  1. With every comment made the closer U come to really being that childhood game.. we used to Pin the Tail on. Where is the true advancement in powertrains when all they did was get beat by the MIGHTY Escalade enough times that they put a more aggressive 9speed in the BITCHO Benz so it could literally eeeeeek out a win in the acceleration test by a mere 10th of a second in the 1/4 and 0-60 both. Also.. if GM wanted to drop more than 420HP/460lbs of torque in the 'Slade they certainly have the engines, both NA and Forced Induced to do it
  2. Actually. U are wrong. The CT6 on the bottom spectra was laxed in the interior to justify the price. The CTS actually has a better interior than the CT6, IMO, until U get to the Premium L and Platinum CT6. The CT6 in this comparo is a BASE car for all intents. The only CT6 that should be sold, if it is gonna be held to the same level of expectation as the S-Class etc.. would be the Platinum.. which I have yet to read an true negative word about its interior even in comparos against the aforementioned leader of the segment. Otherwise.. realize that if U take a car that should only be sold to people with the "XYZ means.." and downgrade it cater to those who only have the "XY" sans the Z.. corners will have to be cut.. and they damn sure are better cut from the insides than the bones. Point is.. if U have a car like the CT6.. on Omega.. and U have to snatch out things to bring cost down.. where do U snatch? Do U add in heavier steel instead of the lighter stuff? Do U put in less sound-deadening?? How about less forgiving sound-proof glass??? No what Caddy did was put less high quality leather in, deleted the MRC, and added no performance tires. U want a real CT6?? Buy a Platinum or even Premium Luxury.
  3. I agree on the of being stuck in the past.. pre 2014 or JDN and Uwe getting to their posts.. but saying goodbye to some of the traditional buyers seems to be their major goal in returning the brand to its rightful spot... above Benz. In China.. an onslaught of new vehicles would only continue their offensive.. with last year the brand selling 117K units and up almost 50%. New products will push them even higher. And before U recite other brand's numbers.. keep in mind that Cadillac is somewhat new to the market.. not to mention as I said before.. should be coupled with its sister brand Buick. But U would hate that. Cause that would put Cadillac/Buick sales above your precious Germans
  4. I'm surprised no one called U out on this idiotic comparo. Let's be clear.. with $70K U could have gotten a CT6 3.0L TT with AWD that would have put the weaksauce Chinaman car on the trailer with the Kraut. In fact.. why was the CT6 in this run at all? Why not simply bring in a CTS 2.0L AWD loaded to the hilt? To MT it made sense to take a 204 inch car and put it up against 2 vehicles that were smaller than even the smaller than CT6s lil sis the CTS. Can U say BULLCRAP???
  5. Quick.. the only car makers on Cadillac's level of 1930s (check the V16) remaining are Rolls and Bentley. Benz, outside of the Pullman. Both Rolls and Bentley are a part of another company after the almost death of each in the 80s. And let's be clear.. during the 80s and 90s.. both were only a slight step, if any, above Cadillac or Benz. With due respect.. we could all tell stories from our younger days.. hell I can tell U some from now.. where a person we knu or encountered was driving a car that sat outside of a rented shack or slum. I'm from Baltimore 4Godsake.. I see $100K+ Range Rovers, 760is and S-Classes outside of the projects anytime I roll thru. Cash money rulz.. always.. and it really doesn't care where its spent.. and nor do the sellers of commodities. I can say that Cadillacs of the 80s.. some.. were great cars.. versus the competition. The 90s??? Not so much. The 2000s saw a resurgance and the 2010s are them being there but still getting people to accept it, thus a slight pull back. In other words the CT6. That car is near perfect. And I can see Cadillac (JDN) saying.... "Whoooah Whoooah.. save that extra stuff for the next car (CT8) because we have to ease them into this again.. otherwise all the extra stuff we put into it will not only go unnoticed, but be billed as trying too hard."
  6. Audis are faster due to the fact that they employ performance AWD in all of there vehicles. Same for the GLC43... plus it gets a boost from the gearing in the 9speed. BTW.. to anyone paying attention.. this GLC43 is an AMG model with a 3.0LTT. A similarily geared VSport XT5 with AWD would most like fuck it up.. with only the LGW's HP let alone the LF3
  7. I agree. The XT5 I test recently did feel very quick. I was surprised at first.. but considered the gearing and the lighter weight versus the SRX and even the '15 Q5 a friend of mine has.. The Q5 is technically faster.. but it didn't feel like it. Cadillac should, IMO, go the forced induction only rout at this point. The revised 3.6L is nice, but the 3.0LTT, 3.6LTT, and even 2.0LTT (ironically has as much power literally as Audi's 3.0LSC) are simply better Oh yeah Drew.. test drove this the other day. Ask me why I actually considered trading my Yukon in for this very awesome and nimble G.Cherokee competitor?
  8. It blows me away that Cadillac even still uses the 3.6L at all considering the under-utilized LF3, LF4 and LGW. The LGX is simply not necessary anymore. The use of the 3.0L TT would be perfect even it was just re-tuned to 335HP.. which would be bonkers when a sweet spot would be 360HP and the given torque advantage of the forced induction
  9. Coupla things Bud. I am the last person that thinks Cadillac needs to strive for massive volume. I think they need volume to a certain degree as they yield more profit per vehicle than any other GM vehicles sides the K2xx, but I have long advocated that the Cadillac sales channel should be merged in with the Buick/GMC one to negate any thought of volume being a necessary component of success.. similar to how Jag/LR get no flack for small sales (105K combined with LR carrying 73K of that weight in US or a total of about 500K in 2016) Second.. why not use percentages? Percentages are how real business operates. Third. At what point was Cadillac a joke in real circles in the 80s outside of the mechanical issues of the diesel and 4-6-8? In the 80s the Cadillac name was more prestigious than the 90s in fact. If for no other reason than the new kids from Japan hadn't truly arrived yet AND AGAIN.. CADILLAC NEEDS A DAMN CONVERTIBLE AND COUPE
  10. The CTS saw 33% of its sales being a coupe last go around. Coupes, while not favored as hot sellers in the TWO LARGEST markets is no reason to not have a coupe in a singular luxury division.. nor is not having a convertible.. when they are available in the lower brands. Of course following your logic.. WE WILL NOT KNO AS IF IT ISN'T BUILT THEN IT CAN'T BE BOUGHT. Again.. I don't kno where U live but in Maryland/VA all the way down to Atlanta name dropping Cadillac is a big deal and 80% of the people I hear doing it or hearing are of the opinion that Cadillac is a high up as Benz and BMW.. just in some cases (20%) for older customers. That perception is changing.. and just because the age demo is perceived as higher doesn't equate to it being lessor. I can name drop Cadillac or Escalade all day and people instantly hear $$$. And Mary Kay picks the cars they want and have wanted for over 50 years, and over 100,000 units. For your information.. they also offer a 7series.. that's a BMW... But top sales reps consistently seem to still opt for the Pink Cadillac, because of the statement. BTW.. it truly occurs to me that no matter the strives Cadillac has made and continues to make.. until they sell as many units as Benz or BMW they will not be thought of as great by forum lovers. Its kind of ironic when one thinks of it.
  11. As I said.. they need Coupes and Converts. I have no issue with the bookends getting those first.. as in the ATS or sub-ATS getting them as well as the CT6 or CT8. Also I have to say that I find it ridiculous that U believe that some one wold actually THINK that a Cadillac buyer couldn't afford a "better car." Its silly because typically, outside of the CT6, which is priced low only in la la land and for bait and switch reasons, Cadillac is normally only a few thousand less than the competition. E-Class $52,150 5Series $51,200 A6 $47,600 CTS $46,555 XF $48,250 GS $46,310 Even if one went furthest away.. and picked the CTS vs E-Class we are only looking at a 5500 difference. If $5500 is an issue then none of these people should be in a luxury dealership anyway. Furthermore the prices of BMW and Benz are higher but their more abundant lease specials very often make the price less monthly.
  12. I was thinking that as well. The A3 fighter would essentially be the ATS with Cadillac going back to the "Biggest in class" philosophy but now lighter. I really believe that the ACTUAL ATS will be the same size as the ATS-L sold in China, while the CTS will remain the same exterior size but go on Omega and get a longer WB
  13. Becuse it could be.. but I doubt it considering the need to continue utilizing the RWD Alpha Platform. and pretty easy to do. I might try to see what it looks like on the Yukon this weekend with some plastidip.
  14. I'm sorry. I do love Cadillac, but I'm also IN LOVE with Cadillac. Like I wish it could have my baby and we settle down and live happily ever after with me never ever looking at another woman again kinda love. That being said.. Yes.. Caddy NEEDS a coupe and convertible. The lack of these extravagant actually is holding the brand back. I bet great money that just the addition of Lexus' LC500 will instantly catapult that tired brand into more legitimate comparisons to Benz and BMW. In fact.. and this bewilders the shit out of me.. the previous Gen CTS's Coupe was doing the exact same thing for Cadillac. The loss of that car actually stumped their ascension. It wasn't about practicality.. it was about the "WOW.. look at that... Hold Up.. is that a Cadillac?" factor. Believe me.. as an ex-CTS-V Coupe owner I watched slobber lines trail even the most staunch German luxo lover like a snail leaves a trail on the sidewalk in the Spring. Yes the CUV segment needs to be addressed. Obviously. That's announced. I covered it before with the whole "Cadillac 2 versus Mercedes 7 CUVs" talk above. They need them for sales.. but sales don't equal prestige.. which I really don't agree with U completely in terms of "name dropping at parties." LOL.. a very tired statement that car forum people like to use.. Either way.. I've been to these parties after pulling up.. and I have never not once in the last 8 years .. been belittled for owning and promoting owning Cadillacs. Very often having comments of "must be nice being able to.. " lobbed at me. The only time I've been asked why Cadillac and not BMW or Benz was when it was someone who was still in the mindset of the old DEVILLE Cadillacs. My current Caddy stops people in their tracks. A Coupe would have given them a heart attack.. a Vert??? Instant DEATH. Again. CUVs for sales. Great CUVs with luxury as a priority. Niche cars are still a very necessary component.
  15. I see them all the time here in Maryland especially because of the fact that we really only have three seasons and we get pretty nice Sunshine days from March to October. Regardless... a luxo brand should not be all about practicality to be frank. Exuberance is a necessity. A convertible is more of an expression of opulence than even a sports car. Especially if your 4 seater is rolling down the freeway, top down and just one occupant. And mind U... I'm not a convertible buyer, but I have a crazy amount of friends who are. Also the floating roof on the Escalade is an easy mod
  16. Coupe and Convertible are definitely necessary. Its part of what is holding Cadillac back in terms of prestige. In fact.. I believe Cadillac should have a convertible in CT3, CT5, and CT6 (or CT8) no different than Benz. Quite frankly Cadillac's line-up, BARRING the cheap compliance and mainstream cars from Benz, should be pretty much the SAME as Benzo's.
  17. But its still disproportionate.. as China has 1.35 Billion people vs the U.S. having 325 Million. Of that amount at least 16 Million people in the U.S. are classified as Millionaires while China has about 1.3 Million classified as such. Think about that for a sec... of China's 1.35 Billion they have 0.1% of their population where as 5.0% of our pop are. That's huge. And I'd be afraid as shit that one day the non-millionaire population revolts Also.. Mid 2018 is literally next year. They can certainly continue growth by simply marketing what they already have. It will be small growth, but growth nonetheless. The market is not what it once was 20, 30, 50 years ago. Cadillac sales are lagging behind competitors because it is in need of the necessary vehicles to compete in all areas they do. Seven (7) Vehicles versus Mercedes having sixteen (16) for instance.. and I believe 8 of those Mercedes are SUVs, the hottest selling type of vehicle in any segment, but that does not mean it can't promote the hell out of the Escalades and XT5. In truth this could actually work out perfectly for Caddy in a number of ways. How about being able to market the brand and up the prestige even further? Before the new product comes out. It has done a fantastic job so far re-awaking people to its resurgence.
  18. Gotta check out the "OA" and "Travelers" on Netflix.. oh and one called "Black Mirror." I just finished "Luther" which stars Idris.. this one completely got by me. Seriously one of the best shows I have ever seen. "Hacksaw Ridge" Mel Gibson directed this biographical story of Desmond Doss, a medic in WWII and the taking of Okinawa Japan. Watched last night and it was damn good. "American Honey" About this girl who hooks up with these traveling magazine sales kids and gets into so me very interesting shit. Stars Sasha Lane and Shia LaBeouf)
  19. In 1972 the only car my parents had was my dad's 1963 Chevy Impala SS... 2 door, 409, 4 speed.. .lathered in metalic blue. Like this one.. which is all the way over in the UK
  20. What are U sorry for??? We said essentially the same thing about Audi in the US competing with exception to your missing the part where I said "Cadillac Level" in referring to the Vette. I included the Vette because the Vette competes with the R8 and TT IMO. As for the CTS and CT6 being close in size.. that's ridiculous. Furthermore the CT6 is only 2 inches smaller than the S-Class in length and wheelbase
  21. ^^^ This. I have argued this for a while. Its one of the reasons why it is almost impossible for me to argue sales of Cadillac versus Benz, Bimmer, or Audi... they simply cover a spectrum that Cadillac doesn't need to. Let's face it.. as an example.. Audi's competitor in China isn't so much Caddy.. but Buick and Caddy combined. Here in the US.. Caddy and Audi are so directly competing.. with the HELP of Corvette... that the brands' sales are almost exactly the same. I included the Vette because again.. the Vette really is at this point a Cadillac level vehicle.. with the Camaro now really taking its place in the Chevy Line. Side Not.. I don't kno if U caught the Jalopnik article on the CT6 Platinum.. It agree with pretty much what I've been saying all along. The CT6 PLATINUM.. is an S-Class competitor. Jalopnik
  22. VW could be up to about $80 Billion in fines right now globally
  23. And it looks like this guy is being held without bail... Oliver Schmidt, 48, is charged with eleven felony counts, which could be punished by up to 169 years in prison, the government said. He is one of 6 VW execs charged. This is coming from Autonews While I will admit that no company is immune to this.. I love the fact that VW buyers are getting the shaft along with the execs.. for BETRAYING the Domestics... GM and Ford Its no secret that I believe if U currently own or buy a product from any manufacturer other than these two.. U should be deported or arrested
  24. WASHINGTON -- The EPA has accused FCA of using similar software as, already found guilty VW, that allowed excess diesel emissions in over 100,000 U.S. trucks and SUVs sold since 2014. FCA has declined to comment, and Reuters cites sources that declare that FCA will contest the claims. It is common practice for automakers to use secondary emission controls to protect engines from internal damage. When doing so the maker must proclaim and document it to the EPA. Currently, Fiat-Chrysler’s 2017 diesels are not certified for sale in the United States, forcing Chrysler to continue selling 2016 models instead. On Wednesday, January 11, 2017, Volkswagen was fined $4.3 Billion for criminal and civil violations in misleading regulators and selling vehicles that pollute.
  25. I often think that this is a flawed way of looking at things. A product does not pick its buy that precisely. If U really succumb to such perceptions then U really are not paying attention.. NOT U Hyper.. but the consumers out there. Everyone driving a Benz is not brokering a deal for who they work for because many driving a Benz these days are managers or, in some cases workers at that Walmart. Benz is doing the exact opposite with their branding compared to Cadillac. Its not completely set in yet.. but day by day we see it. Mercedes is for all intents competing directly with CHEVY, BUICK, and CADILLAC at this point. In Australia, the E-Class was a Commodore competitor. Your Porsche comparison is different as well. As the Porsche brand, was mostly 911 at the time. The 944 was introduced with the sole purpose of offering a cheaper Porsche. Cadillac has nothing except market products that are priced accordingly with their competition for all intent. The CT6, might be the exception, but the Platinum is priced perfectly as an alternative competitor like the LS460.. or even XJ, with the Caddy actually being more expensive and more powerful than either in that particular start range
