Damn right it is. It cost more. Its been on the market since 2012.. It has older tech... Its not even in line with current Cadillac styling.. still essentially looking like the previous generation of Caddys like SRX.
-
As Surreal points out.. the Mustang was 30%+ in Fleet sales to Rental for a nice portion of the year. Couple that with a lower price and more availability.. not to mention a Corvette on the lot sitting across from the Camaro and yeah.. I can see where the Mustang was sales champ. Also I'm seriously weary of any thoughts that the CT6 and Continental are competitors.. let alone that the CT6 is racking up Fleet orders while the XTS is still on the lot.. bought and paid for over and over by itself.. not even including Impala and LaX. Also.. last I checked.. GM was doing quite nice in profits using their current strategy

Of course U say that.. U supposedly helped engineer it. I would love to see the sales breakdown of the MK... er I mean Continental. Like the Mustang I bet fleet is a huge reason for its few hundred more sales over the more expensive CT6. That and MKS traders who had to get the hell out of yesterday's Free Willy.

I'm talking about from trunk down to under valence. They are very similar. No never-mind tho. Saab is a better design. Its a clear case of the Continental stealing from various manufacturers and still coming off as stale. CT6 is not bold??? Only because its been seen before in the ATS and CTS since 2012. They are BOLD. Doesn't mean CT6 is not BOLD. Fact is U see a CT6 coming at U and U kno its a Cadillac as it absolutely catches your eye. The Lincoln has to go thru your mind's catalog of a 100 cars before U distinctly can pin point what the hell it is. Nothing unique about it. Nothing. Driving one would make me feel no more special than hoping in an MKS

boring colorless drab plain dreary dry dull flat insipid lackluster lifeless tedious unanimated uninspired vapid wearisome Saab looks better, despite being 7 years older

and to the hater mod.. what pray tell is the issue with Buick's Lacrosse interior? Please cherry pick away to find a negative commentary.

Its a mish mash of cars gone by, and the execution leaves much to be desired. It looks like it stole its rear from a Saab 9-5, its front from Audi and Bentley.. its sides from BLAAAH. It may actually appear to be ahead of its time for no other reason than one can't really tell whether its coming or going.. Credit for what? As a luxury buyer I can not for the life of me see anything about the Continental worth buying. That's kinda sick.. considering I can actually find something about the Lexus GS worth buying.. and I hate.. with a passion.. anything Toyota

Love the fact that my original response was deleted. Anyway.. as to the Continental... Here is an excerpt by Mark Phelan from Detroit Press.. comparing the Lincoln to not only the XTS.. but the Buick Lacrosse.
-
Um.. the CTS is gorgeous.. not opinion just fact. The CT6 is a better looking version of it. Sweet Lord

U are like that character that River Phoenix played in the movie Stand By Me.. a trouble-maker who always tries to be the voice of reason, very often without any real facts. He got killed trying to break-up a knife fight in the end. The magazines contend that the Continental is a CT6 competitor due to one thing.. as I pointed out before its the newest larg Cadillac on the market. The Continental is in every way a direct competitor to the XTS. The idea that U would CONTEND any different is idiotic at best.. considering U kno the damn truth. In terms of engineering the CT6 weighs less than the Continental while not having to be built on top of a plebeian platform. The missing elements of the CT6's "pedigree" go hand in hand with the fact that the cars that U are comparing even the Platinum version to from Germany are all minimum $10K more.. As for names.. Give me a effin break. Tell me Soulant (whatever) what did the name Continental mean in 1990.. 2000.. or Lincoln now in the year 2016? Not a effin thing. Believe me.. I was there.. and Lincoln didn't even have any 4-6-8s, serious down-sizing or Cimmarons to explain it. They just fell. To the XTS sales. Do tell what the Fleet sales were. While the XTS certainly had fleet deliveries.. Cadillac as a whole only sent about 16% of its vehicles that way.. 84% to retail (2400 of 15300)

Perspective. Any new car... almost any new car... looks good to a person driving a non-new car.. especially when they are looking to have a new car. The Conti is plain and boring.

Self imposed exile from C and G

Godspeed my dude. -
A long time ago I preached the same thing.. but the error of my ways was corrected when I truly became enthralled in luxury items. Everything from cars to hotels, watches to ties.. even food. As much as some try and belittle Cadillac, mostly because its, ironically, American.. it is the real deal.. and has been for the last 10 years. The XTS was necessary to retain the traditional buyer at Cadillac.. aka the older, more affluent ones while they readied the CT6. More interesting is the insane idea that they would discontinue the car in 2016..; three model years into its life. 2018 is still the planned kill date.. but by then the CT8 will have debuted, for sale in 2019. Don't forget that the names will change as well. Perfect time for the changeover. BTW.. if Cadillac was trying to supplement CTS sales they would have simply gave it the same product mix it had before, market the vehicle for all of its excellence and added another CUV, as that is what truly moves the sales needle now. I think that Cadillac is currently letting all but the XT5 and CT6 float on as they ready the others for the name change. Marketing any of the three other cars would be a waste of money going forward

I still believe that the Impala is going to go Omega or Alpha-L. It makes a lot more sense to consolidate the Impala with the SS leaving a larger car than the Malibu with a real performance edge.. at an affordable price. Because I said affordable I'm leaning more towards Alpha-L as the size of the CTS and SS are almost spot on.. 2015 Cadillac CTS wheel base 114.6 vs Chevy SS wheel base being 114.8. An Impala with a slightly more legroom in the back over the current CTS.. (which I actually think is moving to Omega when the CT4/5 debuts ) with a Turbo 4, V6 and V8 or TTV6 would be quite nice
-
Why? And Why do some auto enthusiasts automatically assume this stuff? Yeah.. I'm a normal car shopper walking into the Caddy dealer.. "Oh.. so U don't have the XTS anymore??? Well FINE!!!. I guess I'm gonna mozy on over that Buick dealership and get a Lacrosse.. since they are on the same platform (well used to be) ." BS!!! I literally have had several XTS owners stare me in the face and call me a liar when I told them that not only was my Impala the same car underneath as theirs.. but that LaX across the street was too.. And the old Malibu and Regal weren't far away from that relation either. This can be duplicated with an Impala or LaX owner as well. Point is that the market now dictates that while GM have a stepping stone hierarchy, they more so need to market each brand as an individual unit not connected to the other.. even Chevy vs GMC. Because lets face it... many people just don't make the connection.. and not to mention that there are some who absolutely have allegiance to one brand with the GM hierarchy over the other.. especially pertaining to Chevy/Buick/GMC. Cadillac very often gets a pass on that logic as it was always the top dog.. where as the Chevy Brand for all intents competed directly with Pontiac/Oakland.. Buick/Marquette with Olds/Viking (and Saturn) and GMC with Hummer. Either way GM would be a fool to not have at least one "CAR" in its Caddy line-up that is not an upgraded Chevy. The E2XX platform should be in every division without question. Quite frankly I think for every Alpha and Omega thru out Cadillac there can be an E2xx and C1XX opposing it.
-
My thought really is that Yes.. Cadillac most likely kept the XTS going til 2018 because it saw that Lincoln was gonna come right out the gate with an Airport Shuttle called Continental
-
LOL.. Cut and Sewn Steering Wheel Pad, instead of that rubber-maid BS

This is where we differ. I prefer the CTS-VSport over the XTS-Vsport because of my love of Sport. The CTS-VSport might actually be the best of all the configs as it is the Goldilocks "Just Right" kinda Porridge. BUT!!! If U are looking for the space.. the power.. the name.. and AWD, then U are gonna go XTS-VSport over the CTS-VSport all day. If comparing the XTS-V Sport to the Continenal 3.0T.. again.. XTS-VSport all day. They are the same car.. except the Caddy is a Caddy.. prettier.. has more power.. faster (based on MT Tests of both)... not a Lincoln In fact their is really only one thing that Lincoln did better than Cadillac in either the XTS or the CT6. Ironically I have it in my V, the ELR, and Escalade have it too.. yet Cadillac just won't streamline it to the entire line-up despite it probably costing them an additional $5. Guess what it is?
-
It makes no sense at all outside of the fact that the CT6 is high-profile right now as the new thing out.. The XTS, which is clearly the equal, if not better of the Continental is obviously the car to compare it to... but noooooooooooooo.. MT and idiots alike really want to compare a CT6, a car which is 95% S550 competitor in Platinum form.. 110% an LS460 and competitor, and damn near 100% a 750i competitor to a God damn Ford Taurus. Its reaching at straws and coming up with leeches carrying Ebola.

Maybe.. and perhaps U were only reading the excerpt that was posted on this topic.. but I read the article.. and quite frankly Motor Trend believes that a effin Odyssey is " kinda sports car" the way they test and bellow over performance constantly Quote: The then go on to say: I don't have the time to do a word count, but I'm willing to bet that they spent more time typing about PERFORMANCE than they did COMFORT. If I'm wrong.. its only by a few words. Also.. I scanned the article and not once did they even mention the XTS as a competitor.. despite the FACT that it remains a competent, higher selling, and similar, if not identical layout. Its even HIGHER IN COST than the Continental, yet still about $9K less than the CT6. So why bother with that comparison? So.. I said what I said because its what MT does. They pit everything from a Prius up against a Vette to a 599GTB versus a F150.

Cadillacs... or the CTSV that I purchased makes me feel a lot like I'm driving my Stingray.. but better. cause it has more space, more comfort, a more prestigious name, and all the trimmings that go with luxo. In truth.. and I've been schooling U for like.. 4ever.. the market is what drives sales. Cadillac sales aren't on top of the segment because they lack the proper product in all corners that the competition from Germany and Lexus are offerings..: Crossovers. Its even evident in what is selling at CADILLAC. This BS that some kick is ridiculous. A luxury name does not have to be a one-shot pony. No way no how. The CTS and ATS are selling in limited numbers yes.. but that also has to do with their available options and historic market penetration. Comparing them to the 3/4 series and E-Class is ridiculous.. as they have been around for a thousand years. The CTS, while in its 3rd Generation literally leaped segments.. and is essentially an STS. The CT6 has done quite well tho. The idiots continue to be employed at Motor Trend should get their head outta their tails and realize that just because the CT6 and Continental are similar in size and closer to intro in production.. does not mean the XTS is not around. That car is an exact match to the Continental, is a sales champ, and has had better reviews than the Lincoln.. yet suddenly because the timeline.. it gets looked over for the way more expensive CT6 when speaking of the Continental. Hey Motor Trend. I hope your readers sees your crock of sh+.. and then take it on your word to go out and buy a Continental over the CT6.. foolishly get into some sort of performance brawl with the Caddy.. only to have their tails lopped off and fed to them in their dim-witted mouths

Sales: Sales Figure Ticker: November 2016
Cmicasa the Great replied to William Maley's topic in 2016 Sales Archive
I personally never thought that VW was doomed in this market... just hoped they were going out of business. Them and every other foreign company. But never doubt the stupidity of the American people. Dumb asses somehow elected Trump thinking that a Billionaire actually gave a shit about their finances- 18 replies

Cmicasa the Great replied to Frisky Dingo's topic in The Lounge
Actually I ranked the German 3 ahead of Caddy mostly because they all tend to cater to the upper achelon better at this time. Again.. Cadillac's biggest issue lies in variants and variation. There is a SL, C-Class, Eclass, and S-Class convertible. Nothing in any size at Cadillac. BMW also has a 4series and 6series not to mention the Z.. Audi A5, R8, and TT. They also need more CUVs, and the CT6 needs to be fleshed out in the upper even when the CT8 arrives. IMO, where Cadillac and the 3 Germans compete head on.. such as the CTS vs the 5, E, A6.. or the ATS vs the 3/4, C, or A4.. and actually even the CT6 PLATINUM vs S550 they do quite well or better than those Germans -
November 2016: General Motors Co.

The Envision is stealing Enclave sales. GM had to see this coming. This is most like OK though.. considering the Enclave's development costs are depreciated as being developed in 2005-6. The Lambdas are cash cows since 2010. This.- 34 replies
