  1. 1. Altima 2. Passat 3. Mazdaspeed6 4. Legacy 5. Mazda6 hatchback 6. Sebring 7. no way.
  2. The 2 door doesn't have a waiting list. And it accounts for 44.2% of Wrangler sales. I wonder how many day's supply is on the lot.
  3. It may be great for safety and bad weather, but it's not the hottest thing on a track. http://youtube.com/watch?v=GwT79fmwOjY The SH-AWD is more of an advanced vehicle stability control than a racing handling technology. As your Canadian Driver article says, "the operation of the SH-AWD system and VSA was barely perceptible, and enabled corners to be taken on very slick surfaces without drama" It's boring, and it's safe.
  4. I demand scientific testing on mice, dogs, and chimpanzees! "Health risks of automotive interior arsenic, bromine, chlorine and mercury content while sitting in stop and go traffic" I want some dead chimps for solid, indisputable data!
  5. I love the last G35/350Z's smooth, but cigarette smoke-hoarsed exhaust sound. These pictures are a bit underwhelming since the back is so plain, and that the car is a test mule. It could be more pleasant once all the badging is on the back, to make the rear look busier.
  6. http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/Press-...lease/ft900.pdf Trade deficits for January, 2007: 1. China -$21.3B 2. OPEC -$9.3B 3. Europe -$7.7B 4. Canada -$6.9B 5. Japan -$6.5B 6. EU -$6.5B 7. Mexico -$4.6B BrewSwillis, you could read the source you cite better. The chart you linked earlier was TOTAL TRADE (EXPORT + IMPORT), which is meaningless to this discussion of TRADE DEFICITS (EXPORT - IMPORT). OPEC is up at #2. But yes OPEC is the sum of several countries, whereas Canada is one... giant country that's probably as big as all the OPEC countries combined.
  7. So apparently you can patent letters in Canada. And only BMW may use 6-speed manuals in Canada. What a big win for BMW in Canada! Either that or the judge never heard of transmissions, and this ruling will get immediately overturned. Or the judge recently just began driving a brand new BMW M6. Ironically, the BMW M6 is a 7 speed SMG, while everyone else's M6 is a 6 speed manual.
  8. Why does a second rate German company get to consult Mr. Bush, instead of BMW?
  9. Well our government does pull money out of thin air with bonds and "debt" that some how exists. The important thing is that $400 million dollars creates jobs. That $400 million is not given to Toyota, that $400 million is paid to American workers to build these roads, piping, sewer, etc. So Toyota is giving Mississipians jobs, and Mississippi is giving Mississippians jobs. And the State of Mississippi has debt that goes who knows where. National debt is cool. I love how America can pull money out of thin air, and supposedly "repay" it over decades.
  10. I take it this is a future Highlander that hasn't been designed? The plant won't be built in time for the 2008 Highlander.
  11. Asian politics and culture are screwed up. Absolute respect for your elders. Absolute respect for your superiors. So you end up with mini dictatorships all over.
  12. So what do you call Jeeps and Hondas, which are all integrated body/frame? Especially with people's prejudice against the Ridgeline. Honda and Jeep both use the same build, both claiming an integrated unibody is more rigid than the old school body on frame. But people would rather call the Jeeps "SUVs" and the Hondas "Crossovers".
  13. Yes the Chinese are 7 years behind. But it only takes one generation of redesign to catch up. They are behind because their government crash test program just started. It only takes a few hours to buy a 5-star car, tear it down, and look at how it's built. Then, copy the structure (since there are no enforceable copyright laws in China, it's even easier to do.) In the USA, many cars on the market tested by the NHTSA in the year 2000 crashed like this. Most used cars on dealers' lots will crash just like this Chinese car. So think about how safe your pre-2002 car is that you're driving.
  14. I saw a Cream Brule Edge and a Super Black Murano parked next to each other today. The rear end of the Edge is quite attractive. Nice tail lights. Can't beat the Murano's bling bling front end though. But both of them have cheap looking and feeling interiors. The Murano is one of the last Nissans that needs an interior makeover.
  15. 3-row capable models are the only models Toyota offers. Toyota's small, mid, and large crossover/SUVs are all 3-row capable. So it's the only way to compare with a Toyota. Plus, it's not as if the Toyota is a bigger car. In fact, the Edge is longer (185.7") than the 3-row Toyota (184.6"), and wider too. The Highlander's 3rd row are just 30.2" legroom baby jump seats, not full sized 3rd rows. (The Rav4 is actually bigger than this outgoing Highlander.)
  16. No way. It looks like the panel was misaligned. Someone took it apart and didn't snap it back in all the way. No way can a car like this exist, unless it's a hand built supercar.
  17. You just broke your own personal classification scheme. Ground Clearance Jeep Liberty 6.4" (integrated body/frame) HIGHLANDER 6.9" (crossover) <========== Murano 7.0" (crossover) <============== GMC Yukon 7.1" RX350 7.1" (crossover) <============== BMW X5 7.1" (crossover) Land Rover LR3 7.3" (crossover) Acura MDX 7.3" (integrated body/frame) GMC Acadia 7.4" (crossover) Trailblazer 7.8" Torrent 7.9" (crossover) CX-9 8.0" (crossover) Grand Cherokee 8.0" Ford Escape 8.0" (crossover) Edge 8.0" (crossover) <============== SANTA FE 8.1" (crossover) <=========== CX-7 8.1" (crossover) Explorer 8.2" Cadillac SRX 8.2" (crossover) <======== Subaru Outback 8.7" (crossover) Toyota Sequoia 10.6" Infiniti QX56 10.8" HUMMER H1 16.0" Noooooo! The world is upside down! ... I just like making fun of people. j/k. :AH-HA_wink:
  18. The Australian government is very happy Australia is now exporting this 100% Australian designed, engineered, and built sport sedan to the USA! http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Media...y/photoId=36677 More jobs for Australians! Keep up the awesome work! Be role models for your US counterparts! Apparently things have been rough for Holden in Australia, and exporting has been how they have stayed alive, providing Australian job security. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...6-31037,00.html http://www.theage.com.au/news/news/holden-...222.html?page=2 http://www.nzherald.co.nz/category/story.c...jectid=10423038 The Australian government will fund Holden and other Australian manufacturers with A$7 billion dollars (US $5.4b) to continue their global push. Holden is also contemplating exporting the Commodore Ute to the USA!
  19. Besides a low base price, these smaller engines suck. Most of the companies' smaller engines use as much gas as their largest V8.
  20. I bet it'll be done for fuel economy, instead of power like the Lexus GS. The Infiniti M would be a great fuel efficient commuter car. Nobody's buying the Lexus GS hybrid. Hybrid for power is a stupid idea, especially when +300 lb "hybrid" components is synonymous with "poor handling".
  21. Just face it, every single magazine/newspaper/any source has reviewed the Edge as mediocre, offering nothing special, and feeling a bit porky and Camry-esque. The interior isn't exactly the greatest thing. And magazines just about always vote for sporty. Even Jeremy Clarkson gave the Murano thumbs up as the only big crossover he likes. I don't know about the Highlander... I didn't like it.
  22. Uh, VEHICLES don't deliver the full power of the ENGINE, it's called drivetrain loss. The power you get at the tires is much lower than the listed engine power, which is what's available at the crankshaft. It's the power that actually gets to the tires that matters, not what's initiated at the engine bay. That's why people test their vehicles on chassis dynamometers, which measures the actual power the VEHICLE puts out. Comparing power at the wheel is much more truthful than comparing paper numbers in the engine bay.
  23. Um, you'd have to feel cheated. The Silverado's L76 6.0L engine has false advertised power, which it only hits with a spike at redline. Yes, the power is probably in the engine, but the engine management software cripples it. Gm's own graph of the L76 doesn't show such a dramatic jump. http://media.gm.com/us/powertrain/en/produ...lverado_SAE.pdf It would be an easy fix with a software reflash, but then the mpg will probably dive unacceptably. However, the Silverado being most likely thousands of dollars cheaper than the Tundra, you get what you pay for. It's worth noting the editors recommend the Silverado over the Tundra, for the Silverado's softer ride and "comfort". http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...1/pageId=118458 The Tundra won on performance and utility. Wow, this is a rare review where the editors preferred a soft ride instead of a sporty ride... reviewers are coming to their senses and facing the reality of bumpy public roads... like Motortrend picking the Camry...
  24. Don't you be comparing third rate GM glue to Toyota's small ball joint defect. For all we know, there could have been gallons of GM's defective third rate glue on a single car, while Toyota's ball joint has but a tiny chip! Besides, this is just a model year extension of a known existing recall, like Ford's cruise control. The ball joint is also probably manufactured by a Detroit affiliated supplier, who is employing a Toyota hating, ball-joint sabotaging, vengeful employee, who slyed his way into being the trusted employee of the month, and getting to drive the company car to the hi-luxury exotic dancing club down the street, all on the company's payroll. This person also probably handed out the last unsabotaged ball-joints to the strippers as souvenirs, in exchange for VIP lap dances and drinks! Man it's good to be the employee of the month!
  25. The Big Five band together and fight the demon! Randall Hayes, President of Rainforest Action Network Power of F-150 (11000), Silverado (10500), Ram (8850), Tundra (10800), Titan (9500) combine! Towing capacity: 50,650 lb! Begin demolition of Rainforest Action Network Headquarters in San Francisco, California!
