  1. Yeah. Too bad just about everything is built over there these days...I'd be very happy if I could point to everything I own and say "Not made in china".
  2. Ditto. Pretty good, fun commercials overall, too. Optimus saying "My bad" was totally wrong, in a funny sort of way.
  3. I have 3 little letters for you: CTC It's coming...
  4. It's all gonna depend on how much of a premium you have to pay for how much mileage increase.
  5. Yes, the whole industry has gone too much into just copying whatever general style Toyota and Honda put out. The only really GOOD looking sedans of the last 10 years that I can think of off the top of my head are the late-model Bonnevilles, the 2nd gen CTS, and the G8.
  6. I can...does Goodyear make any rubber that can hold onto that kind of power?
  7. I dunno, guys...I just can't find anything to like about this car. It looks like the mother was an FJ Cruiser, and the father was half Mini, half Honda Element.
  8. Heh. Reminds me of the tests they ran in the late 90s (I think it was) between Chev, Ford and Dodge extended cab trucks...and the driver of the F-150 got impaled by the steering column as the truck's frame proceeded to fold in half. I just read Motor Trend's blatantly mismatched Silvy/Tundra comparison (pitting a 5.3L chev vs a 5.7L tundra and still crowing that the tundra could out-perform the chev with a 6.0L...wtf?). Too bad these results weren't in for that one...
  9. Yeah, um, I don't see why my Aztek is so maligned styling-wise...I mean come on, the Japanese have been putting out uglier stuff every year since the Aztek debuted. Must just be the anti-American bias the U.S. media has these days. This thing just takes the cake on ugly.
  10. Eew, makes me want to puke. I think I'd rather Chrysler die a quick death than let the commies run it. Besides, we're all already dumping billions upon billions that way in imbalanced trade every year anyway, I'd hate for Americans to dump even more...
  11. Come again? Dodge with better trannies? Perhaps better than the holdover HydraMatic 4-speeds, but I'd take an Allison trans over anything Dodge makes any day of the week...and the 4-speed is on its way out the door. My sis has a Ram...chunked 2 Dodge trannies in less than 100K miles. I know a guy who just bought a new Big Horn and has already ordered a 3rd party trans.
  12. I would only say that GM should "rebadge" a dodge minivan if they dropped their own engine/trans combo in there. Chrysler trannies are absolute junk (my dad's buddy has replaced 5 trans's in 100K miles between 2 vehicles), and a good, modern GM engine would be a better powerplant.
  13. Yes, on some cars worse than others. I've heard japanese minivans where the roofrack howls at 50mph, and the howling turns into an ear-piercing whine by 70mph. The one on my aztek is usually pretty quiet, though it does rattle around a bit in turbulent air. Ditto the one on my fiancee's Tahoe.
  14. Glad to hear from someone who has some true insight into the problem. Much better to hear where the problem is than just more media dumping on GM.
  15. Ooh, pretty! And $33K for all that. Only 2 complaints from any of the pictures...1), the taillight cluster needs a more "pontiac" look, and the prototype logo (which isn't production anyway) does nothing for me. One note on the logo...Mitsubishi used to be red diamonds, then went to chrome. Does Pontiac really want to be doing something that Mitsu did?
  16. Ah, but which Impala headlamp? I agree...blacked out or body color, not chrome. The clear/chrome look is so ricer, IMHO.
  17. Well, you're better dialed-in than I am...I'm just the guy who drools over these things I just hope I have the funds available to buy an SS (or whatever the top trim is) when they get here. If they can get 400HP@30MPG out of last year's coupe concept, it might make a decent commuter.
  18. Huh. I notice that they didn't post power numbers...don't want to give anything away from the production car?
  19. Exterior looks great! Interior overall is good, but I do have some complaints that I hope are addressed for the production car: 1: need to have cruise control and radio controls on the steering wheel...no excuse for not having it set up that way 2: the gauges need more hashmarks on them. 25mph between hashmarks isn't accurate enough. 3: the numbering in the gauges need to illuminate. I also prefer white-on-black lettering as being easier to read. 4: headrests don't appear to be adjustable. raising/lowering and tilting should be there. 5: the radio/hvac controls need a SEVERE reworking. Too funky and counter-intuitive. 6: bigger seat bolsters might be nice, too, depending on how much give there is in the center of the seat. Clearly this is still a concept--after all, it doesn't even look like there's a passenger-side airbag. Hopefully GM will take a little more time refining the interior details before we see a production car, but not dial back TOO much on the unique personality the concepts have shown.
  20. Oh no, we need to drop the TB SS entirely. Not that it really matters...the TB is a lame duck at this point, given that mid-size truck-body SUVs are a dying breed. The crossovers are just too strong a market, with too many technical advantages over the TB and Exploder and their ilk.
  21. Me like! Makes me wish (big time) that GM had had this back in '02 when I bought my Aztek. As good as that car's been to me, this is SO much better in every way (except for the lack of a HUD...I still say that was an underrated safety feature, since my eyes never have to leave the road to check my gauges). The styling on this is great. Unlike some others, I like the half-cut headlight bar, it adds a unique take on the standard chevy styling. The wheels are nice, and I don't think the tires need to be any wider for this car. Overall, RS would have been a better designation choice...it hearkens back to days gone by, is still a sporty designation, and is a good fit for sport models that don't quite measure up to the SS moniker. In fact, I think that RS would be good for mid-level sports cars as well, like a Camaro. Keeping the SS cues works, too...just not calling it SS is good enough for me, though maybe RS-specific cues would be better. But, overall, if I were in the market to directly replace my Aztek, this would certainly be on the short-list.
  22. Sure it would...my Aztek has a lot more refinement and class! Might work next to a pre-rework Aztek though...
  23. Huh. Methinks the hybrids for these big boys need a lot of under-cab space for the mechanisms. I wonder if this includes a Duramax Hybrid?
  24. The bit about using the hybrid features with a diesel engine is intriguing...
