  1. Back in my old place there was a guy who absolutely hounded me on what I thought the CT6 would sell like. He thought that being a GM fan I would trot out some wildly inflated number that would be easy to pick holes in. I will say here what I said there: in all likelihood it will sell in high four/low five figures annually. Sales numbers aren't going to come right away when you're pushing into these segments, because brand loyalties are too strong. Anyways, when that guy read what I thought it would sell like he quieted down a bit and went back to trying to moderate the place. Which is a story for another day, possibly U are talking about that dweeb Dequindre over at Motor Trend forum who is a Mod.. and also posts at GMI pretending to love GM but constantly talking $h! about it and boosting up Ford. He usually has a Lincoln avatar like the one Wings has in his avy right now. I think they might be the same guy.. I predict 700 out the gate.. possibly more. Cadillac for the most part mimics Audi sales at the moment. The A8 sells about 700 a month
  2. I see a different car
  3. be honest.. everything in U wants the CT6 to fail. Hey Goof.. why the hell does the sales of one car mean anything to the customers seeking another car in another segment? The 1series had deplorable sales.. yet it never seem to effect the 3series sales
  4. Its already been set in the allocated budget. The CT8 was gonna happen before the CT6 ever debuted,.. logical no? The naming scheme suggests it 4GodSake.
  5. ^^^^ Its different.. and that will be the interest maker for many who buy it. GM.. are U seeing this??? At least one of the Lambdas should incorporate this in the design.. preferably as a real alternative to the minivan.. as the door opening like this kills the need for e sliding door
  6. ^^^ this is EXACTLY my fear. Benz, Cadillac, Audi.. any of them... This is a technology I simply have no desire to see come to fruition.. and if a vote ever comes to play on the political side.. I would personally cast a vote to not allow for it. The only caveat being.. N.A. would be behind in the tech.. but then again since GM and Ford are both global entities they could implement it in other countries to stay with the other makers in terms of advancement
  7. I still say that V2V and SC are a huge mistake.. Its bragging rights sure.. but I think we are going down a helluva path.. one that John and Sarah Connors warned us about 31 years ago. But this is sexy
  8. What makes you think Cadillac doesn't have a lot of stuff in store? Cadillac has SuperCruise coming very soon, I've spotted the cars testing in Pittsburgh (there has been a semi-camoflaged XTS wandering around downtown). Cadillac just released a fantastic new 8-speed automatic that performs equal or better than some of the best DCTs. There's the 3.0TT due out later this year, the updated 3.6, the updated 3.6TT, the coming V8TT, 4-wheel steering, a vastly upgraded CUE system, and more "added vehicle lightness". But Mercedes has super cruise or self driving already, The E-class is getting it, which means the 5-series do it, so the CTS will have to have it, they can't hold it as an CT6 exclusive and trickle down later. All the Germans have TT V8s already, nothing new there. Mercedes has the 9-speed transmission now, which like the 7-speed has 2 reverse gears, so you can do 50 mph in reverse. We'll see what happens, but the CTS isn't competing well with an old E-class. Once the new one arrives they could be in trouble. Same goes for Lexus wit that tired GS they have. That 3.5 liter V6 is from like 2006, they might want to upgrade that. Autonomous Driving First and foremost, and I can't believe I'm the first to say it, but EFF Mercedes. U are giving credit to the brand on a technology that should have been in their cars the day they decided to start selling that BS for more than $100K. Furthermore, "DISTRONIC PLUS adaptive cruise control is no substitute for active driving involvement. It does not adapt cruising speed in response to stationary objects, nor does it predict the curvature and lane layout of the road ahead or the movement of vehicles ahead. It is the driver's responsibility at all times to be attentive to traffic and road conditions, and to provide the steering, braking and other driving inputs necessary to retain control of the vehicle. Drivers are cautioned not to wait for the DISTRONIC Proximity Warning System before braking, as that may not afford sufficient time and distance to brake safely. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake maintenance, and tire and road conditions." Mercedes Disclaimer because truth be told.. the first time someone gets killed using this tech.. all of these companies are gonna be made to yank that BS off the market. Personally I'm lost to why the heck they would even implement such a tech on a society that is absolutely, and completely irresponsible in the first place. Not to mention hackers. I already hear chatter from tech colleagues that this is gonna be a GOOD TIME for hackers all over the world Engines/Transmissions: The Germans have TTV8s due to their mother market necessitating the use of them due to taxation. Cadillac had the luxury.. lol... of not having to deal with those taxes until now since it is beginning to make serious head way in China, and have plans, for some reason, to enter back into Europe. Cadillac has access to the LS and now LT V8s which are capable of as much HP and torque as the Germans' TTv8. They have also demonstrated that they are now capable of TTv6s that rival or beat what the Germans have in their TTv6/SCv6s and some of their V8s. The transmissions are now moot. The GM 8speed is certifiably one of the best on the market. Engineered independently and IN-HOUSE, not by ZF or Getrag. GM is developing with Ford a 9 and 10 speed. 50 miles an hour in reverse??? WHY??? The new E-Class will debut next year. Two years after that the new CT4 will debut. Its a situation of WHEN. All cars get one upped periodically unless they all come together and agree that they are from this day forward gonna debut like cars at the same time
  9. ^^^^having say in the back of the CT6at the NY show.. I can attest that the seats in the rear.. that I'll never want to ride in.. do recline and move aft and fore.. the media center is awesome and there is a proposed table setting as well.
  10. While I hadn't included a sedan in the Corvette mix.. I'm pretty sure Ferdinand didn't for Porsche either. That being said,.. currently at GM there are engineering Team Cadillac and engineering Team Chevy/Corvette. They do collaborate, but it is also said (via Tadge) that they compete in outdoing each other. I like like this. It was responsible for a great deal of innovation back in the 50s and 60s from what I'm told and have read. BTW there is/was a "Corvette Sedan" already being sold for cheaper than the CTS-V from 2008 to present...
  11. The interior is pretty plebeian. Cadillac for the Win again vs
  12. Your points are valid to a point. 1) Absolutely. I am seeing effin Mustang ads every freaking day. Had the same momentum of the ATS ads, in the beginning, kept up, then their sales would be double. Speculation yes... but I saw a great deal of excitement seeing the ATS racing down the mountain side in Italy(?) a few years back.. "Robot Arms" would have been fine had a celebration actually been in order. The CTS, on the other hand started off with one commercial that I remember and haven't seen since... the "Moon Shot." 2) I don't agree with this at all. The ATS is necessary and should be fleshed out. A beautiful car left bland in anything not incorporating full fascia. The LED vertical front lights should be across the board at Cadillac. The ATS should have had a convertible ready for Summer. A Wagon. A Hybrid. It is possibly the most important car at Cadillac in convincing the masses that Cadillac is no longer "snooty and old luxury." In view of sales the proportion of sales is on point with the CTS tho. Eclass sells almost 45 of what the C-Class does. Same for the two Cadillacs. ATS sales need to go up though, but they could do this by advertising it and offering more desirable options. Great looking? Yes! But when the CTS goes to battle, it needs something more to stand on....and be able to show it. Heck, the V series used to a big deal......but the people I talk to just don't talk about it like they used to....that-needs to change. The MSeries used to be a big deal.. most non-enthusiasts or even actual enthusiasts over 45 don't kno that it even exists. AMG is so muddled and over-used it is about as special as saying I drive an LTZ Impala... What the CTS needs is the cars that it had when it was selling 40% more than it is now. Its the most OBVIOUS thing in the history of man. I'm selling 4 different versions of a car, and those version make up 40% of the volume of my sales. I STOP.. making those cars... and then so called ANALYST can't seem to get it in their heads WHY sales would be down. I'm selling 4 different versions of a car, and those version make up 40% of the volume of my sales. I STOP.. making those cars... and then so called ANALYST can't seem to get it in their heads WHY sales would be down. I think Cadillac knows this actually. I think they just don't MIND considering the car is not long for this wold and the next CTS will be sized slightly different (interior) to address they bitching going on by the media.. who suddenly is more interested in backseats than dynamics.
  13. Yeah, that. After putting this article up, I poked around on Autotrader and found one of those in LWB Portfolio trim for very reasonable money. very sharp car It was a flagship, that was not the S-Class, wasn't German, wasn't fat as $h!.. and people knu U were well-off when U pulled up. Cadillac.. will U market the CT6 the way the OLD XJ was marketed please?
  14. He's talking about this sexy cat... respectable as EFF.. and not chasing any one
  15. Tell it to Lincoln.. and Ford.. and watch as I did last year how GM's profits, despite the multi-billion $$$ recall allowed them to start realizing profits in the black more so than many years before. That being said.. Chevy has a great deal of profit in their cars and trucks.. GMC pads that even further.. as does Buick. Cadillac is the coup de grace.. its XTS, Escalade, and SRX are mints.. printing money to fund the Alpha and Omega platforms while they do their intended purpose.
  16. Unfortunately for your Euro biased bull$h!.. the Corvette is on par with the 911 in the ways that matter in terms of a sports car. Where the 911 beats the Corvette is when the 911 charges $50K more to do so... and up to this point.. the last two generations really only appear to be in terms of interiors. If a Vette owner wants to spend $50K more to get about $3K more worth of upgrades in the interior I say "have at it.. U f@#king Moron." That's what I would say to that person BTW altho they haven't sissified it up to the point of Porsche, the Corvette can be customized quite well
  17. First and foremost I absolutely FAIL.. to see the differences in this new on and the one we have been looking at sporadically for the past 5 years. I FAIL.. to see why no one calls certain companies out on BULL$h! like this yet get on Cadillac for making their CT6 resemble the gorgeous CTS. Jag's advantage of weight is no longer an advantage: Curb weight lbs (kg) RWD: From 3,891 (1,765) / AWD: From 4,112 (1,865) RWD: From 3,913 (1,775) / AWD: From 4,134 (1,875) CT6 is promised to not go over 4000 The lightest XJ is still 3900. The CT6 is promised to be 3650 base. Wheel base of 119.4 to 124.3, meaning the difference between it and the CT6 is in the middle with the Cadillac being 1.9 inches shorter than the LWB XJ, yet 3 inches longer than the SWB Interior wise I am gonna go with Caddy again. The Jag looks like it has not gone any further. And what is it suddenly with the need for the seats to look like quilts in luxo cars.. and Kia???
  18. Meaning that of the 105K Cruzes... 47K went to Rental. Camry 44K of its 178K went to rental... a WHOPPING 27K of the 68K brand new 200s that have been sold.. are rental cars. I have to say that despite Cruze numbers being highest.. the fact that it has been on the market now for 8 years while the 200 and Camry have been new for 1 year and about 6 months respectively and are already fleet heavy is disturbing
  19. Article Quotes: The U.S. auto industry is on a roll by most accounts, with industry volume sizzling and profits riding high on a SUV and pickup-truck boom. There is a weak spot, however. Retail demand for bread-and-butter passenger cars, such as the Toyota Camry and Chevrolet Cruze, has softened amid lower gasoline prices. This is leading high-volume auto makers to send more of these types of cars to rental car fleets, a practice that keeps production lines humming but can dent resale values and clip margins. About 21% of the compact cars and 20% of the midsize cars sold during the first quarter ended up in daily rental fleets, up from about 17% in the same period a year earlier, according to the most recently available U.S. registration data. For subcompact cars, the daily rental mix was 28% for the period, up from 24% in the prior year. Registration data, compiled by IHS Automotive, was provided to The Wall Street Journal by industry sources. IHS declined to confirm the numbers, saying its data is proprietary. The data presents a troubling caution flag for a U.S. auto industry enjoying the strongest demand in more than a decade. The push toward rental-car fleets indicates a key portion of the market is being artificially supported. The Chevy Cruze had the highest volume of cars going to rental car fleets during the quarter, amounting to about 45% of the compact’s total sales, followed by the Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry and Chrysler 200. About one-quarter of sales for the popular Camry, the best-selling passenger car in the U.S., were to rentals in the first quarter, up from 14% a year ago. Roughly 39% of Chrysler 200 sedan sales went to rental fleets. For the Nissan Altima, the rental-car mix was 27%. http://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-auto-industry-develops-a-weak-spot-1434364381
  20. A 270 hp CT6 is adequate because there is also a 335hp CT6 and a plug-in Hybrid with 335 hp and 432 lb-ft of torque and a 400 hp twin-turbo V6.... and a twin turbo V8 coming that is most likely well over 500 horsepower. This^^^ HE acts as if the CT6 is in a bubble and a base engine is its only choice. I know it isn't the only choice. So why not offer a lower priced Corvette with a 335 hp V6 and 8-speed automatic. 15 years ago the Corvette had 345 hp and a 4-speed automatic, granted that V8 had a lot more torque than the V6. I say make the Corvette more attainable, it is a Chevy, not a $250,000 exotic. Corvette average buyer age is 59 years old, offering a V6 version at $47,000 could bring that down a bit. And you still have the 460 hp V8 and 600 hp supercharged V8 as options. As far as the Camaro goes, I think at some point with every car you have to stop, and then another car takes over. There isn't a 410 hp Impala SS because there is a 410 hp XTS V-sport, and they want you to move up to Cadillac if you want more than the standard car. Camaro should be $25-50k with the 3 engine choices they have outlined, offer a low weight track package option for enthusiasts. If 460 hp isn't enough for you, then you buy a Corvette or a Cadillac. A Camaro costing more than a CTS-V as was the case a couple years ago doesn't make sense. Corvette sales don't require that it be more attainable. As a Corvette owner.. I have no issue with the cost as of right now, but really don't see a need for a cheaper model. My model.. is Porsche.. and I think that with proper product the Vette could command a nice bit of what a Porsche goes for if the same type of implication is utilized. The Stingray vs Cayman S , Z06 vs 911 Turbo etc. I think that the Grand Sport with a happy in between should be brought back with about 550HP. There is a whopping 200HP gap between Stingray NPP and Z06 There isn't a 410HP Impala, because there is a 415HP Chevy SS. Camaro line is fine as well.. They should be charging the prices they are because their competition is charging that price.. for comparative performance and build.
  21. I considered this as well. The ATS and CTS are done in 2 years basically. The new CT2 and CT4 will be being shown by next Fall. This is why in another thread I expressed that the ATS and CTS, the current ones, should have debuted with the new naming scheme since they were already gonna do it before JDN was even hired. It would have, most likely, killed a lot of the CTS buyer confusion as well. BTW.. I still expect the Escalade to get the "XT" treatment in 2019.. perhaps as a secondary name. "Escalade XT8" by Cadillac
  22. Nice plan.. but I think that an Alpha based CUV would be BOSS. Make it two door.. and similar in fact to the Evoque in sleekness
  24. Part of the issue is that BMW and Benz are selling 30K per month.. albeit using lower end items and massive amounts of options. Again.. because why type it when I said before: Here is the real problem, and again, UNBELIEVABLE that GM would manufacturer as many ATS in sedan only form and expect people to simply buy. I can't buy an ATSV or CTS-V yet. I can't buy an ATS wagon.. I can't buy a CTS Wagon.. I can't buy an ATS Convertible.. I can't buy a ATS or CTS diesel.. I can't even if I wanted to.. so instead of building those models for consumption.. GM builds too many Sedans of each with no variants. That doesn't even include the fact that U cannot buy an AWD model across the board. No AWD in VSport or upcoming VSeries. Not a huge thing for me, but U would sell more vehicles in Snowbelt if they had it. Anyone not believing me.. or who can't see what I'm saying.. just LOOK: 328diesel Sedan 328diesel xDrive Sedan 3series Sedan 3series xDrive Sedan ActiveHybrid 3 3series xDrive Sports Wagon 3series xDrive Sports Wagon 3series diesel xDrive Gran Turismo 3series xDrive Gran Turismo M3 vs ATS Sedan ATS-V (Not even here yet) 4Series Coupe 4Series xDrive Coupe 4Series Gran Coupe 4Series xDrive Gran Coupe 4Series Convertible 4Series xDrive Convertible M4 vs ATS Coupe ATS-V Coupe (Not even here yet) ****************************** 5Series Sedan 5Series xDrive Sedan 535diesel Sedan 535diesel xDrive Sedan ActiveHybrid 5 5Series Gran Turismo 5Series xDrive Gran Turismo M5 vs CTS Sedan CTS-V (not even here yet)
