  1. The Fusion Sport is a really fine car...I am really starting to dig Ford's front end treatments. They age really well styling wise, and I like how athletic they make the car look. ...and a Golf R would be my choice for a car at any price point I think....if I could have any car on the planet right now, methinks it would be a Golf R. Give me room for a second garage (first garage is packed completely full of woodworking tools) and I would happily put a 56 Ford F100 next to that R. That would be my dream garage at the moment...Frisky can keep the other three rides for himself in the dream car department.
  2. hmmmm...as a guy looking for a sporty family car, that suddenly becomes very affordable. Still prefer the GTI.
  3. I love this car, fantastic Video. I remember when they built clear plastic convertible tops for the presidential Lincoln limo...those have gone the way of the Dodo bird also.
  4. You ought to consider a sport compact for your next car. Your son is getting to be about that age...a Focus ST, GTI, WRX or the like would put you in really good with his friends.
  5. Agree with the autocross thing...lots of fun. We need CP to buy a Pontiac G8 GXP as a garage mate for this car I think... http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2009-pontiac-g8-gxp-short-take-road-test Same era as the departed Malibu, and a nice book end for the SS...
  6. "No more anxiety, just ass kicking. This car is incredible." Would almost make sleeping on the couch for a Month after his wife found out how much he spent worthwhile.... Better than anything I will ever own or drive, fantastic choice!
  7. That would make sense.
  8. I think it will be well received. Lincoln is on a roll with the new Conti....like them or not, Lincoln is moving Iron and moving up in the world.
  9. ...and this isn't exactly going to be showing up at the local autocross to attempt spanking the GTI and the 8 speed corvette from the manual transmission thread. Given that one needs Dramamine to properly drive a Lexus GS, and that Infinity, Acura and Lincoln don't exactly have stellar chassis tuning, I think the V6 regal will acquit itself quite well for the class.
  10. The point I was making is just the opposite in the case of the corvette, that one could ahve an automatic car that ones spouse, children and friends could still drive, and still enjoy it in a weekend autocross. No real need for a manual corvette unless you just wanted to buy it that way. Plus, V8 has a wide torque curve, much less need to be in a precise gear at a specified time... Exactly, like a comfortable pair of old blue jeans....!
  11. Corvette with an 8 speed auto would be fantastic IMHO. Several local autocrossers autocrossed automatic corvettes and did quite well. Would be an excellent road trip car with the 8 speed auto, i think. Being a cheapskate, I would buy a manual GTI to avoid the $400 plus DSG transmission flush every 40,000 miles.
  12. Not really sure I agree with this...I could see them getting really good chassis feel with a V6....it isn't all about weight....
  13. Could very well be...and this will give me some serious thinking to do, as I will be in the market...TDI is in VW's hands now...
  14. It is a lot of car for the money...but if I am going to spend a larger amount of coin I would personally prefer to get the new Regal...which like the Malibu is also a fantastic car.
  15. Because people buy these cars to actually use in sanctioned competition from time to time...
  16. Looking forward to seeing you back... Mustang is an amazing product, no questions asked. Fair trade has been ignored for far too long...
  17. But my local Chevrolet dealer said it was only available in the top trim level, which is quite expensive for a Malibu.
  18. ...and the difference becomes even more profound with a less skilled driver, like at our local autocrosses...
  19. ...and even then, local VW dealers used to keep 40 percent GTI's as manual...and Miatas were mostly manual at the local Mazda store... Now, local Mazda dealer has tons of automatic Miatas, and less than 10 percent of GTI's stocked locally are manual... Fair enough...every time I drive a newer BMW I think about what once was, and that colors my perception I think. Bring me an E30 M3 or an E36 M3 please...
  20. This thing really needs at least a 2.0 Turbo. That would be the minimum GM would even have to do to get me in the door for a test drive.
  21. Depends on the car enthusiast, lots of enthusiasts I know like automatics.
  22. ...You may say that I am a dreamer...but I am not the only one....someday the world will join us...and we can all live as one...John Lennon.... Your not the only one who thinks that way.
  23. I should be road tripping Cleveland, we need to match up schedules.
  24. Would be the best option.
