a marble floor or a vinyl tile floor for 30 minutes has zero effect on a vehicle I may well own for over 10 years.
  9. Travesty. Damn toyoter.
  10. One aspect of the above video that needs to be analyzed (and maybe he did in the rest I didn't watch) is that there's not necessarily a limitless amount of grid increase 'out there'. ALSO, it's a lot easier and cheaper to go from -say- 1 million to 1.33 million (a gain of 330,000) than it is to go from 4 million to 5.32 million (a gain of 1,320,000). That same percentage in both cases (33%) is 4 times larger in the second scenario.
  11. Wife's co-worker moved here recently from somewhere a number of states away, and her comment RE Jersey drivers was priceless; "lawless animals". It's fine here, just keep your slow-ass in the right lane. Most accidents aren't on limited major highways where AD currently is enablable, they're on all other roads. I declined to pay $900 for the 'safety package' option on my ordered truck, and I'd never pay $2-10 grand to momentarily take my hands off the wheel so... I can rest them in my lap yet still have to be alert/looking thru the windshield. Amazing that some folk think this is a viable choice. IMO, that's like paying 10 grand to hit an optional button while you're driving, every 10 seconds, that silences the buzzer that's letting you know you're driving.
  12. There’s no legitimate safety-based case for mandating an autonomous driving feature.
  13. ^ This guy really knows how to monologue, but I value that he doesn't just breezily say 'Oh; future tech advances will work everything out, period' like other do. Watched 5:30 mins, can't argue with that part of it.
  14. There's been a bunch of custom & I believe aftermarket alternatives. Would love to see GMC come out with something along this line- with the CabonPro & MultiPro bed features, perhaps.
  15. Correct; custom fabbed.
  16. How would that remotely happen? Isn’t tesla charging buyers like 5 grand to unlock autopilot? Would take 150 years to get even half the vehicles to be on an ‘autopilot’ on all roads. ‘tis to laugh.
  17. What's the 'GX' denote on the one SUV?
  18. Thanks for the correction- I saw something else apparently. The 2 corporations are very close in many metrics, and Daimler has been benchmarking GM for decades. Remember their slogan not that long ago; "In a perfect world, there'd be a Mercedes in every driveway"... Finance-wise, Daimler is up 354% over the last 12 months, GM is up 398%. They also have a decisive edge in the arena investors seems to lose their critical thought on- BE's, so how it goes is anyone's guess. One thing tho- the idle talk of Daimler buying GM has long evaporated (not saying that Daimler was contemplating that).
  19. This truck should satisfy BOTH camps; the throaty growl of IC and the 'electric' whine sound of a blower, all in one vehicle!
  20. My son works in the blood bank of a NYS hospital and he got his 2nd shot last week. I believe it was the Phizer. Felt crappy for 2 days, low fever for 1, totally fine after that. He’s 23.
